Elgin sweeper main broom replacement

In this video I replace the main barrel broom on a Elgin pelican sweeper.
I attribute my successes to god and give him the glory.

Lol tip. I replace these myself at my workplace. When putting the axle shaft back in. I little WD-40 around the rubber or into the tube. The shaft goes in like butter.

It's interesting to see the wide range of equipment you work on. I see stuff like that all the time but it never really occurs to me that someone has to know how to maintain all that stuff! What do you do with the old brushes? I'll bet cattle farmers would like to have them as scratching posts for the cows. Thanks for the video!

I’ve heard someone with pigs say they use one for them. It will either go to the transfer station or we also use it for sweeping lawns with the back hoe. They will grab it with the backhoe and sweep dirt and such off lawns.

I remember those. Now i just remove the flange and slide out the individual brooms and slide in a new one. All 18

that is because you have a strip mainbroom not a full wrap

Using the water suppression is essential to keep the dust down and lubricate the brooms.

Exactly the silica in the sand it pretty harmful.

When installing the main broom use the in cab controls to raise or lower the side arm it to line it up and wont need a ratchet strap to lift it

I could get help if I asked but I don’t want to get out of practice doing it myself. I just swapped a dump body for a service body on a truck we got. A loader a lift and some ratchet straps got it done.

😄 I’m pretty good at the sound effects. I used to sing a song along with the music while patching pot holes and then spend a half hour trying to convince my helper how I sounded exactly like the singer.
