I once saw him in a serious interview where he talked about his technique... For example: when a guest is not delivering entertaining answers or just seems uninteresting because let's face it, not every celebrity is gonna be an interesting person, he knows when to shift the conversation or how to redirect the spotlight to keep the audience engaged. It's no secret that Conan's a real professional and genius at being a host.

I noticed that after watching a few of his interviews. When someone like a Jim Carrey or Robin Williams came on the show, he would take a backseat and let them take over, but when it is some nervous celebrity not comfortable in the situation, he breaks loose. Best of all, he doesn't seem like he has to compete with other comedians that come on the show. He is very secure in that manner!

LittleFilms He's not awkward, he's Andy. He's been there since the beginning. Pretty much since Carson, and maybe back, there have been sidekicks to lend the host assistance. Andy doesn't talk much but makes witty observations. Maybe it's awkward for you because you're not used to it. I just think of it like 2 guys hanging out with a friend who dropped by.
