Such comparision vids show us how different actors can interpret one role. I think my fav is Mark Seibert - not that aggressive, kind of gentle (if you can call pushing someone to the floor gentle, but u know what I mean 😅) but still powerful at the same time. And his small jumps before "doch ich weiß" are so cute, I can't 😂 Thank u for this Video ❤
@parfumelise62173 жыл бұрын
Mark Seibert is the same in every performance - purely technical, only played emotion. No high notes. Not the best for me. Maté Kamaras is on a high personal risk with his voice and emotion, but the most thrilling one in this role to me. For me the best one.
@Ketnja3 жыл бұрын
@@parfumelise6217 I find myself agreeing with you, but I would also like to add Park Hyo Shin, whilst not as rock-growl bone thrilling as Maté, it's just as thrilling in a slightly less 'unhinged' way, if you get me?

Definitely the type of content I need in my life. Everyone is so good (but Mate is one love). I guess it's that type of role that makes an actor show the best they've got. Wish there were full productions in English and Russian, but oh well ... :( Also, to Deaths that do not do the hip push - shame on you.

God, YES. Another amazing musical. Those Austrians know how to make kickass gothic musicals (Elisabeth, Tanz der Vampire, Dracula, even though the latter was originally American, but they seriously upgraded it) that would make the phantom go and cry in the corner.

@@efBME and it's always Austria that makes the original production. Somehow I never like the latter german takes on the show that much. Funny, as none of the authors is Austrian.

I got tickets to see the Dutch production next year (will go see this in May and October) and I'm exicted. As for seeing other productions, I'd say my favorite Der Tod are done by Uwe Kröger, Máté Kamarás (he's my top favorite), Szabó P. Szilveszter and Leo (from K-Pop group VIXX, although there is no footage of him aside from his concerts).

Idk if it's bc I'm a lesbian but personally máté's is too much for me lol, i understand the attention that the performance brings but it's agressive and i got sick of the constant growling way too quickly, but that's just my opinion and taste
@twicebornwitchlighter76063 жыл бұрын
I'm ace, but same. I can see why people like Máté's portrayal, but the constant growl-singing and his Death being *very* sexually aggressive turned me off his portrayal real quick, to the point I have a difficult time watching the 2005 Vienna production the whole way through. He's good in some places but really needs to chill in others. And I don't know, maybe it's me preferring Pia and Uwe, but I just don't see the chemistry between Maya's Sisi and Máté's Death? Maya!Sisi always seems more *afraid* of Death than anything else?
@anitadikc3 жыл бұрын
@@twicebornwitchlighter7606 omg you worded everything i thought about his portrayal perfectly, i absolutely agree that he's sexually agressive and the way he grabs her and looks at her just doesn't work for me. Uwe is my favorite (performance wise) bc of the perfect balance of dominance and grace yk? And in his production there's way more androgyny which is something that i think is important to Death, in Máté's version it's what it mostly lacks and it should've definitely include a mix of masculine and feminine, plus the relationship feels like some type of Stockholm syndrome tbh. Thank you for agreeing with me, i thought I was being too salty but i guess a lot of the attention comes from the appeal that i don't care about and neither get.
@holdtunder793 жыл бұрын
I agree. I love Máté's voice, so much power and energy. (I saw him in concert and on stage in Hungary, he's fantastic!) But I don't like the way of his Tod in Wien. That's the failure of directing also, not only his. His hungarian Elisabeth performances are much better, than this. But, to be honest, he's overacting almost everytime... =) kzbin.info/www/bejne/nHiXiKNroLaXmtU

@@holdtunder79 Yeah, I also like Máté's voice and portrayal of Death in the Hungarian production, but not in Vienna. His take in the 2005 Wien production is not my thing at all, but I don't really know how to explain it other than he sounds different singing/acting in the Hungarian version vs German.

Also an accidental comparison of how meh Der Tod's costuming has gotten in the German versions over the years. *sigh*
