My thoughts on EL: Here is what we can be pretty sure about: -She was currently experiencing a manic episode with psychotic features. The psychosis would explain her erratic behavior and the sense we have that she is responding to internal stimuli. The mania would manifest in a sort of silliness, belief that she was invincible and that rules don’t apply to her. These people can also feel hypersexual during manic episodes and become obsessed with a new potential romantic parter quickly. -We also know that when seen trying to access the elevator she does not have her glasses and needs to get very close to the floor buttons. Vision is an issue here. -She apparently is incapable of using an elevator properly, as she presses all of the buttons. Suggests that her ability to reason and command her environment are low at this point. -We are expected to believe that she went up the normal way to the roof and read the sign that said the alarm would go off (without her glasses, and also distracted by the tricks her mind was playing on her) and turned around to find another way up there? She’s manic, she’s very distractible and would have difficulty navigating such a project. Not to mention, as I mentioned, manic folks often feel rules don’t apply to them. It’s much more likely that she would just go through the door. So imagine what EL might have been feeling as her mania crept up on her the previous few days. She’s manic and psychotic, she’s alone. A primary drive for her is to connectedly deeply with another person. Someone, maybe who works at the hotel, noticed her vulnerability. They may even start a sexual relationship, now that she has her own private room. When she enters the elevator she has a playful manner about her, like she was playing hide and seek. As though she ran away from her new person, as a joke, like a child wood. Like “come and get me!” She held the door open to wait for him to come after her. When he doesn’t appear she checks out the hallway to see if he’s coming. Maybe there are 2 of them since she speaks to someone on the right but leaves with someone on the left. It seems to me that murder and a cover up were most likely. Or it could be ghosts.

That specific hotel has been historic for many years and it's embedded not only in the bricks but the ground property itself also....doesn't matter if it's torn down or bought out by another company....whatever is there is there and has been for a very long long time. ..or is it all just in her head? Her family said "mental illness" and just the cover of the footage with lack of full story suggests the same thing but there's HISTORY to that hotel and hers isn't the only death story....there's songs and movies about it also. ...goes wayyyyy back. Does anyone know about her family's background/history? Where is she from exactly and does it have anything to do with "curses" if you believe in that kind of stuff? There's so much "untold's"...it seems unreal sometimes.

The elevator video was heavily doctored in order to sell this narrative that she went crazy. Watch the video closely: The "strange gestures" she makes, are a result of video editing. You'll notice short backwards-forwards looping (like some animated memes on Twitter), and at least one instance of frame skipping, which also occurs later when the elevator door closes. This is also why the time code has been obfuscated - to prevent anyone from seeing the time running. It's fairly easy nowadays even back in 2013 for anyone with a computer to cut and paste video from different times into a new sequence, in order to tell a different story than what actually occurred. Conclusion: Obvious hotel staff coverup. And I bet the hotel management/staff had a "mutually beneficial" relationship with some of the police in the LAPD. The LAPD moved to close the case quickly, denying justice for Elisa and her family. If Elisa had been a white American woman with rich parents, the case would have been handled very differently. But the victim here was an Asian Canadian woman. No justice for her. Welcome to America =(

To me Elisa is not acting strange at all. She was just surprised by the elevator was not closing. She tried to push all the buttons perhaps one of them would work. The gesturing of the hands were to activate the elevator sensors. I did that a lot of times. Someone was holding the lift so she uses the staircase and kill her. Period.

I'm sorry but her hand gestures don't indicate in the slightest that she is trying to activate the sensors. First, she is not facing he elevator, and also, her last hand movements seem like she's clutching her hands together and rubbing them, or something else, but nothing about those movements are indicative of her trying the activate the sensors. It seems like she is talking to someone.

You are 100%, absolutely incorrect. She was on four different medications for type 1 bipolar disorder and depression and from toxicology reports she wasn't taking the medication at the dosage she needed. Some of the medications listed had extremely terrible withdrawal side effects. Because of her type 1 bipolar disorder and depression and are not taking the medication she needed she suffered a manic psychotic episode. Her own family even stated that when she would go off her medication she would suffer episodes very similar to this. What your witnessing is a woman in the throes of a severe manic psychotic episode. Period.

How do we know how many days she was physically in the tank before she was found there? The timestamp is obscured so I don't think anyone knows what time she was in the elevator?

@@9planets9ptips I don't think it makes sense. There would have been so many easier places to house from delusions if this was an immediate threat in her mind. The amount of effort it would have taken to get on the roof seems it would have required much more then a comfortable amount of effort. She most likely was never up there and an average person wouldn't know that water tanks were up there. And an average person wouldn't know that there would be an entrance into the water tank on top of it that was unsealed and would have only been visible from the top. So let's say she wanted to kill herself and wanted to jump off of the roof. She would have climbed the stairs to find out the door to the roof had an alarm. Then maybe she wanted to see if the elevator would go up their and was frustrated it didn't so she started pacing and holding her head, like how am I going to do this without anyone seeing me. If she did climb out of the window to the fire escape she could have done it there because they figured out this was the 14th floor but no she decided to climb a really sketchy latter. Maybe a better view before you die? Oh look at these cylinders maybe I can climb up there. Oh look, I can lift the lid off. Oh that looks like a good place to die. And even if she was trying to escape visions or something it just doesn't seems like that would be a place to keep you safe. But it does look like a really good place to hide a body. And the murderer was probably one of the government assisted permanent residents that's been up there a few times. Either that or an employee. I find it strange that the video is tampered with. And there seems to be some personal interest for LA to keep this place open if it's being used to clean up the streets as an affordable housing unit. This effects the amount of money they make in taxes from tourism. And what a poor idea to try to sell to people, to create a hotel for guests out of what has essentially turned into the projects because of poor liberal policies. I swear the whole state is stupid

when she first goes in the door jolts a little as though it was going to close, but is stopped. she is then seen unsure about leaving the elevator I feel she was being followed. there is a point where she looked out to the right and something makes her jump looking to the left( as though someone entered through a stairwell), from there she appears to lean on the left side and talk to someone. this person obviously leads her away. the missing frames could have been her running back into the elevator some time after and the culprit potentially showing their face in the camera only to cut it from the footage. culprit must have the keys to deactivate the elevator, have access to the roof where she was found, and the sevalence footage as well as know where all cameras are facing... that's what I get from the footage.

One of the buttons she pressed was the "door hold" button which (some other people discovered) keeps the doors open for approx 2 minutes. So it doesn't seem like someone else is keeping the door open; that's the how this lift works. She probably didn't know this, which is why she got confused. The rest of the circumstances around her death are suspicious but not the doors staying open

My thought: Mere seconds after she leaves to use the stairs, the elavator closes and opens twice. The person messing with the elevator keys outside of the elevator purposely had the elevator open and close twice, perefctly aware that the security camera is only rolling within the elevator itself, and has the elevator open and shut twice to have the footage confuse and baffle investigators and anyone that views it. Which leads me to believe it was a staff member. The footage was tampered with as well. They know the layout and locations of the cameras and what it actually films. I feel like Elisa goes in and out, really interacting with the person outside messing with the keys. She does the strange hand motions as well, possibly an attempt to somewhat frighten them? She exits the elevator messes with the keys as she enters back into the elevator, in a frustrated attempt to have the doors close. She goes back and forth to look at the person outside. From there she leaves to use the stairs, on the left hand side, because shes too frightened to go right because of that person.. (I believe hotels have flights of stairs on both sides) and then the person plays with the elevator buttons to have it open and shut twice, and the moment it shuts, they know they arent being seen by the camera no longer, and proceeds to walk towards the direction Elisa went down the stairs and from there the tragedy.

Old comment but.. I think the more likely scenario is that someone was outside holding the call button and there is a short bit that shows them following her (that was edited out). I think the door opening and closing agains is the elevator going to each of the floors she pressed trying to get the door to close. Orrrr someone used a maintenance key to lock out the elevator and removed the key once she gave up, this causing it to start working again. I still think part of the video was removed.

This always seems to me like she's high / mentally "off." Not scared. She's playing games with the elevator like a 7 year old would -- including hiding from people who aren't there, dancing (maybe singing...there's no sound and the hotel had a reputation for people blasting loud music. Someone might have been blasting a song she knew. Yes, it's definitely edited on top of that, including a bit cut out when the door closes. My bet was that it was to cover up an employee letting her up on the roof or an employee/friend of an employee (one of the sketchy "residents") doing some other illegal thing while passing in front of the door at that moment. My gut feeling is that she climbed in there herself using the ladder from the roof , couldn't get back out (and no one around to hear her call for help), took off her own clothes as she got more and more tired from trying to tread water with their weight, drowned, and then one of the workers next on the roof, having no idea that she had even gone in there, put the ladder back without checking the tank where it remained until the day they had to check on the tank because the water was funny.

The only thing that doesn't sit with me, is she got all the way up to the 14th floor completely undetected by camera? Surely she got in a lift up there? An if she was wandering round random floors again no CCTV of her on the floors that had it, which leaves us with one sketchy video . Plus police who searched roof if lid was off tank they would have noticed an found her? An I'm sure helicopter sent over top they would have seen lid off

After pushing the buttons many times, she gets out of the elevator and starts talking to somebody counting how many times she had tried and it didn't work (notice that she counts on her fingers) 1:30. When she leaves the elevator starts to work and goes a floor where the doors (in front of the elevator) are red: 2:45.

No drugs, except trace amounts of the ingredients from her three bipolar medications, were found in her system. I used to think something more nefarious was afoot here but years later with more info available, it really just seems like she experienced a bipolar episode of paranoia and tried to “escape” and hide in the water tank from imagined assailants.

The 50 or so seconds that are cut out of the elevator leads me to believe that this is either when the murder or abduction took place, or the killer is seen on frame. Her hand movements look..if you actually put your body in that position and try to do this, it is pretty awkward unless she's imitating something or gesturing and then imitating. Being on the roof isn't too weird. I've been on lots of roofs alone and not alone because I like exploring abandoned buildings whatever whatever. It's a good girl's way to be a little bit naughty. You're not going to get into any legal trouble. I can rationally explain everything but the act of getting into the tank...from an explorer point of view..getting on top, yes. Opening the hatch, yes, but those things were eight feet tall and that isn't something I'd want to hop down into whether I realized there was water or thought it was empty. The fact that she couldn't open the lid makes perfect sense if you think about physics. Can anyone swim with a 30 pound weight? You've only got water to push against.

and if you watch very closely just as her heel leaves the frame there is a glitch of some kind where a pixel or two is still there of black and its like the white pixels were manipulated to fill in with the floor but who ever did it didn't do a very good job. If you have ever seen how Adobe Photoshop works.....you can zoom in and manipulate individual pixels. What I can't figure out is if something was edited out....does it make sense that was the tip of someone's foot being her foot was just in the same spot. If that is some kind of distortion from a recorded over tape...don't see how that could be because distortion doesn't physically move however maybe its possible w digital. Also proof that not only has it been sliced and looped but individual parts have been snipped out and put back in another frame. Not an expert on this but w digital they can do just about anything (LAPD or even the FBI). If she was physically pulled....she didn't seem that scared w a smirk on her face just moments before. Seems they wanted her to act crazy on camera.....then she ended up in that tank because she knew something, probably thought it was a game until she was in that tank fighting for her life then reality hit! They do have other footage and she was carrying a box w 2 men behind her in the lobby on anotheer day. However the police don't think that's important. Obviously she just offered to be hospitable...not important and couldn't possibly have anything to do with this, Its obvious she just didn't take her meds and ended up in a water tank. Case closed!
