These kind of tips are gold! Thank you, i didn´t even know the Pro MB can sidechain like that. It creates not only more separation between the bands, it also creates some depth in the low freqencies. I just tried it on my mix bus in a pop song and the low end sounded less flat. Cool tips, man.
@Draks1507
@Draks1507 Жыл бұрын
you can also apply this "internal sidechain expender" around 2.5K, also triggered by the subs - for electronic music with big sidechains going on, you can open up the high mids by 1dB everytime the kick hits, it gives a really nice subtile mouvement and more clarity in the mid.

Will try it out on my EDM. I always shy with bass not to overpower the lows, and tend to feel all my songs lacks that extra bit of low-end because I don’t have a mastering engineer to finesse my songs. I always go by ear on how it sounds on different size speakers, car, mobile devices, bit still I can’t get it to sound “unbelievable”

You definitely can and while having a little more feedback because its using milliseconds and not percentage for attack and release timings. Also the dynamic phase mode for Pro MB is literally a dynamic eq.

Great video! One thing i've never got my head around is the attack and release for compressors. at 3:08 you put the expansion with a slow attack and fast release. What's the reasoning behind a slow attack? Do you not want to engage the compression (or expansion) as soon as possible?
@iqi616
@iqi616 Жыл бұрын
Remember that it's a sidechain so being an expander it will give a bit of a "sidechain" effect where the expansion lifts the low mids after the attack of the low end has passed.

Also. Another great move is to use (low end focus - Izotope) Amazing plugin when trying to pull out a kick from a muddy bass. Works the oppersite way too. When ur kick is just too proud in the mix and the bass is not loud enough... low end focus will bring up the bass/sub without affecting the kick Nice correction tool

most mudines happened between low and mid low, so maybe better idea is to triggered low mid to low's. So when deep low happens, then low mid for short period of time are little quiet, thats gives the separation and clearer bass
