I recently picked one up. Initially, it reminded me of KC12 with more pepper. There’s a lot going on when that heat hits. Several flavors linger and go in and out. 3:47 I've learned not to review something until the third glass at least. It's not so much that the "neck pour" is misleading, but rather that even with whiskies that don't change much if at all after opening, I just can't properly understand a whisky on the first or second glass. But with those that do change, the third glass seems to be when the juice settles down.

Found this and the most Larceny BP last night and the EC actually rang up below MSRP at around $65 which I was pretty stoked about. I would have been happy with it either way though, I think even at normal price it's a good bourbon. For whatever reason it does not taste as peppery to me as most reviewers seem to believe, I get that very strong and pleasant sweet nuttiness that I associate with heaven hill. Not really that hung up on the age/proof personally, I'm pretty firmly in the "it's ready when it's ready" camp and it doesn't taste like it was rushed or bottled too early to me. Plenty rich and oaky without hitting over oaked territory, I think it's right about in the sweet spot. I actually like the slightly lower proof too, but to my palate anything over around 120 tends to drink too hot without adding some water and I know that's not the case for everyone.

I have a feeling we are going to look back at some point at these batches and say damn remember when these were 10-12 yrs old.
