@Gooseage To add, the only comment of mine I see is the one in the "highest rated comments" area that was posted 9 months ago, thus that's what I figured you were responding to. Ill also say this again. The only reason Joey has guest played with the bands he has, is due to his popularity. And take note how each band he's guest drummed for has rather simplistic drumming. This is why you'll never see him drum for a worth while band like Meshuggah or Benighted. He'll remain a gimmick, nothing more

@jpocalips1 Very well said. The music of today I think does not compare to what I grew up with. I came about in the early 80's when Dio was becoming a big star after he left Sabbath. HOLY DIVER was one of the 1st albums I ever bought and I listen to it religously. Butterfly Ball was a little before my time but, I love anything Dio has ever done. I would have been about 3 years old when this came out. Who knows, I might have seen this as a child. I can't remember. I love Ronnie's work.

@Gooseage It was a very safe assumption as you never once eluded to anything otherwise. That, along with the examples of other artists he's preformed with, kind of makes it hard to NOT think you're talking about stage presence. No shit people can like what they like. That was never in question. But that doesn't change the fact that some people like undeniable shit. Kids enjoy ICP and Justin Beiber, neat for them, but just because they enjoy them doesn't mean they aren't talentless tripe.
@Cessate14 жыл бұрын
@Gooseage ...People can enjoy whatever they want to enjoy. But acknowledge talent where talent resides. You can be the biggest Beiber fan ever, but don't try to justify him as the a legitimate singer. You can be the biggest Nickleback fan ever, but don't try to justify them as great rock heroes. You can be the biggest Jordison fan ever, but don't try to justify him as some extraordinarily brilliant drummer How this simply concept escapes you is amazing. @Metalwurst666 I don't "lose" solely because you say I do. That's not how an argument, debate, nor the internet work. There are, in fact, genres of music that don't have a single redeeming factor in them. Especially if you know music. Nu-Metal being one of them.

@NightmareSnake It is fully logical. For example. If you woke up every morning to a burly man clapping both your ears as hard as he could, but got paid $500 afterwords, would you continue to do it, even though it will most likely cause deafness? Chances are no. Why? Because of the pain, and the sheer stupidity of it all.

After reading on I find that maybe I was judging some of todays music unfairly, I was wrong in saying they were all lame, their are in fact some incredible musicians out their, but I do feel many are only going through the motions, being a studio musician for over 25yrs. I find many of the up and coming players, tend to over riff, I find that many times a few notes in a solo played from the heart and with feeling can have a much larger impact on the listening audience, past reflects future.

@NightmareSnake Nickelback (and like bands), as well as their fans, are the same way. They listen to talentless drivel, with song structures similar to a child's nursery rhyme; with lyrics that could been written by a 6 year old little brother. I'm all for people listening to what they want to listen to. I have a diverse taste myself. But when you get 12 bands that sound similar in every single way (voice, lyrics, music etc), and people still flock to them as if they're great? There's an issue.

@Gooseage But when someone says something as silly as "ICP are good rappers", or "Justin Beiber is a good singer and song writer" (note that I'm using these as examples since I think even you can agree these acts are terrible), THEN I have issue with it. Fans can enjoy them all they like, but don't be so blinded by your own idiocy to claim they hold any legitimate talent, because they don't. This rule applies to Nu-Metal as well. Like what you like, but don't acknowledge mediocrity as talent.

@miser42 You generally need to have at least two people going back on forth with liable rebuttals to have an argument. That's not happening. What I did was make a statement, and what's happening is you telling me to give up on something I wasn't striving to do. Differentiate what an argument and a statement is before you try and barge in, making idiotic comments as such. It'll help you in the long run.

Now, if I was to dig into the 14 year old in me, and start swearing up a storm, and calling everyone wrong solely because I say so, then there'd be an issue in which you could justify your claim of how irrational I apparently am.
@Cessate14 жыл бұрын
@blavaburnulots I suggest you re-read then. I stated how I wasn't "hanging onto" anything, and then proceeded to answer your Dream Theater question. You're simply looking for a scapegoat to justify yourself now.

@Gooseage @Gooseage Boy, you're royally mixing up your "facts". It's actually pretty hilarious. Let me reiterate it for you myself. -The way you worded your comment made it sound as if you were claiming that Joey doesn't need talent as long as he looks good on stage. -Stage presence and skill DON'T go hand in hand. I never said otherwise. One can easily have one without the other. -You are the one who claimed that I said Stage Presence requires talent. Go back a page and read it yourself.

Music affects moods, thought process, and the general energy in the room; and frankly I (and many others around the world) don't enjoy having my ears tortured with talentless drivel.

I didn't blatantly say I take issue with people having different opinions than me at all. Again, a fallacy you created. What I said was.....
@Rampant799014 жыл бұрын
@NightmareSnake :o) As much as I respect your opinion, I have to say I'm laughing at you comparing the drummers you mentioned to say: Neil Peart. I've been involved in music for about 40 years now, and played before that. Have several friends in the biz , itself, and your rants defending the talent of your idol drummers are admirable, but obviously one of a young biased person , yet to learn a bit more about music, and definitely a bit about arguing over things you have not experienced yet.
@Gooseage14 жыл бұрын
@Cessate And your does not equal statement... Yeah I know what it means, do you? Because your statement really does support my argument. Let me recount it in words you can understand: You said my mentioning him playing live with other bands, that I meant stage presence not talent, and that he can't play. But if he has stage presence and can't play, that must mean that stage presence and ability to play do not go hand in hand.
@Gooseage14 жыл бұрын
@Cessate "Having good stage presence =/= talent. The facts of Joey being a mediocre drummer are in his playing." Happy to oblige :)

@Gooseage I put words in your mouth? Really? Can your prove this? Because I've yet to claim once that you've said anything you didn't. And threatened by Beiber? Where the hell do you get this garbage from? You're attempting to turn an example into some form of hidden ammunition to attack me with. Your logic makes no sense what so ever. I used Beiber as an example because his music is soulless and has no musical talent what so ever. It doesn't matter if he's 17 or 27, the verdict remains the same
@Cessate14 жыл бұрын
@miser42 Credentials on how Nu-Metal is bad? Try the simplistic lack lust musicianship. The teenage angst-ridden lyrics that come across as if a 13 year old who just got his Xbox taken away wrote them. Or perhaps the extreme cop-out to mainstream media where they play their souless music for money as opposed to anything else? I never thought in my life I'd have to actually justify to anyone with a brain as to why Nu-Metal is a joke amongst the music community.

@Gooseage Having good stage presence =/= talent. The facts of Joey being a mediocre drummer are in his playing. Any half-wit with even a tiny sense of music theory or ability can see and judge his skill. There's high-school bands out there with better technique. His rhythms and style are rehashed from band to band, and the only reason people get him to guest drum is due to his popularity with the musically demented. No shit Nu-Metal isn't unique. Where did that comment even come from?
@Cessate14 жыл бұрын
@Gooseage Did I state ANYWHERE that stage presence required no actual playing? No, I did not. Put more words in my mouth why don't you? I said that your statement sounded as if you were solely talking about stage presence, how was that lost on you? This is where you're blinded by pathetic morals and some misguided sense of "opinions mean everything is good". Can people like something I deem as bad? Yes. Do I ultimately care if they like it? No.
@NightmareSnake14 жыл бұрын
@Rampant7990 Zeppelin and Rush would have been my very first references if we were talking about drummers in general. But we weren't. We were talking about Nu-Metal musicians, and drummers just HAPPENED to come up. Ergo, Linkin Park, Korn, and Slipknot were what I mentioned. And that's also the type of music I play, and that experience is what justifies my views. Also, I wasn't attempting to "school", anyone, but seeing how much that comment bothered you, it looks like I did.
@Rampant799014 жыл бұрын
@NightmareSnake Wow! Schooled by a kid! Funny I thought you were talking about drummers. The musicians I have known, if I could count them include metal players, or "nu-metal" also, that you claim makes a difference, feel the same. We're not talking classical guitarist verses rock/metal guitarists here, we are talking drummers and talent. I know 1 producer in LA and 1 in NY who got quite the good belly laugh at your comment and we thank you. You'll grow, keep the rage for your music, kid. :o)

@Cessate Plus your channel even says you like Metal, Industrial, and Hip-Hop. How can you not like Nu-Metal when it is those 3 other genres combined?
@Cessate14 жыл бұрын
@NightmareSnake Nu-metal musicians can BARELY play their instruments. Let me put it in these terms. Drums for instance. Let's rank it on a 1 - 10 scale, 10 being as good as Neil Peart, thus a 6 would be about average. A nu-metal drummer would be roughly a 3, maybe a 4. And we aren't comparing Nu-Metal to Bieber, I was using him as an example to your bullshit claim that Nu-Metal is talented. I don't care what people listen to, but fact remains that there's talent, and then there's lack of talent
@NightmareSnake14 жыл бұрын
@Cessate Justin Bieber is talentless. The Jonas Brothers are talentless. Jesse McCartney is talentless. Linkin Park, Korn, Limp Bizkit, System Of A Down, Slipknot, Mudvayne, and Disturbed are not talentless. At least the people who DO like them like them for their MUSIC, not their LOOKS. @NightmareSnake You best not be claiming any of them are good musicians. Joey Jordison for one is ridiculously mediocre; there's better drummers in high school garage bands. I should also point out that repeating yourself isn't going to do anything, especially as it's nothing more than a hypocritical statement. You expect me to keep my opinion to myself, and yet here you are, consistently throwing out garbage like "these guys are good, blah blah blah". Take your own advice, perhaps?
