@@Nijaral it's entering its third year, and the first 1.5 years was all support from the initial kickstarter, now it's starting to actually ramp up with live events and the online client. what do you think will happen in a year that would make people drop it?

I was thankfully able to get one of the extra tickets they added on the wait-list. I'm new to the game, but over the next two months I'll be playing as much as I can to try to get one of those top spots at the tournament.

While I know it might not be feasible now, I would LOVE if they experimented with something new and tried doing a hybrid system of remote and physical play. Hear this out: They set up like a handful (~8) of PCs set up to do remote play and a 2nd remote event is played alongside the pysical tournament. Once they get to top 8 players on both sides a 2nd top 16 round is added. So basically both events play till their top 16, cut half, and then you have each event's top 8. From there those events merge to a 2nd round of top 16. Call it like top 16 merger round. The event is then carried out as normal but some remote players can proceed if they make it. The idea is to allow for remote players, like overseas or cannot go for some reason, an opportunity to play in these super premier events. This has less application for like a regional/nats level thing, but maybe more for like worlds.

If your concern is time and events taking too long 1. it's just 1 more round 2. you could "cut out" a round like top 32 or 64 that doesnt mean a whole lot and take a more agressive "top quarter cut". So rather than go from 32-> top 16 you go top32-> top8. OR just start at top 32 rather than 64, do 128->32 (top quarter cut)

For the PNM, is it possible to put the full vods somewhere? I know just showing up on stream in a chalislime is a really big thing for a lot of amateur players, and having that be completely lost to history as soon as the VOD expires isn't ideal.

Selfishly, I liked that it was a smaller event. I was able to get a badge because I literally sat on the landing page hitting refresh at 11:58am. It is cool that they released more badges, but I just hope they have the staff and space to make it work.

this is definitely cool, but running a major like this without any word on greater distribution outside of america is definitely something to think about for the team, feels really weird for it to *still* be US only.

I'm in the UK and we're gonna be able to get Moonrise products with 5 to 7 days shipping so there must be more distribution that they just haven't publicly talked about yet

it ships worldwide from the official store, and talks with international distributors has been happening for as long as it's been reasonable to have those conversations, ball's just in their court at this point

I've been to Grand Opens with less than 20 people before for other small TCGs so over a hundred people clamoring to get into this event is really promising.

I've mostly been really impressed with elestrals so far. They've been pretty good with realistic expectations and not dong more than a small company can mange. Though I will admit part of me is hoping for an ambitious failure just cause it would be funny.

The event being in Dallas is unfortunate when one of the top players in the world is trans for sure effects some folks traveling plans trying to scope out how safe it is to go to Texas. There is a non zero chance in two months in Mesquite they'll hage anti "Cross dressing" laws, bathroom bills, etc meaning even if a trans player wanted to come their at a significant disadvantage from the stress alone. Obviously, trans people still live everywhere but flying going past multiple rounds of TSA, booking a hotel in Dallas then having to get a ride for a technically safter hotel or doing one in Mesquite. There is a lot there. Obviously they will still hage webcam events just a shame that a lot of talent is likely not to feel comfortable at the event.

Other games have had plenty of events in Dallas and no trans people have ever harassed for attending. Most people in Texas aren't transphobic, that's just a bunch of political fear mongering.

Me and two of my buddies are Texans and we absolutely don't stand for bigotry like this. While we can try our best to stop these backwards laws from happening, the very least we can do is make our trans community members feel safe and welcomed. We will be there at the event and hope everyone has an awesome time together!!

it really is a shame, and the best we can do (im staff) is assure you that our event is open to EVERYONE and no bigotry will be tolerated. i know that assurance likely isnt enough in the face of what's been going on down there, but we can only control what we can control and we're gonna do our very best. im just one of several queer members of staff and we want our fellows to know we intend to foster a safe community for them, however we're able.
