For Penboon ( Hong Fah ) She 16 Years Old, her journey is a fortunate one.
She is not so different from most baby elephants who are born captive and soon are stolen from their mothers. From a tender age, she was moved from one place to another, to perform largely for tourists. She was forced to learn many "skills" and has some notoriety in Thailand for that.
But Penboon is one of the lucky ones, who now is rescued while yet young. Thanks to Pra Arjarn Moche from the Wat Rattanawan temple, and Khun Maew, and all of her team, to give Penboon this chance for freedom and friendship with her own kind. She arrived at Elephant Nature Park on December 9, 2020.

It’s very hard to watch the first two minutes of this video. It angers me to see people exploiting animals for their entertainment when they are aware of their plight. It’s too much information out there for someone to claim ignorance. 😠😩. I’m glad Penboon is now in paradise. 🙏🏾🐘

Yeah, God fucking forbid that they are allowed to keep their babies for one. I wonder if the pandemic hadn't struck...she'd still be there working....like a slave. Only reason I heard for him to give her up was cause she ate but didn't work...

I understand how you feel because I feel the same way. I get very upset and angry when I hear that anyone would hurt an innocent creature that’s just a baby and that the abuse continues for years. I really want to put an end to elephant abuse I speak out about it at Toastmasters and to anyone else that cares to listen wherever I go. ☮️

But we do need to understand that mother animals do not typically remain with their young longterm. And the humans needed to earn a living to feed their own young.
@graycful4111
@graycful4111 3 жыл бұрын
@@michellegrovak this is not true of elephants. They are incredibly social animals. They live in herds and take care of their young. All the females behave like nannies not just the mother. It is not uncommon for elephants to charge in herds when another elephant is in distress in the wild (from lions). They migrate in herds and are used to walking long distances. When one of their herd dies, they visit the spot where the bones are every year on the same day their relative has died, and they touch and caress the bones with their trunks. They have a right to be elephants not slaves to ignorant humans.

Being poor doesn’t give anyone the right or excuse to exploit or abuse another living thing!
@alking4153
@alking4153 3 жыл бұрын
They ,I mean trekking camp's pay bribes to the government so they won't be banned so as long as politician's take payoffs elephant riding and abuse will continue, someone asked about the other's the answer is they sold one to cut overhead so when tourism is allowed again they have elephant's for tourist to ride and the money they made selling 1 elephant's freedom keeps the business alive. And their not poor get it they still have a business so now you have a better idea of what's going on.
@exiledeve
@exiledeve 3 жыл бұрын
Agree, but while being poor does not justify the exploitation of animals, at least it explains it. What I cannot fathom is the rich, western tourists who promote those business riding elephants for fun and taking pictures for their frigging instagram and likes. They're privileged; they can't claim they're poor or uneducated about the issue and yet, they still do it. No demand, no business. End the demand.
@majesticworld255
@majesticworld255 3 жыл бұрын
@@exiledeve I think your comment is both valid and well stated, I applaud you, on the other hand, I will not be so succinct, I'd give the "tourist" a free ride, on the end of my foot, they're selfish.
@alking4153
@alking4153 3 жыл бұрын
@@exiledeve trying to be woke ? Clear you have no idea 80% of the tourism is Asian mainly Chinese and Indian and few Americans will ride elephant's the Australian, English, and Americans are the one's volunteering and supporting places like ENP seems you ( can't fathom much ) Americans travel to see cultural sites or to party the Chinese come in organized bunches with guide's who get a kickback from the trekking camp's for bringing them there ,being poor lol the trekking camp owner's do really well they love their gold chain's sun glasses, and latest model car's so you have nothing right about how trekking camp's are run or who visit them you are the uneducated one and the biggest camps are Chinese owned and it's on the guided tour that keeps the money coming in you see a few minutes of tape and can't wait to puke out foolish miss information ,trekking camp's are built on Lie's and bribes to government officials to stay in business and are run in a criminal fashion. So no more poor stories you don't see the owner's just a stooge selling an elephant for the owner to support his lifestyle, maybe a new SUV.
@junepearl7993
@junepearl7993 3 жыл бұрын
Al King that seems a little harsh toward Exiled Eve. She is against the exploitation of animals, just as you are. Maybe she got some details wrong, but it's true that these trekking camps can't exist without someone spending money to come there. Aren't Australians and English people westerners? So she was partly right.

Seeing those elephants swaying and in chains makes me really really angry🤬 it’s disgusting seeing them in that state, they all need to go to elephant sanctuaries and be free but protected. Watching her see the other elephants was breathtaking and she has a beautiful smile, elephants are extremely intelligent and like all animals they have their own personalities and emotions, I’d say there more intelligent than most humans. We need too stop elephants and other animals being used for entertainment poaching and tourism, they belong in their herds as a family and they need to be somewhere safe away from humans, let them go back to being elephants. We ALL need to do more to save elephants.🥰😇❤️🙏
