The first and only time I fished the Eleven Point river, I was so stressed out because I had to manage my kayak and try to fish. Beautiful scenery but I’ll stick to calm 10 acre lakes 😅.

Love your excitement, I've floated the Current all my life and really want to try out the Eleven Point. Thanks for posting this!

It’s a beautiful river! Richard’s Canoe is a great outfitter if you want to float it they’ll get you set 🤙

Twenty years ago I floated the Eleven Point -- most of my flyfishing is warm water but I managed to catch a trout or two drifting lead-eyed nymphs into holes below riffles. Beautiful area.

So glad so see this !! Plan on floating that river in a week !! I’ve fished all my life but never fly fished just ordered a rod from bass pro … any tips for newbies to fly fishin?? And what flies would be a good choice for that river ??
@rubeoonthefly42069 Жыл бұрын
Hey Samuel! My favorite flies here would be a black or brown Woolley bugger to imitate crawdads and minnows. Should pick up some smallmouth too! I also caught a lot of fish on a size 14 Duracell. It’s a brilliant pattern, most fly shops have them but they aren’t hard to tie either. Good luck! 🤙

I haven't ever fished the eleven point, but I have fished Roaring River which is in the same Mark Twain area. The best rig for that depth of the river in the summer months would be a double nymph indicator rig. I recommend watching some of Fly all SZNs vids for some rigs and stuff that works well. Just get pheasant tails in 14-18 area (usually Sz 16 always works) and some attractor nymph whether it is a bigger bead-head hares ear or something else like a pats rubber legs or small stone nymph. For the rig, I use a 9ft 5 weight with a WF line. A 5X leader is what I used in really pressured fisheries or a 4x for other ones like the eleven point for instance. Then I add about 3 ft of tippet. If using a hopper dropper, use a 5x tippet on the hopper and a 6 or 5x fluorocarbon tippet on the dropper. For actual nymph rigs, I use a new Zealand strike indicator with 5 or 6x fluoro nymphing tippets with 3 small split shots above the tippet to the leader knot. Also in the summer if it's not a big deep run just hopper dropper it's a lot of fun. (SORRY FOR RESPONDING LATE)

@@southerncastin2552 those are some outstanding tips 💯 👏 I know fly SZN likes to talk down on euro nymphing 😹 but it’s a fun way to fish. Hopper makes for a great indicator 👍 Fly fishing is fun and enjoyable for everyone and you can make it as hard or as easy as you like 🤙 Thanks for the great comment 🙏

When you are euro Nymphing and you tie your bottom fly on to the hook of your upper, does the fly line get in the way of a trout that is trying to take the upper fly with the fly line tied to the hook? All so how good does the fly line stay on the hook that has no barbs on it? Does the fly line slide off the barbless hook? Great video and river! Keep up the videos!!

Thank you 🙏 So I’ve been experimenting with different 2 fly setups this season and noticed that the line can get in the way of the fishes mouth if they take the upper fly. I’ve actually gone back to using dropper loops with a 4-6” tag. Or just using a triple surgeons knot to tie a tag fly off the end. The straight line connection I talk about in the video was more of a ‘lazy’ experiment 😂 after a while it can weaken with the line binding on itself. And I avoid tying off the bend unless it’s a dry fly with a barb. I don’t compete so I prefer a tag fly with a perfection loop. Thanks for the comment

@@rubeoonthefly42069 hey I was wondering where you put your raft into and where you take it out at. This Spring and summer I would like to float and fish. Do you have any information on put ins and take outs ( short and long distance). Did you use a shuttle? If not is there shuttles around that are safe? Thanks for any information you have!

@@LIVE4THEADVENTURE sorry for the late response. This trip I floated Greer to Whitten (2 day float) and used Richards Canoe for a shuttle service. Great folks and a great outfitter as well 🤙

What kind of boat do you have, I like the trolling motor setup?
@rubeoonthefly42069 Жыл бұрын
This is a Sea Eagle 437 Paddleski. Trolling motor is a game changer it can even handle a 10hp outboard motor. Great water craft

Rod 1: Orvis Recon 9’ 6wt (2019 version) Reel: Galvan RLT 5/6 (purple) Rod 2: Echo Shadow X 10’6” 3wt (broke half way through video 😅) Reel: Greys Tital 5/6 (silver/black) Rod 3: Moonshine Epiphany 10’ 4wt

@rubeoonthefly420694 ай бұрын
10’ 2wt is what I prefer in the ozarks. But after that rod broke I had to make do with a 10’ 4wt. Both can can the job done
