because republicans block any effort to fund schools federally. right now most of schools funding comes from property taxes, which means rich people get better schools. if you truly want those things for public school kids, the money has to come from somewhere. hopefully you would support taxing the 1% where 90% of the wealth lies, at a rate higher than the one that has that 90% of wealth only supporting 35% of the federal budget.

My first boss was a black guy trying to get a union job, but he was bad in math which was my best subject so every night I worked with him he would take my place in the kitchen as I did his homework and then explained it to him. As someone who has experienced being abused etc in my own life, I can still see my life any way I want. It's not that people think they are "oppressed". It's just that the needle hasn't moved that much since the 1960s. You act like the 1960s was so long ago. It wasn't. Plenty of those people are still very much alive and can talk about the racism they experienced. You know the part you left out...some of those same racists continue to teach their children and grandchildren the same thoughts. That didn't end. Many businesses just found loopholes to get around not hiring minorities. That didn't end in the 1960s. That still exists today. We have a long way to go. Things have progressed some...but not as much as you would think since it's been 60 years. I"m don't think I"m oppressed...I don't live my life as a victim. Yet, I've still dealt with plenty of racism in my 41 years. I didn't let it define me or make me angry...but it did make me realize we still have a long way to go. I've worked in HR at several companies and that's where you really see it.

God bless you both! I have taught for 21 years, mostly in inner city Cincinnati. I am supposedly in the top 15% of all Social Studies teachers ever in the US. I live in the country, and am a white man with a shaved head. I have been the victim of racism and no rural teacher here can imagine the troubles that inner city children often face. I have given my lunch away to children before, because they had nothing to eat. This has nothing to do with skin color. This is us, as a society, not supporting our children. We have to do better than this.

I am currently defending the younger BLACK generation for the Daughters of the Confederacy and their teachings. I am setting up a program that teaches Black parents how to teach CRT in their homes. And, will be pushing majority Black schools to integrate it into its curriculum.

Mrs. Kokoszka really elaborates on everything that I’ve been trying to explain to the school board and the teachers in my district. I’m so frustrated with trying to raise my children knowing there are consequences for their actions, like failing if you don’t do the homework but, it goes in one ear and out the other because it only took a few months for them to see that the teachers WILL NOT FAIL THEM! It’s crazy. They extend deadlines excessively, knock out incomplete assignments to raise the average, etc. Anything they can do to pass the kid and it’s sad because the ONLY people that hurts, are the kids. I’ve had to get into the habit of saying, “I don’t care if your teacher said you didn’t have to do it! If the other kids did it then you need to do it, you are no more or less special than them.” If the teachers won’t make sure to hold them accountable in school, then I had to hold them accountable in other ways. It’s much more difficult though because then they think your just “being mean” rather than pushing them to succeed. Thankfully, after a year or two they understand why I did/do that.

CRT is only taught at the highest levels of scholarship such as graduate Law. It is not taught to children or in the public school system. So much ignorance in these comments.
