In terms of the comments, this is actually why I stopped reading the manga for a while. Once the college arc happen, it seemed like it focused entirely on too many new characters and treating them like they’re the main characters and never on Chise and Elias, the two characters who were supposed to be the main characters and protagonists. I just kind of feel like Elias was somewhat pushed to the side. Chise and Elias don’t even need to be working on their relationship, I just want to see little slices of life from them here and there instead of Elias seeming to be missing from the scenario the majority of the time

Yeah. For me s1 focuses more on chise's development from being free and conquering her inner demons with her mom. Thought s2 was supposed to be elias's arc. To me the conflict between them in s1 was resolved way too fast. Like girl literally punched him and left him. I think they could've showed elias's perspective more after that conflict, how he felt etc. Cuz yeah what he did was f up but chise is also just as selfish so i think the author could've expanded that situation even more. Not to mention that witch lady didn't even reveal what she said to elias to chise.

I started watching S2 recently and got so annoyed with how much unwanted filler there was that I eventually just skipped through episodes just to get to the main plot (Chise and Elise). I don't care about these characters that aren't going to really give anything to the main characters stories. This Anime has potential but even S1 was poorly written in my opinion it made watching it a nightmare at times with how boring the plot got.

I finally managed to catch up to the entirety of season 2. Although some people might be disappointed that Chise and Elias aren't on screen together that much compared to the first season I believe that a healthy relationship needs to have space for other people in their lives. Chise making new connections at school and resolving issues with minimal help from Elias shows how much shes growing. Elias also considering the making friends with staff of the school also shows that he is maturing from just orbiting on Chise.

In Season 2 episode 6 Elias asked if he could continue playing the role of her husband and she just said I am your master. From what I remember reading the author got tired of so much flack she was getting for the age gap so they said fine they will split up.

@fafulin5954 yeah probably. And i do feel the story is slowly being somewhat less interesting. Introduction of too many new characters yet the focus is still mainly on chise eventhough she already got many character development in s1. Was hoping it'll be more focused on elias tbh. And i do feel s1 finale kinda lacking? Felt like the conflict between them end too easily by simple apologies (mainly elias apoligizing). Personally i think it could be extended more to elevate the dynamic between the two cuz no hate to chisei, but she really got personal with elias with the stella issue (especially in manga). Questioned him for being a child despite his age and acting like a monster when she already learned from lindel about elias and how in fact he IS a child and IS a monster. Not to mention punching him and leaving him behind. Could've made their reconciliation more dramatic and meaningful. In all honesty i think the series already fell off too much add that with the slow uploads. Just watch s1 and take it as the ending I'll say.

I agree with some people here, season 2 was lacking the Chise and Elias moments that season 1 was full of. Elias almost were a side character there. I hope season 3 will be more domestic, like s1

The comments made me so happy to hear I'm not the only one who thought of this. So much build up to their closure from season 1 are neglected for season 2, and I was hoping to see Chise and Elias grow more closer and deeper. I get that the second season is all about the world building and how the people, the college will benefit Chise's curses and hopefully expand the longevity of her lifespan. But they completely neglect Chise and Elias' relationship. Every episode made me feel like I'm watching a completely different anime, I forgot that this is ANCIENT MAGUS BRIDE, not just because of the two leading characters, but the charm and magical essence from season 1 is nowhere to be found in this season.

Honestly, my favorite part of the whole season. This anime is soooo good when it's about Elias and Chise's relationship, but this season spent too little time on them and instead focused on that magic school and spider siblings, and it was boring af...

I'll be honest I feel season 2 Was lacking a bit compare to season 1. Season 1: A full focus on a young lady and I forgot what Elias is learning about each other and Chise slowly regaining her will to live while keeping a mystery on why her father suddenly just left her and her mother. A young girl driven to near suicide and no hope sells herself as a slave Season 2: I feel like that tried to cram too many characters with major problems. - Lucy deals with family lost and trauma and has a vendetta - That one depress girl deals with a Perfectionist Granny - Hoodie dude is Hoodie dude, He cool but he is hella out of place in my opinion - Snake boy is my personal favorite character and becomes a "God" - Blond hair guy that wants to help depress girl goes on a huge rant on how she should stand for herself but then is completely tossed aside from the climax - Talking Cats - I like the Granny as a Villian. Very easily hateable - Werewolves. Them pretty cool i guess Overal season 2 feels like they're shoving so much in at once that Chise and Elias have a tough time shinning and actual helping the other characters out. Sucks to say but the chibi moments ruin many parts of the anime. You get a serious undertake and risk but then boom Chibi cute moment dispite the fact their lives are endanger right now. Overall: Probably needed extra episodes to flesh out more of the characters

Solo dire que la segunda temporada le falto aquella escencia de la primera, ademas de que el titulo es: LA NOVIA DEL MAGO ANTOGUO, no las aventiras en la universidad mágica. Aunque al menos en esta 2 temporada se abren nuevos caminos y desarrollos para los dos PROTAGONISTAS: Chise y Elias. Solo ruego a que no dejen de lado al pobre elias y chise como personajes secundarios y los otros jovenes sean los principales temas, ademas de que no se entrometan o interrumpan momentos con ellos dos (Me enmpute cuando la amiga pelirroja de chise se hacerco para hablar con Chise, y en ese momento CHISE ESTABA TENIENDO UN MOMENTO CON ELIAS SOBRE QUE COSINAR CON LA CALABAZA!!! aaaaaahh!!!) Y quiero volver a ver a selkie y ruth❤

Ill have to side with the majority on this side of the panel. I was really pysched when i started reading the manga but when i had eventually started getting into s2 it felt so rushed and chaotic. I mean all of a sudden things started gettinf serious so fast and (im bad with names) it started getting hard to keep up with the events taking place bcs i kept forgetting who was who. I still persisted on for some time hoping to get some action from elias and chise, and the very few subtle moments they had together had me gripping my chair😭 soon after i gave up and just decided to wait for the animes 2nd season to release so i neednt go throigh the hassle. Not planning on dropping but it is rather a shame..😅

I think s2 might've bumped it down a rank, library wars taking its place😢 I feel like I'm being hasty so I'll reread as long as I can and see if this rly is the best decision (GNNN ignore the fact that I'm treating this so seriously despite how I don't even watch anime annymooree😭😭)
