I think you're spot on with this. Elgar'nan and Solas' personalities are really fascinating. I thought that the Blood of Arlathan mission was one of the best pieces of back and forth dialogue between two characters, not just in this game but across Dragon Age in general; genuniely some of the best lines written and delivered. I have some deeper thoughts, but those enter into spoilery territory with end game analysis on Elgar'nan specifically, so I'll leave you with a big thumbs up instead

Gah! Now you have me even more excited for what’s to come. The similarities between them has been so interesting to puzzle out.

The Blood of Arlathan was just sooooo good. Fantastic writing, design, .... all of it. I've finished the game multiple times and that's still one of my favorite missions.

Ooooh nice!!’ How many times have you finished the game? 😁😁😁. I’m actually looking forward to Blood of Arlathan again for my other two runs. Would love to see what else I missed. It really is an amazingly brilliant mission 😭😭

love this video (and all your other ones)! I think you're spot on and even the Elvhen words in-game back you up :) Solas is pride, emma solas means arrogance, but more literally it's inner pride/pride within

One of my favorite parts of the game was how Elgar'nan was super careful about Solas. He respected his capabilities, even if he thought Solas was an annoyance he viewed beneath him. The argument the two had is one of my favorite parts of the game. They really did fight like siblings. Both knew how to say things that really hurt the other. I know you haven't finished the game, so I will just say that there is more to come in the final act about the parallels between Solas and Elgar'nan that I found fascinating.

The number of times I stopped fighting and almost died in Blood of Arlathan to listen to these queens roast each other was incalculable. I audibly wheezed in laughter when Solas insulted Elgar'nan's elvish. XD

He was like “brah. You’ve been out of the game for too long old man. That’s why I’m speaking to you in the people’s tongue”. I HOLLERED! The fucking disrespect!!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

I haven't played the game myself, my PC cannot run it, but I have watched the entire story on youtube. I found the conversation between those two fascinating and it's great to see someone doing an analysis on this, I've heard them being compared in a podcast I listen to (Split the Veil) and I definitely agree with the fact those two have some similarities. It's gonna be interesting seeing people discuss what those are in the coming years. Great analysis! Definitely like the idea that Solas sees in Elgar'nan a dark mirror to his own person.

Yay!! Glad you enjoyed the analysis. Looking forward to when you get to play the game for yourself and enjoy the experience personally. It’s soo cool. And thank you so much for putting me onto a new podcast. Will def check them out ☺️

Where'd you get ego from? That's not what he was a spirit of or what he was supposed to twist into
@ChroniclesofNoria5 сағат бұрын
It’s an analysis of his behaviour and how he contrasts Solas as Pride. We never get the full understanding of what type of spirit he was meant to be. It’s all conjecture and I point that out in the video itself. All we can assume and guess at is that he was a spirit of power, connected to him becoming a symbol of tyranny, and I interpreted it as it possibly being the conceit that can be found in power so overwhelming that it devastates anything that stands in its way and in opposition to it. That’s what can morph its way into ego. When you think that you are better, more powerful than anything else, and there’s nothing to temper that arrogance and conceit. I go into further detail in the video, and also expressed at the start that this is my own personal interpretation. Yours can be different and I would love to hear what kind of spirit you think he was and what he then morphed/twisted into
