Domesticated elephants are simillar to horse keeping in western countries The chains are needed to controll the animal + it depends on the individual character of it Its quite difficult for a human of 60-70 Kg to manage a huge animal with a weight of 3 - 5 tons & consumes about 300KG food per day Normally the mahouts looks after the animal well

Giving water is good. But we will get more satisfaction if we give some coconut leaf , coconut and jaggery, from our home..It will be nice to watch how easily it breaks the shelled coconut! (suggestion only)

Recently read a story about a mahout beating his 20 year old elephant to DEATH bc the starving elephant ate the mahout's unattended vegetables. Imagine beating an elephant TO DEATH. The holes all over the elephant were packed with mud and the elephant was transferred to a different district to hide the torture.

This elephant seem calm and it like drink water and be arrosed, like all elephants. Why put chains after her paws and between her neck and her hind paw? Over time he may have scratches on his skin at the bottom of each paw....

Wheelboy58, that is how they train elephants; they beat the elephant continuously, poke its tender ears with bullhook and put these chains right from they were babies. The chains continuously remind the elephant who the boss is and if the elephant doesn't obey, he know what wold happen.

The chains are there for a reason, elephants get a common thing called musth, it effects every mail elephant turning them into aggressive beats that show 0 mercy, this common thing can happen at anytime so they tie the elephant with the chains so it cannot run fast.

On another matter, 1:30 - 1:38 - looks like the elephant hardly swallowed any of that water, it looks like he splashed it all out behind him. How will he beat dehydration if he sprays out all of the water he sucked up rather than drinking it?

Killing animals on daily basis for meat consumption ( some bullshit protein intake argument ) is animal cruelty 100% An employee here has to work like a dog to survive his life here ( say IT employee ) .If at all you care for cruelty, try stop these things first.Here humans dont have freedom then what about animals We dont like to use machines , we will limit them as much as possible . .Elephant is a great way to extract work until it is not exploited. . Machines require capital , expenditure on resources and a lot of complication; thats the way we see it and oh yeah, a great way to keep the capitalists and manufacturers to keep getting richer; Elephants require a lot of food and love and we are happy to give them both. . In Kerala there are many domesticated elephants; mishaps happen only a few places % is very less. . Hope you get the bigger picture
