You can tell that EAE really has performers influencing their product designs. The compressor with visual feedback alone is what other companies would charge $199 for and this has so much more!

Best review of these products, which seem to be flying under the radar a bit (well aware of them as I'm lucky to own an EAE amp). One thing I'm wondering about the Stomp/GigiMix - is it possible to mix several signals to a Mono out (L channel only)?

@@aaronshortmusic in my case it would be a split pickup, but basically the same 2 in 1 out. I figured it would work like this, but there’s no mention of this in the documentation. Thanks for your reply!

Hello - Thank you for the video. One Question please: Is it possible to link the channels 3 and 4 to control a stereo signal ( Canal 3 Left / Channel 4 Right ) (e.g. half playback from a cell phone) with one volume control? Thanks Joerg

Fantastic video Aaron. These have been coming up in my feed and it’s almost like they were reading my mind about an upgrade I was looking for. How are the preamps in these? More of a clean/transparent pre or does it have any color/character?

I tried one of these and they sound great and really do a lot really well. One negative is all the reverb adjustments are global which really limits what you can do as most settings cannot not be applied well to all 4 channels at the same time. I think shimmer should only be on one channel like the delay. It would work better this way, just saying!
@aaronshortmusic

Good point. You should email EAE and let them know. Maybe it can be updated. I tend to use external effects but you are correct that it would be more flexible.

Hi Aaron a venue I play regularly has 2 1/4 jacks coming out the wall for the house system. I use the Xvive U4 wireless monitoring. Could I (with the right adaptor) run the monitors from output 2 whilst the L/R from output 1 go to the house?

I'm using a Red Eye DI with a balanced XLR out. What would be the best way to run that into the GigMix? XLR to TRS cable?
@aaronshortmusic
@aaronshortmusic Жыл бұрын
I would just take unbalanced 1/4” from the DI to the mixer since I doubt it will be far away. You could also use XLR to XLR but then you are losing a mic input on the mixer. No point doing XLR to TRS. You may as well do XLR to XLR.
@kmacdc4

@@aaronshortmusic Yeah, I'm trying to use the effects loop on the Red Eye, the only out on it is a XLR. Unless, the Gigmix would make the DI irrelevant.

Hi Aaron, I am connecting a classical piezoelectric guitar and a microphone into the mixer. I connected mixer out 1/4 Jack to 1/4 Jack into a Subzero speaker and it doesn’t sound good. Might it be because of the connection (should I do Jack Jack left right into an XLR to the speaker?) or should I change the speaker?😅
@aaronshortmusic
@aaronshortmusic 5 ай бұрын
What is a Subzero speaker? If it is a poor quality speaker then save up for a better speaker. I like the QSC K8.2 with this mixer. It sounds amazing.

Excellent review - just like your previous one on the StompMix. In fact, your review of the StompMix was my first exposure to the product...and I went right out and bought it. :-) Love it! It‘s also great that the thing is firmware-upgradable, such that EAE even added a couple cool features after my purchase. It’s nice to not be locked into a product that can‘t get be upgraded. So what will the new model cost? The EAE site says nothing about price, nor is it listed under their Shop section (so apparently it‘s not yet available for purchase?). Oh, one more thing: As far as I gather from their site, this new product - like its more foot-stompable predecessor - offers up to 10 user set-ups, so not just A and B. That makes it usable even for a different duo or band set-up, or for switching from one guitar to another or to a mandolin or whatever. All the gain and EQ and effect settings best for each instrument can be pre-entered, and you‘re good to go. The form factor of these pedals is magnificent, and the feature set is brilliant. And the company has learned from its user base, it seems, for the previous model I got only had gain pots for channels 1 and 2, leaving 3 and 4 without. Not good! The new model reviewed here has one pot for each of the 4 channels - excellent! Heck, I might just sell my StompMix and get this new model, since I don‘t need phantom power for live gigs, nor do I need preset selection by footswitch. It‘s totally OK to kneel down and switch the unit after an instrument change or whatever. EDIT: This unit (and its predecessor) are perfect as a compact mixer for column systems like the HK Polar 10 or 12, which lack onboard reverb, etc. Just toss it on the floor or a chair next to the speaker, and that‘s all you need for levels, compression and effects. And the concept gets even better when you realize that you get to multiply the few available channels on most column speakers, since you can get 4 inputs into the 1 input on the speaker, leaving the others free for whatever (or for even a second mixer like this one). Sure, you can use a regular small-sized mixer (like from Allen & Heath), but it will in most cases not offer all these features, nor is the form factor great for a solo performer lugging all his own stuff to the wedding or whatever, and wanting to be as unobtrusive as possible.

You are right. You can store settings for different setups on it as well! That’s another pro for a digital mixer. Also it costs just $199 which is $100 less than the StompMix and is an incredible deal in my opinion.

@@aaronshortmusic Thanks for the confirmation, and especially for the pricing! Wow - that‘s really a deal! I‘ll definitely be picking up one of these as soon as it becomes available in Germany, if only for the ability to adjust the input gain on all channels.

Aaron, can you get four separate independent channels that have separate EQ and effects per channel my user is different than yours. Yes. I use it for guitar and vocals and both can be processed independently. It’s a really cool mixer and so portable! Just check the user guide or with Elite as I have not used all 4 inputs at once. Also the stomp mix and gig mix have different input configurations so check them both out.

Hi, I'm probably asking a dumb question, but does this run on rechargeable batteries? I'm looking for a mixer for vocals (with reverb) that doesn't need to be plugged in. Hoping to also plug in my guitar & bass. I have an ION rechargeable speaker that has a usb recharge plug, it that makes any difference in my search.
