Im 19!! My birthday is June 21st, 1998.
Hey guys!! My name is Elisabeth Beemer! I am 19 a beauty, fashion, and life style vlogger currently traveling the world in search of wander, music, culture, community, and adventure.
Born and Raised in Manchester, England, I lived there until I was 10 then moved to America for 9 months, then Abuja, Nigeria for 3 years and finally went back to America to finish my remainder of high school (sophomore, junior, and senior year). About 2 months after I graduated high school in 2016, I moved to Sydney, Australia to attend college and I plan to be here for around 2 years before moving on to the next adventure.
I started my youtube channel on May 17th, 2008 because of other You Tubers who inspired me such as Bethany Mota ( macbarbie07 ) , Meredith Foster ( StilaBabe09 ), Eva Gutowski ( MyLifeAsEva ) , Saria Jones ( krazyrayray ), and many many more.
Since the beginning of 2017 I have started taking my videos and social media platforms more seriously then ever before in hopes to someday accomplish a large following and be able to reach my dreams of being a creative entrepreneur and touch people lives in the process. Join me for the journey xox

The Daily Mail article written about this video was done with out my permission and made to put me in very bad light. I absolutely love Australia and my time there was amazing. This video was simply explaining the differences for some people who have never been to the other place (Americans to Australia/Australians to America). Please stop getting so butt hurt about an article that I had no say in and no chance to give my comments on a video I made 2+ years ago. I have feelings and the countless hate comments are absolutely unnecessary.

I find that US waiters are overly friendly in a weird fake way. Having to put on a show of emotional labour to beg for tips is depressing and downright wrong. I much prefer our (Ausrtralia's) system.

Agreed, the onus on tipping just creates impersonal service. No one is genuine, it seems professional, but is the worst service on Earth for the total lack of warmth. Australian's can give very indifferent service, but at least it is genuine and friendly.

As a german, the experience with us waiters is soooo weird. They are so fake and annoy you all the time "everything okay? do you need a refill? can i get something for you?" ... literally almost every damn minute they are annoying and disturb your conversation. Always with that huge fake smile and friendliness. All i thought was "leave me the fck alone, im gonna call you if i need something, no need to ask me 5 times" I think here in germany its considered rude to "disturb" your customers, you basically wait for them to raise their hand/call you if they need something. I have the feeling in the us its the other way around? Like the waitress is considered rude if she doesnt babysit you?

I just wanted to say that I as an Aussie really liked that other video, despite the fact that I didn't agree with everything you said. I think you're being very generous to be so nice to Australia after the crap you copped last video! I wouldn't have blamed you if you had responded with complete hate! Anyway I found it interesting to learn a bit about America this video, so thanks :) & props for "autumn" :)) btw you are in one of the more "beautiful" areas, if you go out to Penrith or somewhere, you'll see a VERY different Australian look to what you're seeing around Bondi! If you haven't already visited the Blue Mountains, I'd highly recommend you do & on your way home, since you're out that way, stop in at Penrith Panthers for dinner & a glimpse of a whole other side of Australian life (no issues with safety there, good people, but less money than you'll find in the Bondi area)

My 2 cents: 1. So with the male toilet things, we have both. I see both just as regally as each other. 2. All waiters/waitresses have been perfectly nice and welcoming to me where ever I go (be it Sydney, Gold Coast, Melbourne, etc). Might just be the places you went? Not sure. 3. Minimum wage is $18.29 an hour ($14.30 USD) Edit: (When looking this up I think I got the full adult minimum. I've also found other sources saying different prices like $16.87 for an adult, but I'm not sure) 4. That refill thing sounds amazing, one thing from America I would defiantly love here. 5. Yeah, season differences. I think I'd prefer Southern Hemisphere seasons to Northern, having christmas when it's hot is nice 6. Yeah quite a few things are shortened (and I know you didn't mention it in this video) but the accents that most people talk/complain about aren't the majority, as far as I know 7. The whole bumping into people can be really annoying too lol. Especially in Chatswood (suburb close to the main city), cause there's a lot of Asians and they're all used to walking on the right side. 8. No comment ;) Btw, I think this video was a lot better than your last one on America and Australia.

Nope, min wage for an adult is around $16-19 an hour, for your average industry. Cleaners, security, wait staff etc. Casuals get higher amounts. Casuals are around $18-22/hr. Again depending on industry.

A quick Google search will show you that the minimum wage is just under $19. Where you got $25 from, I don't know. Tipping is not required because people actually get paid here. I'd never go out to eat in America, I'm not going out to pay to eat or drink then also pay the workers wage. Free refills are part of America's weight problem, I wouldn't be proud of that.

Australian public toilets have to have a suitable gap at the bottom of the door for someone to slide under and not be so high that one can not climb over. It is a regulation building code. Money: Our notes are a special polymer base, whereas in the US it is actually a specialised rag base. Free refills: Only going to happen at HJ's or Sizzler. Hot bodies: hmmm... only on beaches and some tradies.

I also agree with the restaurant and other services like shopping here in Sydney. Australia has been on the top of minimum wage list since 1800s, meaning the working class here are way better off than other countries including the OECD nations. Even without experience, you could've imagined the scanty incentive they have to be nice and more tolerable. I am not saying they are necessarily impolite and incompetent, but they don't feel like the obligation to be very welcoming, accommodating and as professional as the workers in other countries based on my 2 yrs experience in Sydney. Coz there's no that pressure on them.

The one thing i tip for is delivery drivers. I was a delivery driver and I can not tell you how happy I am when someone wants to give you a tip. The worst though is when something is $29.95 and they want that 5 cents when they give you $30 Also you can still tip, but it’s usually a communal tip that is shared

Thanks for the good word on bathrooms. I'm glad they're good. However I am peripherally aware of communal urinals. I think we don't have mandatory tipping because we have good minimum wages. You can find the occasional voluntary tip jar in some stores. Our plastic notes are really tough. I love our bills. I also love the CST already being on an item's price - it makes it simple. Yeah, free refills are not very common. The only places I know who do it are Subway and Sizzler. The best place to buy a drink I know is a pharmacy that has $1 bottles of water. Compared to other bottled water, that's cheap. Yep, we're on the underside of the world! Opposite seasons! I will find it fascinating to experience opposite sides when I go to Saxony. I do experience it in a small scale because of the driveway to my townhouse block. Because the button to open the gate is driver-side access, people drive up and down the driveway on the right-hand side. The gate is stuck open right now because the intercom is broken, but when it's working? Right side drive in a left-hand country! I'm glad quite a few of my country-mates are good-looking. I won't claim that for myself, I'm fat. I'm probably not ugly though, I just have a spare tire, or two. Also, glad to hear thing have been good since the first video. Hope it's still been good since September!

You tip for someone going far above normal expected service. You do, however, thank the waiter. The minimum wage is too high and we’re suffering for it in much worse ways than that. Re the refills: it’s becoming more common in some cafés now to get a discount if you bring your own cup or mug.

Ok, I'm just just gonna do one long comment here: -You don't have the vacant/inuse signs! Barbaric. The troughs are only in schools -Yeah, no tips because we have a decent minimum wage. -Our coins are different sizes and shapes so blind people can tell how much change they're getting back. -Our drink sizes are decent. My mate visited America and said he didn't buy drinks because he felt disguisted because their small is bigger than our large. -Yeah, that's just. This just science. -Yeah. I could never drive on the right side. -Really! I haven't noticed.

The tilt of the Earth. The Australians are under the equator, and the US is above. So, when we in US are tilted toward the Sun (so that we have Summer), the Australians are tilted away from the Sun (and thus they have winter). And, when Australians are tilted toward the Sun, we are titled away from Sun. The Earth has a tilt to its axis, according to what the scientists say.

Hi there , I have three kids 15 and under , I have really noticed the sway toward U.S speech expressions . It doesn't bother me , just a random observation . Thoughts from an Australian: [all points are from you numbering them, so if i skip a number thats why] 1) Yeah, girls bathrooms are so nice. Like when the sign is broken, i feel so AWKWARD! I didnt know the USA didnt have that. And yeah the boys bathrooms suck. I remember sneaking into one as a kid hiding from a friend at school and i was shocked haha!! 2) also there is "tips" in aus, but its like coins where you pay. At Maccas that money goes to charity. Also you might of went to a bad place if someone was rude to you. Im in wollongong, like from where I am. It's a 15 minute drive to the greater sydney area's. and without traffic 30 minutes to actual sydney. Ive only had a few places in my almost 20 years of life when the waitress was shitty. 3) Yes, I love our money. It doesnt break easily, also very hard to fake. Coloured money is a commonwealth thing, also our money is a lot like Canada's with the notes. :) They made it plastic so it can be okay with water. The USA should do that. Because then real money would be harder to fake and also wont be dead if it goes in to wash by accident. 4) Also there is free refills at subway and 7/11! [from memory] 6) Australia has the most slang in the world, over 700 slang words.

Aussie male urinal trough rules .. no man shall stand too close and pee next to another man . 2ft distance apart at minimum . no man shall turn his head sideways at all . Aussie males don't like hand basin urinals . theres too much danger of splash back or overflowing if you have had a few beers .

Why is the concept of northern and southern hemispheres so difficult for Americans to understand? Don 't they teach geography in the USA or are they still working on the flat earth theory?

You kinda contradicted yourself unintentionally when you were talking about vocabulary. You said it's weird that most words are shortened, yet you wrote 'vocab'. See the problem? Not hating, just pointing it out.
@thetimekeeper955
@thetimekeeper955 6 жыл бұрын
Her point is the sheer quantity of words Australians shorten, not that it's not done elsewhere. I know that when I started looking into Australian slang, I was stunned at how many words were arbitrarily truncated to something that typically ends with an 'o.' Same story with peoples' names.

Reason tax is added in is because it's to hide the amount of HIGH taxes. In America you experience how much taxes you pay each time you buy. This feeling sticks with you at the voting booth.

Our minimum wage is smaller than that and it changes with age. Also it's not surprising that Aus has higher paying wages because well everything is more expensive here. We're a wealthier country, so we need to be paid a lot more to survive.

Hi again Liz 😜 Elizabeth 😊 Loved last video left a comment on differences because your in Sydney, no hating.Blue mountains and northern rivers, beautiful green countryside in NSW. Thought id teach you some stuff you had no chances to see (female or before you were here) 1.we do have individual urinals aswell, ill get you a pic if you want?..its still kinda the same, the curious will still see your bits if they want to look bad enough. 2.We phased out paper money around same time we abolished 1 and 2 $ notes, and 1 and 2 cent coins...was i think around 1990..Was a kid, dont remember the EXACT year.. 3.lol @ you still say 'fall'..we call it autumn, cute quirk I say.😊 And yes, the English always remind us how we botched the language, its true 😂😂😂..hope it doesnt caus you too many headaches !! If you like pretty boys, will definately like Gold Coast or Sunshine coast in QLD !!! Keep on keeping us smiling, thanks for another amusing video, hope you like it here !! Be well
