@Evilmike42 There's really no need for player trading at all. FDev tried a half-ass version of player trading with the carriers and they're completely unused. The entirety of the current trading system involves commodities that hold zero value to players aside from credits, and just about anything can be be found ANYWHERE within the bubble. The only thing I could imagine being traded between players is rare engineering materials, but there still wouldn't be near enough of a market to justify a completely separate trading system.

Jingles... You DO know that you can lock your gimballed or turreted weapons into a fixed position so that they do not give a dam about chaff and the like right? It is not ideal since because reasons the gimballed and turreted weapons do less damage than fixed weapons. But if your enemy spams chaff it may be a good idea.

(Some?) Fixed weapons also gimbal a tiny bit in a way that helps shooting more accurately. Afaik locked gimbals/turrets don`t do that.

@@57thorns It's in the right cockpit panel (4 key by default) under the Ship tab. You can use any of the controls there at any time. It means taking your eyes off the fight for a few seconds though. It may also be possible to bind it to a hotkey.

I strongly recommend Long range and the thermal vent experimental effect. Hitting a target cools your ship and you hit out to 4.2+km with no damage falloff.

5:06 fixe weapons are limited by your skill but also by their placement on your ship. I always miss half of my volley because two hardpoints are too spread out on the ship and half of the volley go wide in a close dogfight. To make the very limited gimble effect of fixe weapons to work, you need to be far enough from your target, but they never let you stay at that good distance and you always lose more DPS by not having a target solution with fix weapon than putting gimble turret. If you have no squad to support you, fixe weapons only work on the small agile fighter, big sluggish ship when you are solo need gimble or even full-on turret to alloy you to be some what effective in combat.

That's one of the strengths of the Krait Mk. II. Its weapon hardpoints are very closely clustered together and so it's very easy to get all of them on target (as long as they have the same aimpoint). My REZ stomping Krait uses 3x Fixed Large Multicannons.

Also one of the strengths of long range weapons, as fixed still have a small glimbal arc, so long range, fixed weapons can converge and shred at kilometers instead of needing to get closer and have some miss

@@technotrousers381 Though for energy weapons the better value of long range weapons is that their damage drop-off is aggressive after 500m and even long range 1 extends that out to 3000m, so unless you're in a ship that's really really good at controlling the range of engagement you'll do better with long range beams than any other. Their power draw doesn't matter so much as you can switch to low drawing kinetic weapons once the enemy's shields are down, and most AI pilots have much more strength in hull than shields.

On a ship like the conda turreted weapons will help quite a bit, they track the enemy even when the move out of your line of sight, particularly handy when fighting the more maneuverable ships! Can't wait for the next episode!

Try making a variety of missions, bounty, mining, trading, etc. Most missions give engineering materials as rewards, and you don't need to do the same thing over and over and over.

just an FYI Etienne Dorn is only engineer that offers G5 life support in the entire galaxy, anyone that wants to maximize jump distance should definitely unlock him and pin the Lightweight G5 branch. He's extremely easy gain access to. It takes about 20 minutes to get the escape pods and the only thing you need is at least 25 Cargo space and a hatch breaker limpet and collector limpets. If you didn't bring those with you, just goto Jaques station in Colonia and temporarily equip them for this guy. The escape pods can be collected from a single distress call / Megaship around Luchtaine: Planet A 1. Just drop into the system, scan the nav beacon and then look for distress beacon around that planet. After scanning the ship with your datalink, you can find Escape Hatch 3 and then get close to it and scan it. Then a 'sub-target' shows up (last tab on your navigation left panel) for a limpet docking port. You can deploy your hatch breaker on the docking point a few time and get around 12-20 escape pods. Once it wont let you deploy anymore hatch breakers, just relog to the main menu and repeat the ship scanning, escape hatch scan, sub target and hatch breaker it once again. Should take no more than 2 or 3 cycles of that to get 25.

Notes about bringing along a pilot for your fighter: 1) They will take their profit cut as long as they are employed even if you switch ships to something without a fighter bay. Remember to send them back to the station before you go try to make money mining. 2) They can rank up, but their cut of your profits doesn't change. This can mean it's often better to get the worst one you can find and spend time letting them rank up rather than paying the higher cut for a pilot who's better right off the bat. 3) They leech some of your combat experience, so if you're looking to try and rank up to Elite, even if they're already Elite, it can be better to go without one because it will go faster that way.

Jingles, one way you can possibly change your fire groups is to put the Collector Limpets on the same key as the Mining Lasers. You just have to pulse them if you're not mining. As well, then you can put the Prospector Limpet on the alternate key of the same fire group.

dunno how they spell it in Elite, but the Krayt was one of the largest fighter class ship in Star Wars Jump to Lightspeed, operated by the cartel/hutt factions. Was only a 1 man fighter originally, but they added a turreted version, and it had about half the weight rating of a YT-1300 (Millenium Falcon type ship)

Little hint ive got from one of our mouse-vets: Change the yaw axis to your mouse, and map q/e to roll (wasd for vertical/lateral movement). Also, dont worry about your NPC's payment, a hallmark of every seasoned Commander is having a hireling whos a freakin billionaire. Its worth training one up from harmless in the long run tho, hes satisfied with a couple % less of the cut.

Getting the 25 occupied escape pods is a bit time consuming but not too bad. Land on a Planet/Moon in a system with stations and drive around and look for the signature of cargo containers. Quite often you'll find a few occupied escape pods as well. And if you are really lucky you find a crashed ship with up to 6 escape pods scattered around.

Hey Jingles there is a federal Capital Ship being worked on in Space dock in the 89 Leonis system if your interested in showing it to your followers here on youtube or in your stream. Its located by one of the planets in the system you may have to scan the system but I don't think I had to if I remember correctly. I've been playing about a month now and your content has helped a lot so keep up the good work!

A nice thing to note about NPC co-pilots, their percentage is set when you hire them, but you can level them up. Hiring someone who's Harmless or Mostly Harmless only takes ~2%, but if you do enough combat with them they can rank up to Dangerous, while still only taking 2% instead of 12%. If your ship gets destroyed they are lost forever, though.

You're definitely going to want to start engineering up that Krait as quickly as you can, particularly the power distributor and the powerplant. She's fun, and MUCH better at combat than a 'Conda- enjoy! Also, are there signal sources to drop into when you're in supercruise? Various types will have various grades of materials available- may be worth checking out as well.

Jingles if you unlock your target and just point your nose towards the enemy your gimballed weapons become fixed so chaff doesn't have any effect, you then just relock when the chaff has dissipated and continue with the thrashing ;)

I started playing Elite Dangerous recently while the game was on sale, and I found out by watching Jingles that the game has a singleplayer mode, which is good because I don't like other players. After some farming I accumulated a little bit of wealth to warrent a new ship. Knowing absolutely nothing about the game's complicated machanics, I just randomly chose Kraith MK. II because among the ones I can afford I like how this one looks the best. So you can understand how reassured I am when I heard from Jingles that apparently this is a good choice.

Jingles... you do know that Broo Tarquin also gives grade 5 lasers and he’s in the bubble. As far as I know there are only two modules whose max grade is not available in the bubble, those two being G4 shield cell banks (highest available), and G5 life support.

I`d recommend grade 2 or 3 long range lasers over grade 5 efficient lasers the damafe fall off of lasers start at 600m, after thar they do almost no damage. With long range, there is no falloff

If you are getting chaffed, you can just remove the target lock and your gimballed weapons will lock forward. Though it will definitely make following the target harder. Also, oftentimes you can just boost away from where you dropped in to mine where enemy npcs don't spawn, so you can mine in peace. Though I suspect both of these have been mentioned by 10 billion other comments before me, so I don't even know why I'm writing all of this.

The cost of the crew scales based upon their rank when you employ them - so someone you trained up from scratch will be cheaper than if you recruited tham already trained to a level. You can convert gimballed weapons to (less powerful) fixed weapons by untargetting them

Jingles, put a keyboard key for cargo bay door, is waaay faster to open/close that. Also, change ur lasers to pulse & long range, are far better ;Also, end your fighter pilot contract, buy the cheapest one and "school" him up, trough combat; I did that with mine, is ranked "dangerous" now, and only take 8% of my earnings ! Most NPC when they scan me say now "sorry I don't mean to bother you" :p

Is it right in general that the gimbaled weapons are easier and more accurate ( if you are not so skilled ) but , the fixed are more powerfull ? I am only 1 week into the game and 2 re starts but Ive been finding things out as I go . Also beam weapons and rail guns etc are slow and heat up more . So having a gimbaled version seems a better way than a fixed beam ?

Don't forget if you recruit an NPC pilot who is the lowest level and let them level up with you they cap out at 9% instead of 12% which is nice.
