“I’m the guy who flies 10,000 light years to take photos of mushrooms.” Quote of the week!!! Great overview. Thankyou. I missed the stream and this has explained it incredibly well: the voice of reason. Thankyou.

This overhaul is most welcome and Definitely better late than never, the fleet surrounding the carrier is a nice sign of showing how much power done faction has in a solar system, breathes more life into the galaxy in a power hungry way

Agreed. I'm sure there's much more to be seen!

Yes this seems to only scratch the surface. I'm out in the black too but love reason to return the bubble. Hopefully the trip back becomes shorter with new expansion

What is needed is benefits like power decals or paintjobs that are only available while with a power. That will make players stick to certain power. Now its just jump from one to another to get the equipment.

The name Powerplay Refreshed makes me feel that it wont be a big change, I like the graphical map, and the idea of stronghold systems that you can assault (maybe).
@CMDRExorcist7 ай бұрын
Honestly, I think it might be a better title to temper expectations because there seems to be a sense that PowerPlay 2.0 is going to be completely different than 1.0. Instead, I view it as a refinement of current systems. You'll still pledge to your preferred NPC key art and battle for supremacy, but the WAY in which it's done and represented will change. I hope I'm wrong. :)

@@CMDRExorcist I think you are right, calling it a refresh brings down expectations. I think people are excited and they need to make sure people dont get angry when it just gets reskinned.
@scorpion29a7 ай бұрын
Well from what they have shown, there are not much to expect. And how they added new stuff in the last 10 years, I don't expect too much. Unfortunately people are so easy to make up their own expectations and there for are so disappointed. I guess people don't realize what Elite actually is (they probably don't even know this is Elite 4) and then expect to have every single system they ever saw in any other (space) game to be in ED.

There is a lot more to come for sure on the PP2/ refresh. It will be great to see what more they have for us in another month. The new look of the PP in the galaxy map was a fantastic improvement for me. It will definitely make reading areas easier. You got my vote for a inhabitable ring look for fleet carriers. To that I say, "Take my money!" By the way - I LOVED seeing the add for the Python Mk2 at 11:10. =D As always, great video buddy. o7

Thanks for the heads up, Exorcist. My 2,417 cents on PP (PowerPlay) 2.0: I am not interested in Power Play. At. All. Neither game-wise, nor in real life. I always assume that if humanity does not cooperate in the future, there is no humanity in the future. I like gameplay where one has to work WITH other players to achieve a common goal. Hence why I do not think of the CommunityGoals as cooperative but competitive, because you always have to be in the top 75% to get anything - the bottom 25% might just not participate, if they want to get what ever is rewarded. (On that note I am very positively surprised that the current CG grants a reward to ANYONE participating... thank you, Frontier.) To anyone who might argue "Oh, so you are just lazy!" - no. I don't mind working. I just mind working if part of my work is done in order to climb over others. I'd rather help others up to where I already am, instead of trodding them down in order to stay afloat. I consider humanity to be a team game - not a competition. I know "team game" usually means "one team vs another team", but I mean "we ALL are just one team - there is no other team". Carl Sagan said it best in "Pale Blue Dot": kzbin.info/www/bejne/rabThaKnr5aYaMk And that's why PowerPlay will never be for me. (And I did not even mention my aversion towards following or worshiping any leaders; being German I do not think I have to explain, why... . ^^ * Looking at 'murica, slightly worried o_0 *) That being said: I did participate in PowerPlay, if only for the modules involved. I'd rather would have done fetch quests instead, though... . And anyone who is happy with all the things to come: I hope it will be fun for you. (And I genuinely mean that; just because I don't like it doesn't mean to me that it should not exists.) Furthermore I hope for Frontier this is going to be good for the game, because I'd like to see Elite staying online. Elite is still a good game. Flawed, yes; but then again, how isn't? ;) Have a nice day, and Happy Easter! o7

The problem with powerplay, and more generally with everything that happens in the bubble, is that when you are an explorer you are often very far from the bubble, hours or even days in terms of jumps. And so that's the whole issue with Elite Dangerous, because you have to make a choice between playing 99% of the features (which are in the bubble) or 99% of the game world (which is outside the bubble). Or else you have to have two accounts to have two commanders but that's something I absolutely don't want to do. It would then be necessary at least that we could transfer equipment from one account to another. Another possible option would be for fleet carriers to become real machines for making very significant jumps in the galaxy, rather than being snails as they are today that go slower than any well-customized Anaconda, and also with an exorbitant tritium cost. With my fleetcarrier, I can travel 500 light-years every half hour without even being able to plan a route in advance, whereas with my Anaconda I can travel 75 light-years every minute with all the necessary route planning features.
@scorpion29a7 ай бұрын
Well that's kind of the point of the vastness of the galaxy. Making carriers be able to jump longer would negate that and would on the long run be detrimental to the game experience. Life is full of choices with consequences. I do feel the issue explorers face, so maybe they should add long range Apex services all over the galaxies, that way you could travel while you sleep, just like players offer their Colonia services. Even tho that locks you out of playing the game for several days, but it's better than ruining the narrative of the game.
@sergiothebest_AI7 ай бұрын
@@scorpion29a Yes, I completely agree with that. In what I propose, it's not the solution I prefer, it's just a possible solution. I fully agree that the idea of venturing far from the bubble and realizing that you are truly going far away, because it will take a long time to return, is very important. And from that perspective, traveling while sleeping with Apex services will also break that aspect of the game, anyway. My preferred solution is still to have two commanders, but linked by something special, not just two separate accounts, so that we can engage in activities in the bubble that are currently quite separate from the rest of the game. Today, for example, this is what holds me back from going further into the galaxy because I think that if there is an update at any time that offers new ships or things like that, well, it will bother me to be several days away from being able to benefit from these additions.
@Timberwolf697 ай бұрын
Even as an independent pilot that gets a warm welcome wherever they go, I like these changes. I am still working my way through the ranks of federal and imperial navy to unlock their ships and things like that would make it so much easier to see if the system I'm heading to is the one I'm looking for.
@scorpion29a7 ай бұрын
You can already see all that from game now, galaxy map, system map, station services, ... You don't need some banner in a station to know where you are and who owns the system. It's a nice addition, but if that's the only thing they'll add, it won't be much "2.0", rather "1.3".
@Timberwolf697 ай бұрын
@@scorpion29a Yes, you can see all that, but it is very fiddly and unintuitive. I've found myself more than once in a system that was of the right allegiance, but the surrounding systems were not. Spending an hour studying the map with a magnifying glass is a little too oldschool for me. Besides, if you had payed attention to the video, they initially had planned to reveal quite a bit more about the new PP, but due to the person assigned to talk about it getting sick before the livestream, this didn't happen. There is definitely more to come.

These little details are nice and all, but they literally said Power Play "2.0" was to be a rework with the goal of encouraging pvp. Now they're calling it a "refresh", which to me seems they're just polishing the turd that is the current system. How do station cosmetics encourage players shooting each other? Power Play needs to be open only or at the very least have additional incentives for open play. Fdev acknowledged this in a livestream years ago when Power Play launched but it never happened. The lead designer said it is the consensual pvp system of the game, it exists for teams of players to engage against other teams of players. However in practice it encourages solo play to simply shop for modules every four weeks and bugger off to the next power. Fix this and you fix Power Play. My suggestions for a fix would be to either add a new module for the final tier that requires you to remain pledged in order to equip it or separate the modules from Power Play entirely. Or better yet, add actual pvp engagement via pp to the weekly free ARX cap. Imagine how fast Power Play would kick off if you could net another 200 ARX every week by pew pewing other players?
@scorpion29a7 ай бұрын
Quite honestly, ED should be "Open only" from the beginning, all the systems in it are designed that way, and Private/Solo pretty much ruined the game. The economy would even itself out that way, it would generate a much better feeling and build up community, and to all "solo" players that are afraid of "gankers" - there are 400bil star systems, the odds of you getting ganked (especially with current netcode and how player discovery works, and all the tools you have to escape) are so low, they shouldn't even matter.
@Squidgy557 ай бұрын
I don't know much about PP, haven't pledged but the fact that you can do it in solo seems a bit daft to me. I've never played solo, not once.

If history thought us anything, what they showed is all we'll get. We expected from every feature they implemented much more and always got bare bones systems, so I wouldn't hype myself up too much. Not that it's such a bad thing, but they create hype themselves, and people want Elite to be something it was never meant to be, so there is always a lot of disappointment in their "new features".
