Elephant Butte Lake ( White Sand Beaches & Turquoise Water) New Mexico

Elephant Butte Lake is New Mexico’s largest lake and was formed by a dam built in 1916 on the Rio Grande. It is around 40 miles long and surrounded by white sandy beaches. The water is clear and a beautiful turquoise color.

It gets it's name from a butte that is said to look like an elephant lying on its side. I didn't see anything like that. lol

Lol. The sand actually is very white. It just looks gray when the clouds are shading it. :)
