I appreciated you mentioning being too tired to walk. All the Vloggers spend part of a day in the parks. And they go all the time so they're always looking for what's novel and new, or to kill time. For those of us on a rare chance to visit, we have to do all the main things in a single day at each park sometimes. Day after day. And coming from a typical job without much walking to 20,000 - 25,000 steps a day. Walking is rarely worth the time or extra steps.
@kenlasky39043 жыл бұрын
I have the same feelings! I was thinking about that when he said they were going to take the monorail back to the hotel. I don’t think it really saved that many steps. Same number of steps but in a different direction. You have to walk to the monorail, which is away from the Contemporary. (You could probably have started walking towards the Contemporary and have been half way home.). Then, when you get off the monorail, you have to walk all the way through the contemporary and take the skywalk to the towers. You know, I think the towers are closer to the walkway than the Contemporary. That would save you the trip of walking through the contemporary and across the skyway. Now, if you’re hot and tired, the monorail might provide relief...

Love to see what’s going on! My first visit to WDW was in 1977. At that time, there were only two resorts, the Contemporary and the Polynesian. I think Ft Wilderness Campgrounds was there, but it really was only for people with RV’s, There were plans for 3 more resorts to be added to the monorail line. I can’t remember the themes, but the only space that got used is where the Grand Floridian is now. I don’t remember the original theme, but they had huge maps in all the contemporary rooms that showed the future resorts. One of the resorts was supposed to be “behind” Magic Kingdom. There IS a monorail leg of track that goes out there, but I think a maintenance place for the monorails is built there. So, it’s kind of only used for maintenance. Now, I don’t know if it’s still there, but look out the left side of the monorail as it goes from the TTC to Magic Kingdom. (Counter-clockwise.). About halfway between TTC and the Contemporary you will see a square piece of land jutting out into the 7 Seas Lagoon. They were going to build a resort there and the rooms would have gone to the waters edge. But, they found that the ground was too soft, so the resort was never built.
@kenlasky39043 жыл бұрын
OMG! I just realized that I was 27 on my first trip to WDW! I went there right after we closed our community theater production of HELLO DOLLY. I was cast as Barnaby Tucker because I still looked like I was 19 years old. I think Barnaby was supposed to be 17, but that was too much of a stretch. I DID look like 19! 🙂🙃🙂
@kenlasky39043 жыл бұрын
Oh! And in 1977 there was no walkway to Magic Kingdom. You had to board the monorail for what, a 500 ft ride? Well, maybe a little longer. But so many people walked through the parking lots (in danger) they eventually painted a walkway. Now, it’s nicely landscaped.
@kenlasky39043 жыл бұрын
There is a great video on KZbin titled Abandoned - The Magic Kingdom Resorts. My memory was a bit off from my previous post. I do remember seeing that square piece of land jutting out into the Seven Seas Lagoon. it sat empty until the late 80’s and the Grand Floridian was built on it. The land that stuck out into the Seven Seas Lagoon on the other side of the lagoon between the TTC and the Contemporary was to be the Venetian Resort. It was cancelled by plans for the Mediterranean Resort which also got scrapped because of the poor quality of the land. I won’t spoil the whole video! It’s very interesting!

BLT was built in 2007-2009. USB chargers everywhere wasn't a thing then. It's due for a full "hard refurb" in a year or two and they'll rip is all out and bring it up to current standards with USB chargers, bigger TV, etc. It's coming.

My dear cousin and I stayed there in November for my Birthday trip rescheduled from early July. It was incredible. But TBH I'd prefer Poly. And because I'm frugal, I'd rather do Pop or even AllStars. Does the Monorail go to Disney springs as well? Hoping to book my first trip later this year
@kenlasky39043 жыл бұрын
No, the monorail does not go to Disney Springs. There are basically two monorail lines. Both “start” at the TTC (Transportation & Ticket Center). One goes to Magic Kingdom and also stops at the Polynesian hotel, the Contemporary Hotel and the Grand Floridian. The other monorail line goes to EPCOT. I’m lucky that I can remember when it was all being built. Now, with 4 parks, 2 water parks and Disney Springs, it’s gotten much more complicated. Anyone who now goes to WDW for the first must feel overwhelmed. The saving grace is that the employees (the cast members, and everyone has a role.) are friendly and very helpful. They DO go crazy after giving the same set of instructions 1,700 times a day. But, when cast members are “on-stage” they vow to be patient and polite to the guests. I suggest getting a hard copy guide to the parks. They explain a lot of the stuff. The “official” guide has the tone of a cast member. The “unofficial” guide tells it more like it is. Hey! If you don’t like walking, waiting in line, crowds, hot weather (most of the year), then WDW parks might not be for you! It’s explained in some of the “unofficial” guides! 🙂🙃🙂
@joshl93283 жыл бұрын
@@kenlasky3904 thank you so much for the detailed reply. Looks like I’ve got some research to do before booking the trip. I have looked into a few unofficial guides just to get a flavour on what each resort offers but to be honest, it just makes me not want to go. I love Disney and want to visit all the parks but i also dont want to live and breath Disney throughout my vacation. Also being told that if i stay in a disney resort i can get fastpass before people who stay off site and when i should book dining reservations etc. Its way too much but if i dont precook, i feel like we’ll miss out on experiences. Just seems like you have to preschedule your vacation to a fine detail but what happens if you dont feel like it on the day.?
@kenlasky39043 жыл бұрын
@@joshl9328 I hear ya! I hear ya! After hearing all the “happy” music all day, I want to get away from it for a while. But, at the resorts you might hear it in the restaurants or the hallways. After staying at some of the resorts (because you do need to experience them) I usually stay at a “friendly neighbor” hotel like the Hilton at Disney Springs. All you need to do is cross the street and you’re at Disney Springs. The Hilton has free bus transportation to the parks. - or- You can catch a bus at Disney Springs to go to any Disney resort. You can take the bus to Contemporary and walk to Magic Kingdom. If you want to go anywhere else you can probably catch transportation at the contemporary. If you stay at a Disney friendly neighbor hotel you get all the perks of a resort (like early reservations for dinners and attractions.). Of course, you won’t have Minnie and Mickey there, but even though I love Disney, I don’t need it all 24 hours. And when you’re NOT at a Disney Resort, you’ll be paying half the price for a better room. That’s not an opinion. It’s a fact. 🙂🙃🙂

100 percent feel DVC is worth it. If you talk to any member the one things they will tell you is they wish they bought in sooner. Prior to purchasing our membership I stayed at Poly, Grand, and contemporary for average of five nights each trip paying cash. Those trips alone was the total cost of our membership. You have it for 50 years. 100 out of10 recommend.
@lirr4083 жыл бұрын
I am a member . I love it. The pluses for me is that you book rooms on points and do not have to pay for the room. Yes , you do pay fees yearly , but don't have to pay for hotel room as long as you have the right number of points. Also, you can stay in a better resort than on a cash stay. The reason I did it is because as much as I love the parks, I also really enjoy my time in the resort room to relax . The All Star Movies room that Kyle showed was one of the main reasons I purchased points in Saratoga Springs. The difference is like night and day. However, it just has to do with your needs.
@patriciajackson14573 жыл бұрын
We have been DVC members since 2003. I highly recommend it. The first year we bought an annual pass and we’re able to visit three times that year with our points. My suggestion to save on points is to do Sun. - Thurs. stays, at a studio. We are a family of 5, so we stayed at studios that sleep 5.

However I just stayed at Pop Century and did not hear a peep out of my neighbors on either side, and they were definitely there. I don’t recall hearing noises when I stayed at the other values in the past, but definitely did at Coronado...which is a Moderate. The Deluxes I’ve stayed at (3 of them), I don’t recall neighbor noise.

It has a giant living area, a good TV, 2 bathrooms (the second one being wayyy nicer and larger than Kyle’s room), a separate bedroom, a whole table, and a good/sized kitchen. So don’t run away from Bay Lake Tower because of this video, there are some good room options in the hotel :)

I totally agree with you Kyle, a deluxe resort should NOT have a shower curtain! Overall the room is really nice and the location is amazing! Happy belated birthday!

@@KylePalIo the location of bay lake is amazing but the shower at pop century is way nicer and I like that the pop offers the skyline and buses!

It’s bay lake you’re overlooking, not seven seas lagoon. Seven seas lagoon is in between magic kingdom and the Polynesian. And the saying is,”out of date” not “out to date”. It’s ok, our family still loves you and your videos. Keep up the great work

I'm surprised that your room was a deluxe. The room was really small, no sub plugs and the bathroom was so small and had no deluxe feel to it. With the deluxe name comes the deluxe price. Your bathroom in your last resort was bigger and nicer. With saying that I found the outside look to your last resort to look cheap. They went overboard on all of the large structures Disney out up. It was really nice to see this resort and it is close to Magic Kingdom.

so to me it didnt seem small small. The all star movies was small small. This is common for deluxe rooms
