It's so crazy to me that Mercy has been changed nearly every patch since OW2's release. Like, I know the dev team is mostly new people that weren't around in OW1. But it just goes to show how out of touch they are with the balance side of things, that they can't even decide an avenue to stick to for her.

Mercy’s movement was never the problem; it was arguably damage boost and rez (mostly damage boost). They could’ve kept the critical healing but restricted it to Valkyrie only and COMPLETELY reverted her GA back to season 1 but nah I guess

I feel like the game was so balanced that when they tried making the season 4 patch they just had to create problems because they couldn’t think of anything. Like the rein and sig nerfs were random and unnecessary and the brig and Moira buffs were also random. Also they had everyone breathing down their necks about mercy, mercy mains and people playing against mercy so they needed to change her asap. Then instead of actually fixing the problem they just nerf her movement again? For the second season in a row? Thank you blizzard you failed miserably yet again!

@@ixgodlydemonx3464 the season wasn’t that bad. It was the matchmaking that was bad. The only problem heroes were really Ball and Mercy. Ball is unkillable without zen Discord and really high burst damage comps on top of that, then Mercy was making people borderline unkillable with crit healing. Sometimes the only way to get kills against a Mercy team were by playing oneshot heroes like Widow and even then she could Rez the first kill usually lol

i’m worried about the guardian angel nerf, i’m really hoping she’s not gonna be clunky and difficult to play. i’m expecting many mistakes that are gonna get mercy players killed, especially since guardian angel is her only skill to really keep her alive since her kit isn’t really meant for defending yourself. she’s my favourite character to play so i hope they don’t ruin her play style with these nerfs. i’m really looking forward to the skin tho :)

I think it would be neat to tie burst healing to the GA meter in some way. This leans into the "swooping in to save somebody" fantasy with extra healing without making it unlimited like crit healing.

I reserve my opinion for after I get my hands on the controls with the new changes. I am annoyed that the techs got nerfed. It feels like they keep changing the things that nobody is complaining about when it comes to how Mercy affects the game, instead of the thing that influneces the pocketed DPSes the most: Damage Boost. I look forward to adapting to the changes, yet again. Eley inspired me to love Mercy's mobility, at the height of when it was most crazy. Even after it was most heavily nerfed, I still love how I get to zoom like a mad savior and get solo ulted for how much I keep my team in the fight and killing others. I love having ridiculous assists and ludicrous objective lingers. I will stay a Mercy follower for good!

Technically if you just use GA to fly in and don’t do any jump or slingshot, it’s better because you only have the 1.5s cooldown that way. But it’s such engrained muscle memory for mercy players to do either of those things for every GA that it will be hard to adjust

these new changes are interesting for sure. these devs sure know how mercy is played and love changing how her play style is every season 😭 imo the GA changes probably won’t be noticeable since most Mercy have gotten used to the 2.5 second but short ga with usage of crouch/jump will be feel shit for sure since that’s the biggest change. her healing getting reverted was a surprise but understandable. i suspect mercy will fall from a good pick to a niche pick once more and the devs probably won’t look at her until s5 what can you expect from a bunch of developers who cater to dps players 🙄

I've mentioned this before on another channel but, I feel like we could actually rework mercy but not in the way you think. I believe we have an untapped potential if we lean more towards the way the swift response wings actually work and build off of that. For example: guardian angel, we could do a charge feature where instead of just an initial cooldown of 2.5 seconds we have 2 charges with a cooldown of 4 seconds. I feel like in the right hands she would be impactful but not broken. Mercy is all about micromanaging and I believe giving her some depth to her movement like how she had depth with her healing in season 3 would be the best move, think about it. An in field example would be when an ally teammate down and she can res, she would have one charge to go in and a charge to go out, then have some downtime after where she could be vulnerable but not to the point where she's a liability. And it would also show who has skill when it comes to her movement, a new or less skilled mercy would burn her cooldowns, leaving no room for escape while more skilled players would micromanage the cooldowns for the best plays. Other than this I believe the healing buff should return but not as strong, and therefore nerf the damage boost and resurrect for obvious reasons. Well if i understand well, mercy will have a 3sec cd on guardian angel if she jump or dash forward, so it's the same cd as live. But if we don't jump we have à 1.5sec cd. So it's technically a (small) buff right ? I'm just a little dissapointed about the burst heal on the low allies. I tought it suits very well to the "medic gameplay" of mercy, so sad that it's removed. If they found that frustrating, they could nerf a little the numbers, like 35% heal increase instead of 50%. But the throw back on the 55 hp/sec heal is very satisfying Anyway always a huge pleasure to see your mercy gameplay, each videos makes me feel you understand the character so well that you're probably the real mercy :p

can they just stop hating mercy, huh? GA is her ABILITY. Not all mercy players can use all potential of GA and it's normal to learn new moves. With all updates we get casual heroes and devs slowly kill mercy. Game become faster and they nerf Mercy's only one escape. If u nerf Mercy, then nerf Kiriko and Ana, i'm done seeing them in ALL games. Eleyzhau thank you for not giving up on Mercy and showing us that she is still playable

Crit healing broke her a little.... if u compare to Bap / Kiriko / Ana which has some critical skills and a 10+ sec cooldown it was a little unfair (And she heals through shields, can't forget that)

I think it's so bizarre they got rid of the triage feature and not the sympathy heal - now it's even harder for mercy to survive by herself. I don't think sympathy healing was what was broken about it, just the combo. You also get into problems with your teammates being at full health! I would have totally swapped them. I wish they'd stop messing with her movement too, the whiniest players are always gonna be bad at aiming and making her even harder to play isn't gonna change that 🙄 all it does is little by little make her less fun to play 🙄

Matchmaking is still broken to be fair. I quit playing halfway through the season because, in Diamond, I was getting games with people from silver to gm. Made the games just feel like luck and had nothing to do with skill.

Zen/Mercy is a good comp. Lucio is the only support I genuinely wouldn’t pair Mercy with. Lifeweaver looks like he might be rough to play her with though, especially once crit healing is gone for season 4 though.

How do you know when to valk during fights?

Mercy main here. You wanna use valk either for fight momentum or whenever the enemy team uses their ults and you notice your team is about to get dumpstered. It’s very situational though. Sometimes you should hold onto your valk in order to regroup because some fights are just unwinnable, like if you’re down 2 dps or down tank.

When there’s more than one person critical or if my healer dies, don’t hesitate to use it. It doesn’t take long to build and it’s not too much of a game changing ult that you can waste it. Sometimes I ult if the enemy mercy uses theirs for a push. I also use valk to save myself from death if my team isn’t all dead.

They’re not. They’ve added a new cooldown of 1.5 seconds if you jump or slingshot at the end of GA, meaning the cooldown is now 3 seconds long. It was 2.5 for season 3, meaning in 99% of cases the cooldown will now be .5 seconds longer than it already is now.

the movement of mercy just became clunky, like when you've eaten too much pizza and ice-cream on the same night, they could have nerfed the healing boost slight, but not remove it completely, the extra cd on the crouch/jump is riddiculous, worst patch since last last years april-fools patch LOL (not mercy main btw)
