what they did was incredibly sweet but... this man has a full time job. he shouldn’t be struggling like this putting in 40 hours a week. give this man a raise.
@Encephalitisify2 жыл бұрын
That’s the whole purpose of these stories, at least how they exist in this context of so called “journalism”. A feel good story so people think everything is working out fine. A real journalist would have looked into the reasons why there isn’t enough money to pay the janitor a livable wage, and why the community had to resort to charity to support themselves while the people who create the budgets are multi millionaires.

I recently started my janitor job at my old high-school over a year ago today.let's just say it's the best job I've ever had. I see myself more than just someone who cleans everyday. I'm like an educational assistant in a way. I know when the kids are having a rough day or whos been on who. I am the eyes and ears of the establishment and I enjoy coaching sports on my hours off.

That's what it is all about. Helping each other. To let him know each day just how valued and loved he is. Kind words, smiles and knowing what all it took for him to get to work. He touches so many hearts and thank you for touching his! You not only put a smile on his face, others, mine BUT on God's face as well. You warmed my heart I don't know you all but I saw your hearts and gratitude. Memories made for years to come that will be shared with others who walk the halls of your school and yes, even to the ones (me) who know through reading this.

Feb 2023: too late for me to get in the Gofundme. I hope he got a lot more than $7k 'cause there's not a truck out there worth having at that amount. And I hope this shames the school board or whoever is in charge of the budget for this dear man's salary. And why is he commuting from such a distance? Is there no housing suitable for him close to the school? Then a Gofundme to help him move would be nice too !

School pay wage should be higher if; people can give empathy or what seems like pity to raise money for janitor to have a car; then why not fight for the Janitor to have a higher hourly wage so,he will be able to purchase his car with the money he earns create a contract with a car dealership or buy a car of his own thought of purchase Show a man how to fish that he will never go hungry! Which doesn't allow for indefinitely indebted! The Respect and Empathy Is To Believe The Janitor Deserves A Higher Hourly Wage .

Custodial pay is way to low to survive on with how expensive life is for low income earners, who pay rent, health, renters, isurances,, medical expenses, food, amenities support kids, often times elderly grandparents or relatives, etc.. Many districts also don't provide any benefits at all. No affordable health insurance. No paid time off,no holiday pay, vacation pay, personal or sick days etc..Custodial pay is barely a dollar or two at most above minimum wage, can't really afford a car note, auto insurance, maintenance on those wages. At least not an underprivileged single person living below poverty without any financial help splitting bills even so ypu can't rely on roommates or others, as they can leave you hanging with expenses. As we all know not everyone is fortunate to have been born into privilege, or marry it or even earn enough for it. Many of us work very hard yet dont make enough to survive, others sometimes don't even work (unemployed) at all yet have everything bc they've acquired wealth through other means like inheritances, settlements etc.. Others may work in any manner yet are blessed with high paying employment & don't struggle. It's heart-warming, compassionate & kind that the faculty raised him the funds for reliable transportation to work.

@zythr99992 жыл бұрын
How so?
@curiouscat3384 Жыл бұрын
Who is shaming him for walking? Who said it's his choice to not pollute? He's walking because it's the only way he can get to the job he loves !!! The sympathy for him is in the number of hours he has to spend getting to and from work everyday! And it doesn't look like he's getting any younger or has any money to retire if his legs give out on him. I'm an environmentalist and low carbon footprint myself - hardcore. But the circumstances of american life with inadequate public transportation do not permit us to be holier than thou about driving cars (unless maybe you live in NYC but even those people struggle every day to get around on time). You should applaud him for getting to work every day and not being a drain on government assistance (aka "entitlements" which so many holier than thou people like to b_tch about)!
