best balance i have found for money is to start in ceos, fill up on every mission you can fit that can be completed just by docking (skip the BS missions where you have to search out salvage or hunt a pirate), and fly to Sothis. dock at newholm first, turn in, and pick up more missions till your mission log is full, then fly over to Sothis Mining, and turn in stuff for there, THEN be picky which missions you take first. there are some lucrative commodity hauling missions spawned here (you will want a high cargo medium ship, python/clipper or the like). its easy to make 10 mil on the trip back to Ceos, and yo ucan do that loop many times per hour. It may not be 100-200 mil per hour money, but its nice bonus change while your grinding up the Fed ranks.

It's been months since I've been there. I'm glad to see it hasn't changed. Maybe I'll make another trip. I used to make about 30 mil with my asp doing smuggling missions on the return trip to the bubble.

You don't need to use silent running at any stations for smuggling. Just fly at over 200m/s straight down the axis of the station. The feds circulate the entrance looking forward, so they don't see you when you come in down the axis.

Maia has a set up like this. Take missions to system 14ly away and back also. Think I was docking at 5 different stations in 2 systems and pretty good credits

the grind is real but if you take missions for the first two stations in the system your going to it works out quite well and you will make ok gold doing it as a newer player, would work great in your new series!

lol ya, the hardest part is getting there, had to call the fuel rats on my way out, not watching my fuel and when i noticed it was low there was no where for me to use my scoop..btw, there are huge passenger missions to do once you finish your rep grind.

S/C is more of a get rich scheme while making some progress in rank, as well as a quicker way to unlock Qwent(sp?) a bit faster. And one that's more "lore friendly" than the abuse at Robigo (lols?). If you're prioritizing the missions from Federation Unite! and even when allied, you won't make much money, as that faction rarely has missions above 1m. And you'll have to stack. They do have a mediocre chance at giving you a long haul mission, but no where near the frequency of the other 3 factions. Their massacre/scan missions in times of war/unrest are less than average compared to the other hot spots you can find. For the combat related missions, it means taking that 100K+ run out to the far celestials (in both systems) to get to the haz-rez/conflict zones. The zones near Newholm seem to have a slow respawn rate. However, the money you make (from) there is really about the long haul missions from ALL the minor factions at that station (once allied), and even then waiting on the 8/16/24 ton missions with their payout above 4 million (once allied with all) while running data (for the feds). But no, S/C is not a fast way to rank up if that's what you're really intending on doing. But if you're really intent on making money, it is a good place, though think Wu Guinagi/HIP 10716 (the Empire side of things) is faster. Side note: Yes the process while at S/C is boring, that's where the long hauls come in that take you back to the core. Gives you a chance to run some missions while there before you make the trek back to S/C.

Ceos / New Dawn Station today has zero missions available. Sothis / Newholm Station spawns ~7 data delivery missions for 5k-19k credits. Not really worth it. Sothis / Sothis mining spawns 2-3 data delivery and 1-2 cargo delivery missions. Looks like this method is dead for now.

Quince is lucrative when you get you exploration rank up, higher the rank the more money you get from the scans, i'm currently pathfinder and i get missions from 1.1-1.3 mil. I use the sidewinder, get the scan, then self destruct, wait like 20 sec after and the missions pop up complete, rinse repeat, 100 mil an hour. I've only been playing for two weeks and already have a A class Imperial Cutter

The data missions are ok, but I don't find that the rank goes up that fast doing data missions, because there's only one federation group out there. You can make some decent money from Sothis/Ceos with long range trading though. If you have an anaconda with about 350 tonnes cargo, you can stack up missions to the bubble, and easily make around about 40 million per trip (about 2 hours to drop off all deliveries and get back).

clarkaway you don't need to take commodities there. Just check the mission board, and you can stack a number of missions offering up to 7 million for around 30/40 tonnes

Pretty random, but if you refresh the board for about 10 mins, you can pick up a decent collection. I tried last night, just for a test. Took about 6 refreshes, and I picked up 10 missions for a total of 350 tonnes, which gave 37 million credit. Look for the missions that pay about 1000,000 for around 10 tonnes, and ignore the ones offering 5/6 million for 160 tonnes etc.

Damm i'm trying to get the Federal Drop ship for months. I was rank with empire way before Horizons come up, when i back to game play after the engineers path, I left the empire and join in Federation. I'm 100% rank none with not a single nav rank mission.... Doing federal missions for weeks now and nothing. Do you thing going to CEOS ans SOTHIS may help?

not sure - they are federation factions down there - all depends if the system is in a state of war or not now as I have moved on to hassle the engineers

Sworn i was an ally with no rank and no ranking-up missions showing up for a long time, had to go to niu-hsing to finally rank up. the ranking and reputation system in Elite Grinderous is plain stupid and non-intuitive.

sothis/ceos is dead now,was there last night in the state has now changed to BOOM/WAR?UNREST so missions are very little. shame reallly cos i made about 150 million in 3 nights the week last and paid for my anaconda :-)

The BGS impacts all systems. If it went out of boom, you can do the socially responsible thing and try to put it back in boom via trade and missions. if its unrest, that means there are players in the system slaughtering non-wanted NPCs and other players. you can go bounty hunter and chase them off if you have a PVP ready ship.

Jeremy Williams reputation, not rank. this is what gets beginners confused. you build reputation with factions, and if they are part of a superpower you gain reputation with that superpower at the same time. then you rank-up.

Jordon Jensen it is a boring run however it is 'approved' gameplay. Some people do view the Robigo mines method as an exploit and a way of gaining an unfair advantage
