HDMI cables are weird, its good you brought that up. i have had a lot of weird experiences over the years buying cables and some devices not liking them - my brother recommended amazon basics, and even though the name doesnt really sound great, they work well with everything I have tried

I’ve been using the 4K X for about a year now, quick tip if your trying to capture in HDR go to the 4K Capture Utility app and hold down CTRL as you click on the settings cog and it will unlock extra check box option!

Do you notice any frame drops when capturing at high resolutions? What’s your experience? my cheap ass capture card has some issues with games at times and I dont understand why. maybe time to upgrade the cpu

I game and work mostly on the ultrawide. The 4k monitor above is used for capturing stuff in 16:9 and as a secondary display. Capturing in the correct aspect ratio and resolution makes it much easier when it comes to editing videos Mat

They make good bits of kit for streamers and youtubers, but they are very expensive. Corsair own them and scuff right? and they just bought that race sim group too I think.

Good question its either capturing the image after creating it via the signal or its grabbing the HDMI stream directly.

Yeah good bit of kit used it for 6 months, its one of their better packages, previous versions were a bit buggy and unreliable for me. this one has worked flawlessly

The lack of artefacts also comes down to the type of encoding but yeah if its clear then it means the Elgato has grabbed the stream nicely.

Elgatos software used to be crap, its a lot better now, but OBS works just as well for me, just does not look quite so nice. I like iCUE too however and I know a lot of my buddies hate it

cheap capture cards are crap, I know this is expensive, but £220 isnt bad for what you get, just need to use the cable they give you or get a really good Amazon basics HDMI cable (dont waste money on expensive HDMI cables, they are a CON, trust ME !)
