Elena Produnova (RUS) showed an extremely difficult routine. She was really mesmerizing... but all the risk didn't pay out in the end.

She deserved a higher score. She performed a great routine.❤

Her last pass did it I guess... the judges saw the mistake and took their chance to deduct something.... It was a beautiful routine though!

Imma say Produnova is the best forward tumbler in WAG history. Period! Debate me!
@intldawn3 ай бұрын
Lilia Podkopayeva is up there for me. 😁 Produnova’s floor from the 2000 Olympics is even more impressive, where she does her signature tumbling pass and a punch layout right into a double front. Plus her signature double front dismount on beam. INSANE. I’d say Lilia’s handspring fly spring double front half she started doing in ‘95 was even more impressive. Plus overall her technique was better and she had better variety of tumbling. Elena was so amazing as a front tumbler but she really struggled with her spatial orientation when going backward.

Always was underscored , if she will be American she will have gold

Yeah the Americans really cleaned up during this quad thanks to gifts from judges, didn't they? EDIT: FYI the USA women earned ONE medal in this 97-00 quad -- team bronze from the Sydney Olympics, which they received in *2010* after the Dong Fangxiao controversy that started in Beijing 2008.

yes, she deserved gold over boring routine by Korkina

Totally agree with you..... The final results were Gogean over Khorkina and then Produnova.... it was ridiculous! Khorkina received the same score as Gogean, but still won only the silver medal as it seemed.... I think they tried new rules.... If you tied, they checked the better score from the prelims or so....

@@Boban1611 Correct. The only year they ever used such a system; otherwise, BB results would've been 1. Gogean, 2T. Khorkina+Kui, and FX would've been: 1T. Gogean+Khorkina, 3. Produnova. Of course, Bakhtina and Kuznetsova were originally qualified here for RUS but pulled (Bakhtina also made BB over Produnova). IMO, the results of EFs that year should've been: VT: 1. Amanar, 2. Zhou, 3. Varga (1st if she'd listed her Phelps as a layout instead of a pike- so silly) UB: 1. Khorkina, 2. Bi, 3. Meng BB: 1. Khorkina, 2. Kui, 3. Gogean FX: 1. Produnova, 2. Khorkina, 3. Gogean

@@Boban1611Tiebreakers are stupid. If the athletes earn the same score that day, they should share the medal. A gymnast could have been sick during prelims and much healthier during event final. So she should lose a placement in event final because she was sick a week earlier?
