So happy that I found this video because that's exactly how I plan to use mine in terms of positioning once I buy one. Thank you for this review!

I believe the mic cable can drop out the bottom of the lower arm for better cable management.

it can.

Nice video and this isn’t meant as a critique but I have a Rode PSA mounted the same way you do, in the front of my desk. The PSA arm and mic do not obstruct my view at all. The benefit of the traditional style arm in that position is that it frees up all that real estate on your desk that the LP arm takes up. For example, if you want to place items on your desk where the arm hangs over. If it works for you, great! But that is the reason why I couldn’t use the LP for my needs. Thanks!

I just got this arm and I also have the shure sm7b. I cant for the life of me get it to the point in which it doesnt fall down from a slight push. I can get it to stay in place, but if I adjust it even a little it bit it goes down. I got it tight everywhere, I might have even broken something but it's still the same result.

Black masking or electrical tape, double sided tape, black Velcro straps can all fix the weak magnet issue.

I just got mine and it seems they took some feedback seriously because it's a little different than yours..The middle joint now has an adjustable knob so u can move it up and down easier and also the cable channel closest to the table is on the underside now

So have this mic arm as well, at the start to where the mounting point is, there is a hole underneath you can route through instead, take another look. Curious to what you havent put it under your monitor though, its such a space saver.

I don't get why people complain about hex or allen keys. The reason they use them is to make it harder to strip.

Awesome video man! In regards to the problem with the Blue Compas Boom Arm that you mentioned; the arm uses a tube style mechanism internally which has to be adjusted via a screw located on the bottom inside of the arm. This is the true adjustment used to hold your microphone in place determined by the weight of the microphone. I do admit, it does take a while to get the adjustment right, but once adjusted; you won't have any issues.

Isn't there a hole underneath the arm for the XLR cable to come out of? I Saw in another review that this was possible rather than having the cable come over the top of the base.

Great video. Can it be desk mounted similar to the PSA-1? I have desk mounts for all my current mics, but I have been looking for a low profile arm that wouldn't break my bank. Thanks.
@MyouKyuubi3 жыл бұрын
You mean screw a mount into the table itself? No, it doesn't come with a permanent desk mount, i don't think any elgato products do, but, if i'm wrong, you're gonna have to order it separately... Or make your own.
@IamnOtmrcole3 жыл бұрын
@@MyouKyuubi I have the mounts for 4 in the desk and using Rose Psa-1’s. Just wanted to see if they would work.
@MyouKyuubi3 жыл бұрын
@@IamnOtmrcole Just pay attention to the holes of the actual elgato products in question, they have this plastic fitting or whatever it's called, because the metals of the arm aren't supposed to grind against bare metal. Keep that in mind, and you can easily just make your own mounts, take measurements, make holes, put plastic fitting, ????, profit.

@BudsCartoon3 жыл бұрын
I probably over researched before buying one. This is the one I ended up getting. The problem with the cable covers popping off can be fixed by taping your cable to the inside. Or even a USB mic probably wouldn’t pop it off as much. Every other stand had too many issues. The Rode is obviously the second choice. The 1 is kinda outdated and just looks like a $14 Amazon one. The 1+ has the damn giant logo. The frameworks has that awful desk clamp. The Blue and every other exact version of it is crap. The sell it under about 20 different names. I may have considered the Elgato non LP version but it was either sold out or around $190 from overseas or used. But I think I may actually like the LP more after watching more reviews since.

For the tightening screw with the allen key... Remove the bolt and measure it for size then buy a new bolt that fits in with a butterfly thingy on the end then you can tighten/loosen it on the fly using your fingers instead of having a separate key to do so. It's a $5 max cost to mod but makes all the difference (Yes, Elgato should have thought of this any maybe they'll change it but still).
