Another well crafted American symphony that should not be neglected. Thanks again for your postings of these amazing compositions.

Elie, who was such a talented, inspired composer, is so sadly neglected today.

Agree with above description. Great lively music --in the tradition of Copland, Harris, Persichetti, Gould, Cordero, Sierra, and others. Also author of a nice book, Harmony and Melody.

The piano use in the final movement was an unexpected surprise. Why must EVERYTHING American "pale in comparison" to Copland?

Because we no longer have the discernment to differentiate between like and unlike. It's a function of the age in which we live. Like the language we no longer have the skill to use in a focused manner. We speak in hammer blows. We are incapable of the fine touch of Twain or Salinger.

@@nick.caffrey Sorry Nick, not sure I can agree with that. There is so much American music available to listen to online these days that the old standards are falling. Composers like Siegmiester, Antheil, Converse, Gianinni, Foote, to name only a few are just a finger click away from your ears ..and free to hear. Perhaps we won't have access to all in live performance, though today you might be more likely to hear Ives, Barber, or Diamond than Copland at your local concert venue. Chin up friend!

@@andrewpetersen5272 Thank you Andrew, for your reply! I shall explore the names you so kindly mentioned. (With my chin firmly up.) 😊 Barber I knew of, but the others are unfamiliar. I will work on lessening my ignorance...
