Parents of 12 break down sobbing when they discover what Secret Santa has brought them

A Secret Santa is back and this Christmas is bigger than ever!
The EastIdahoNews.com team is busy helping a local man gift more than $500,000 this holiday season. A lot more. Secret Santa is a real person who wants to remain anonymous and hopes to help as many individuals in our community as he can.
Misty and Ben Ashley have 12 kids between the ages of 17 and one. Many are adopted or in the process of being adopted due to special circumstances.
Both parents work extremely hard. Ben wakes up around 4 a.m. and doesn't get home until after 10 p.m. some nights. Misty works in the evenings and gets home around 1 a.m. They never complain and always have a smile on their faces.
The Ashleys got a 15 passenger van from the junkyard a few years ago but it's broken and has been sitting in their driveway for months. They aren't able to travel anywhere together and need new furniture so everyone has a place to sleep.
Secret Santa heard about their circumstances and asked the East Idaho News elves to surprise them. Watch the video above to see what happened!

A lot of men don’t cry because we have been socialized through over many many generations to send ourselves and our sons off to war, and to make other sacrifices as well. In a lot of cases women will choose men who are more stoic than those who express their emotions. I believe that is changing though :)

I know this family personally. I work with misty for a non profit in out town. These kids are not all theirs biologically but they always treat them the same as if they were and teach them respect, hard work and responsibility. The older boys always come help do our setup for our main even every november. They are amazing kids

They generally aren't lazy, they generally are nice people and will work and do things for others, this just proves yet again, its all in how you raise them and care for them. You can tell they do their best with what they have and don't ask for help. Those kids are well cared for and loved for sure you can just tell from the video. A very deserving family in deed to get that new Van, it'll take care of them for many years....loved how one of the kids said hey we can take the old one back to the junk yard LOL. I bet with that many family members the account at the furniture store is gonna definitely get a lot of use. I couldn't imagine having that many kids...I have none at all, but I do take care of co-workers kids, and of course family members kids occasionally and its so much fun and so rewarding oh and to have a house that isn't so quiet LOL.

Boy, the cost for one of those 15 passenger vans…! Mom and Dad were so overjoyed by the furniture, and then to get the van! What an incredible load that had to remove from their shoulders. I have this vision of them packing that van full of camping gear, loading up the whole crew, and enjoying a week together in a national park (or two) this last summer. What an amazing gift from Secret Santa!

That has to be one of the sweetest most touching surprises ever. Especially with the response of the husband. His tears of gratitude said everything. What a special family. Thank you to who ever donated the vehicle. And especially for paying for the fees and taxes. So many people are gifted big items, but they're not able to keep them because of the taxes and fees. This is amazing. As the 2nd youngest of a family with 11 kids I know how hard it is for this family. My father worked 2 jobs for many years and never got any help from anyone. We never had Christmas gifts until my older siblings were able to help my father out. Even though you don’t have much you learn to be happy with what you have. Thanks for helping this family

You can just imagine how many times that father thought of affording such a vehicle, only to abandon such whimsy as just a fantasy. That fantasy just came true thanks to our favorite Secret Santa and his crew of elves/elfs... Nate Eaton is our person of the year, Nate can and does find the right tone and empathy as well as joy in each gift he delivers. Also kudos and blessings to the team/crew supporting this miracle come each year, they are outstanding.

@@Bretttt24 adopting kids is great. But it's selfish to just do it because YOU WANT TO. You should only do it if you feel prepared for it. Especially if you have a big family struggling already. children don't have much a choice on who they get adopted by, now do they? So make it count for them

The lady was pretty thankful and happy with the check and furniture, but she and her husband both lost it when they saw the new van-a way for the family to all be together. That meant more than a new couch. Nice, deserving family! 🎅🏻

Having a vehicle to be able to haul around the whole family is such an important part of a family, people don't understand it usually because many have maybe 2-3 children so most vehicles can handle that pretty well...but when you have a large family being able to transport them all for any reason is such a huge deal, and not easily accomplished without a very large vehicle to do so. That's such a huge relief for sure seeing them get a new van and everyone piling in LOL. The only thing I didn't care for with the Passenger vans is the seats don't fold down like a mini-van so in order to use it to haul cargo the seats have to be removed, but those vans are so versatile and for this family the best thing they could get and have for years go come.

I watch a family that has adopted older kids so they have 6 teens in high-school. One kid picked on the one that wasn't adopted yet, yeah, that wasn't smart. Her sister adopted as well so if it had been a normal year they would have had 6 cousins to deal with as well.

I'm a single mom for the pass 11 years and I am reminding her how we are very thankful for the little and what God has provided for us. Seeing this man so freely emotional infront of his family is such a strong testament to who he is. The mother lasted a little longer, ultimately letting it all out when she saw the van but these are two people who I fully believe fit the descriptions we heard about them being "The best parents" Usually, people with this many children are in that position because they're sleeping around or completely reckless protection wise. These two have this many kids because they have enough love to give to go around all of them! And it truly shows! You can see just by looking that they have raised very healthy, happy, kids and in a loving, providing, wonderful home. It is HARD to raise this many kids, harder to do it in such a way that they all remain happy, healthy and good kids and these two are making it look easy. Kudos to the parents, they deserved this gift, and I hope this family is still thriving as they were this time last year.

Well, it was apparent pretty quickly that the dad wasn't going to be able to hold back his emotions, but when Mama Bear broke down after seeing the van, I just lost it. And all the love and support the kids were displaying was just so touching!! They were such appreciative recipients, you could certainly tell. Wishing them all the best Christmas ever!!
