A big thumbs up for using a test pistol that people would actually be carrying (LCP) unlike other channels who are cheating by using RED DOTS on full sized pistols to make themselves look good. I think you did great with the LCP. One tip for open sighted pistols- I was an expert shooter in the military. Under stress, your shots will drop low due to jerking the trigger, etc. A way to overcome this is to "Ladder up" your shots to keep them all center mass. Try it and you will see an improvement on where your shots land at that distance. Regards, John

A lot of people carry full size guns with dots.....I carry a G17 or G45 both with dots at least 3 days of the week.

Many people have done this drill without proper re-enacting the actual circumstances, most people could do this in their sleep. The differences in what everyone is doing and what actually happen is ridiculous. Grandstanders

Good shooting, particularly with the Ruger Mouse Gun. I carry and shoot a P365X (among others). While the great aftermarket frames make them much easier to shoot, they sort of defeat the entire purpose IMO. After adding WML and larger gripped frames, their effectively G19 size guns.

I keep seeing this drill being posted with people shooting at a static target. There's no way that Eli engaged the active shooter, qnd the active shooter just stood there and soaked up all eight rounds. I'd be willing to bet the first round or two knock the AS to the ground, then subsequent rounds were fired into his body. Eli also braced his pistol on a column to fire the shots. A better representation of this drill would be to brace on one of those trees, fire two rounds at a standing target, then fire the rest of the rounds at a silhouette idpa target cut in half lying on the ground.

I did a vid also mainly to see how I would do at 50 yards. None of these drills will do what Eli did justice. We have learned that training at distance is necessary.

Exactly He identified the target at approx 40yds, then advanced to engage the target. Still, a hero regardless. He took down that scumbag before it escalated!

So, hit the target with the LCP max, but not great. Then the other 3 larger pistols were all better but all about the same. Interesting.

Everyone has heard of Elish Dicken by now, the young man who stopped a shooting in the mall. I think the guy is a hero. But I’m a little turned off by both crowds on social media who are capitalizing on this by either attacking the guy or trying to capitalize on his feat. The left of course are just morons who think the shooter should have been moved into compliance. On the other end of the spectrum are the KZbin talking heads who are all doing what they are calling “The Dicken Drill”, where they shoot from 40 yards with their duty size pistols in order to prove that they too could do the same from 40 yds. Great, you can do it on a shooting range. But even exercising before you run any drill does not even come close to simulating the real thing. On a range you are not getting shot at. No one is dying. You are not in a hurry. You are not worried about bystanders or whether you your self will be charged with some sort of goofy crime. And likely the guy was shooting a smaller conceal carry gun rather than the 1911 or duty size Glock etc that are a little more accurate. Life doesn’t happen on a square shooting range under perfect conditions and paper doesn’t shoot back. You can train all you want, and training is key. But just target practice(although essential) is not training. And because you think your a pro on the range, doesn’t mean a fight will go in your favor in real life. A shooting is a fight. And the guy that wins is the guy who goes home. I hate to see people armchair quarter back and then try to compete with a young man who did an excellent job. It’s just s little much. And the people who do this and think they are proving something have never been in a gun fight. This isn’t a drill. It’s just target practice from 40 yds. And the people that are making up “drills” based on this weren’t even there.

Agree, however very few people carry or train for an active shooter scenario and few people have access to a dynamic range. At best they're equipped and qualified for a FBI stat 3-3-3 defensive scenario.
