It doesn't really matter. I don't know why Dr need to get married. He's an alien who never dies and his companions always changes. River song was so badass, so great but she became Dr's wife(!) and gave us a cringy lovestory! If she wasn't his wife, just another companion, would her character be any less! Dr. clearly loved all his companions most ardently including Rivers mother. Wasn't it enough! I love Clara because, this is the only relation where they can be just who they're. Just themselves. Only they would understand each-other even if the other party shows their darkside/ weak side. And never judge. It only happened with Clara and no one else.

Zeinah Moualla well in the very end of doctor number 12 he remembers her. But she's always been my favourite. After losing two companion sets (rose and family, Amy and Rory) she still made him fall in love. Not in the same way but he fell in love enough. Just enough that he wasn't a bad man
