This game could be changed slightly to make it more positive. It could be changed so that hitting the button means "stay" and that unless both of them hit "stay" within 60 seconds, then one of them, at random, has to go. If both hit "stay" in the first minute, then they have one more minute to both hit "stay", and if so, then they win. If both don't hit "stay" the second time, then one of them, at random, has to leave. This would have a two-pronged effect. First, it would create an incentive to find out about the other person. Second, it would get rid of the small reward that the person doing the rejecting gets, by being guaranteed to continue playing and avoiding being rejected themselves. That said, it's entertaining to watch someone get brutally rejected. It's just not very nice.
