Where the clutter is covered with the black satin and has cushions on it, you could put a sort of work bench over the boxes etc, so it's more contained, put the black material back over it and the cushions, and then it could also be used as a seat or another surface area as a coffee table or sideboard :)

I've used the zip lock trick for years with sewing and jewelry projects as well as travel. Just put all the pieces associated with each project and label what it is and maybe a brief description of the direction you want the project to go. All sizes of zip lock bags work like space bags and if need the medium space bags from dollar tree are your best bet for larger projects that need to be slimmed down. From experience the larger space bags from dollar tree tend to die really quick so stay away from them. This also works with storing fluffy things like petticoats, ballgowns and a large pvc ruffle I made lol. Hope that helps ^.^

So well said!!! Clearing out/cleaning up is the *most* important step in redecorating! It's like the diving board into the pool of creativity!

I use ziplock bags for my knitting needles and crochet hooks ordered by size. An extra thing I did is stabilised the bottom of the bag with duck tape, punched some holes in it, and store them in a ring binder, stored smallest to largest. When i need some needles or a hook I can just get the binder off the shelf and flick to the number i need and get it out the ziplock! plus it's really compact and discrete because it just looks like a regular book on the bookcase

Very good tips! I like the way you spray painted the inexpensive plastic storage drawers. If you go to yard sales and thrift shops you might want to buy items that you can embellish the drawers in a steam punk fashion.

SO incredibly great to see you and this show come back again! We all missed you so much! Great tips on de-cluttering your home, too! Our business is Halloween, my husband, Spooky, and I got married on Halloween 34 years ago this year and believe me, we have clutter! We have 4 cargo containers on our 2.2 acres of land and a 3 bedroom home and we still have clutter. Some of our larger Halloween props are set up inside all year long ( we are life long Goths, too). One of the 40ft. long containers is nothing but Halloween merch, everything from lights, tableware, masks, costumes, big props, little props, etc. That's the one that really needs to be sorted out! Just goes to show, you can live in a small New York apartment or a house and land in Nevada and either way, you still have clutter. Great video and so glad to see you back with this show again!

#1 Rule to keeping a house clean and clutter free: Don't make it dirty or cluttered. I know, I know, that sounds stupid, but trust me, it works. Instead of setting stuff down, put it away immediately. Instead of setting aside trash, just get up and throw it away. If you know that you're going to be buying something, make room for it beforehand. If you need to, get rid of stuff, because if you don't, you're just going to move stuff aside until it starts piling up. If you just tell yourself "I'll just do it later" you're just going to get lazy, and not do it later, and clutter is born. It amazes me how many people I have come over, and then ask me how I keep my house so clean. It may sound pedantic, but it really is just as simple as putting shit away, throwing shit away, and getting rid of shit that's in the way/never used.

I think if you got a chest that you could sit on (I don't know what they're called exactly) for the small boxes at the end of your video, then you could put the throw pillows on top of them. That way, guests would be more comfortable when they sit in that area.

I use ziplock bags for my random wires too. It also helps to test the chargers before putting them in the bags and actually tossing the ones that don't work into the trash. I was looking for a charger the other day and over half the chargers I had saved were dead.

I have forever struggled with clutter as the child of two hoarders. I’ve gotten much better at it but my unsold art, art supplies and clothing are areas where I struggle the most. It makes me feel better to see someone famous have similar issues. Yikes on the cost of the storage space, that cost more than my last apartment. But I imagine an apartment in NYC is over $1,000 per month. I wish I could afford to live and paint there, but that’s just not in the stars.
