Elin - Allies (symbiosis, hosting, riding, game settings, QOL Mods)

Not sure if anyone mentioned it, but before you use the scroll of ally, just click to title so it saves your game, then continue and use the scroll. If it's not what you want just alt F4 so it doesn't save over. Repeat till you get what you want, just make sure to alt f4 and not click to go back to title or do anything that would save the game. Not sure if it works on oath of eternity or if it handles saving differently, but it works on oath of destiny.

@@techmedicexe Ah I know that, I just meant it's possible to do this if you're playing with a devotion by just ALT+F4ing out. I think you said you weren't sure on how it would work with devotions in the video, but it still works, just requires annoyingly closing/reopening the game :D

Every time I try to use ride or symbiosis it just says “there is nothing to target”

You have to learn the skill (if you did) then you can target a friendly NPC of yours by right click on spell then on npc. OR you may have to level your symbiosis (all characters can be hosted or ridin)

So.. I want to ask a very obvious question since well I am not that good in the game. How to cancel the symbiosis? I mean how to do the symbiosis and then cancel it so that I can symbiosis with other NPC/party member? I cant find a button or smth. With riding, clicking the NPC being ridden on will cancel the riding but with symbiosis I have no clue how to do cancel symbiosis.

You have to use the skill again on yourself :D

Great video m8 🙂Really nice guide. Two questions. how you made the second horizontal bar at the middle. its an inventory or something? Everything out there is great to have, the game is huge and hopefully more people will join Elin. Small tip outside Elin, If you have the time take a look at the canvas as well, will help you for easy editing and notification and such. Its free tool ;-) I am doing streams as well, so I know the struggle.

Yes when you ride them they can do all manner of combat except chase cause your riding them. Cast magic, ranged combat, Melee close combat is do able. Its really fun and if they go unconcious you just heal and they heal too.

Do you know how stat gain and/ penalties calculations from host and rides? I only know that certain type of allies like horses and such give less speed penalties for ride but i don't know how high the level of your riding ability have to be to mitigate it. I started using host since my character move way faster than my allies but i don't like the speed penalties from riding so rn i'm refraining to use ride

Depends on if the target host/mounted is equal or below. Like if I rode the new healer in the video she would give a slight decrease in speed -8 other then that they do comperable damage as to not being hosted/mounted. Just my observations.

@@techmedicexe i see, mine drop from 176 speed to around 106 - 120 speed when riding that's why i hesitate to do. so target speed matters when riding... thanks! now i know i either need to find anyone with closer speed to ride or just stick with symbiote/host until then

⁠@@rjuly4373 if your speed is already that high riding won’t do much in terms of making you faster. The penalty also seems pretty bad because you need to level the Riding skill (can be bought from tinkerers camp trainer) and the target you’re riding also needs to have a high strength stat as they’ll be carrying you. I personally use a carbuncle as they’ll can heal/rez and their starting speed is 160, at first it’ll be slower than even base starting speed with riding lvl 1 and the carbuncles low strength stat but I’ve boosted both and I’m at 166 now (carbuncle at 176 speed through gear)

@@ozylocz4078 thank you for the info, glad to know about carbuncle, i'll definitely try it when I make new character as it sounds really good. Right now I've completely given up on riding since both mutation and ether disease keep giving me more speed it makes the speed penalty worse and worse

You can use the vanity table (mirror table) to change appearance of your char. And you can use the redsident board to edit the each ally PCC to your liking.
