It’s simply beautiful, I love all of your cakes👍💕 Thank you so, so much for giving us the cake sizes and price...this is perfect for us that don’t have a clue on how much cakes go for. I know that per your tips it all depends on our level of decoration talent and area where we leave what will determine the price of our cakes, but definitely you gives us an awesome visual to compare talent & prices. Thank you, thank you, thank you. You are super sweet and amazingly talented👍💕

When you roll out fondant this thick ,how long do you let it sit before you start tracing and cutting out your piece
@KarolynsKakes2 ай бұрын
Usually around 20 minutes or so to make sure it stiffens up!

What is the tool you were using to deepen around the elephants ears it was black with kinda flat end

Can you paint your pieces with gel colors or do you use dusting powders only
@KarolynsKakes3 ай бұрын
I'm sure you could, but the gel will take a while to dry and could smear. The dusts are easy and look more natural (at least to me!)

How thick is the fondant elephant
@KarolynsKakes3 ай бұрын
About 1/2 - 3/4 inches thick. Thick enough to screw a skewer into the bottom without it showing!

How do you get your buttercream so white? Mine always comes out off- white 😒
@odiecutex32 жыл бұрын
If you add a tiny drop of purple it should cancel out the yellowish tint in the buttercream~

Love, love your videos! Couple of questions. How thick do you roll the fondant for names and for pictures? I see they are 2 different sizes. Also how much tylose powder do you use in the fondant to hold their shape?
@KarolynsKakes2 жыл бұрын
Thank you Dawn! It depends on what I want the name to look like. In this video, I made it thicker so it could stand on its own. Other times I roll the fondant really thin and cut the letters that way. I have a few different videos showing names! And the amount of Tylose all depends on how soft the fondant is. I start with 1/2 - 1 teaspoon and see how it sets. If it's still too soft, I will add another 1/2 - 1 tsp until I get it to the right consistency.

Great tutorial❤. I just got my ribbon cutting thing from Amazon today😁 Not cake related but do you teach pole dancing too? I would love to get into that cuz I heard it’s great exercise and it looks really cool.
@KarolynsKakes2 жыл бұрын
I used to teach pole fitness! I loved it so much, but I dealt with persistent injuries and had to stop. I really miss it, it is one of the best workouts I've ever done and it is so much fun! I just teach yoga now. Much less stress on your body LOL If you try it, just remember to go at your own pace and listen to your body!
@louiselemon97172 жыл бұрын
Absolutely beautiful! How far in advance did you make the elephant, letters as they are thick? Do they need to be solid before applying to the cake? I did attempt your graduation cap but it didn't really harden and I'm guessing I didn't have enough Tylose. (I had it out for 3 days) I either don't have enough or too much Tylose.🤷♀
@KarolynsKakes2 жыл бұрын
I made the letters and elephant 24 hours in advance. And, yes, it sounds like you needed more tylose. Especially for the grad cap. Since that has to stand on its own, I usually add a lot of the powder so it will dry really hard!
@WillDisclose-di8nn Жыл бұрын
Gotta try this method! Its so cool! Did you come up with it Karolyn?
