What a glorious day it will be when we see our beloved family and friends in heaven... soon. This life is so short. This life is a journey... a stepping stone to eternity. Thanks for sharing this video. Although I have not met Elizabeth in person, I would say she deep impact in my life and has mentored me through her books that i've read. Her book, "Shadow of the Almighty" has not only inspired and gave me courage but also gave me strength to push through my calling to go to India as a missionary in 1996. After that i went to East Asia for 12 yrs. Betty earth's loss is heaven's gain. We miss you but we know that you have seen the Lover of your soul whom you've loved and serve all these years.

My wife and I named our daughter Hannah Elizabeth. Hannah, after her paternal grandmother, and Elizabeth after Mrs. Gren. (My wife did not want people to be confused by spelling it with an ‘S’.) Elisabeth had a profound effect on my wife and her Christian development. Likewise, I grew up listening to ‘Gateway to Joy’ and Elisabeth’s calming voice over the airwaves. Later, I would have the opportunity to get to know members of the Saint family, and some who had been fellow missionaries with Elisabeth in Ecuador, which in an odd way made me feel a stronger connection to Elisabeth. Her grace, candor, and absolute abandonment to Christ will be her mark on me, my wife and hopefully, our daughter.

My dear daughter, Brynde' Invited me to HER church, Big Baptist, in downtown Jacksonville, Fla when Miss Elliot had visited their church. I had read one of her books and of course I was so aware of the news of her husband's death..... At the hands of the people they had given their young lives to bring to Jesus. I was sooo sad for them when that happened. I was 20 yrs her junior at the time and still had not learned yet that my life was not my own. What wonderful ladies all these young women were. What a credit to the Lord Jesus and His Kingdom. What a blessing to me that I was privileged to hear her speak at Big Baptist💝......thank you, Brynde' for taking me to see her and learn more about her. YOU are a credit to our heavenly Father who promises to be a Father to the fatherless. And your Mama loves you.🙌🏻💝👑

I have been learning about Elisabeth Elliot and my respect for the way she poured herself into other people's lives has caused me to reflect on my own walk. She certainly was a woman of enormous courage. Be careful with what you ask for though. In order to be molded into a servant of the Most High, one has 2b self sacrificial and endure under great trial. There is a cost that one has to be willing consider... 🌷
@kayazzara1084 жыл бұрын
Her message rings clear, there is unexplainable suffering in the path of those who give their lives back and make the promise and prayer of use me Lord, I will do Your Will, no matter what the cost. I will go where You send me. As I go where He has sent me, thru the refining fire, alive but with scars, I continue to learn how He is with me always and how He is ultimately in control. That I have value because of Him. That the battle is His, and I can rest. So much emphasis in today's Christianity is on happiness, being comfortable in the world and victory in Him being the same thing. All emotions are part of being human. Sadness and crying are not shameful. That idea hurts people that are hurting already. Depression and physical illness are not separate in person's body. Sadness should not be a sin or be thought of as evidence of lack of faith. In many many situations, suffering and sadness is more a part of the journey of true faith and paying the price in your personal and professional life in this present darkness.

I so very much appreciate your having put this on KZbin for us to see. I graduated from the same high school, Hampden DuBose Academy, that Betty did and recall her visits to the school with Valerie, when I was a student. Betty would also make audio tapes to send to the school telling us about her and Valerie's lives among the Aucas. I'll never forget her telling about being given the choicest part of monkey meat, the head. As it was an honor to be served this portion, Betty ate it with aplomb while all the Aucas watched closely. It was rumored at our high school that Betty, on a dare when a student, swallowed a live gold fish from the patio pool. Our Lord, chose His servant well.

Oh dear! I wouldn't have eaten a monkey's head 🙊 for anything in the world! Not only is iit not food according to God's Word (Lev 11) but it is a rather repulsive thought. 😳💭 I watched a show a while back (Meat Ester) where a tribe in a remote island roasted a whole monkey entrails and all. They served their caucasian guest some and he reluctantly ate. It was beyond gross 😝 Our Lord doesn't call us to do such things. That is on us.

Ma Wi When my husband’s younger brother passed, his friend and pastor said, “When his eyes open, he will see his Lord and Savior.” I loved that because the tiny question of a contradiction between the thief on the cross and what Jesus said to him, and other parts of the Bible which speak of the rapture are not easy. What is easy, is not saying anything if you can’t say something nice. Speak the truth in love. It’s one thing to gossip about such an amazing woman as Elisabeth Elliot and think you’re helping; Elisabeth will surely forgive you; but in these comments???
