That's not really how it works, you find an unidentified beacon and then it transmits a message like once an hour or so. You pickup the message, it's a bunch of mess and use NATO decryption to make sense of it. It shows coordinates and the planet in the same system and then you actually fly there. One decrypted by a single player though it's marked in EDSM and additional sites like those and there's no longer a need for others to do the same.

Just imagine all the possibilities. -Walking around your ship, with total immersion -Being able to jump through the rings of a planet -Having FPS battles with people There's just too much to mention. Many things to think of. Once they do add this though, you'd have 3 main ways to get around. Either from Flying, Driving, or Walking. This would just add much much more variety in the game with much more opportunities, and you guys know this. If you think deep enough you'd be overwhelmed with the possibilities that come to mind.

Thank you Scott - love your style ... very refreshing among all the scatterbrain KZbin contributors. Thargoid structures remind me of Prometheus' organic spaceships and structures ... Elite Dangerous devs keep adding new material for exploration and investigation ... keeps surprising me ... nice pace of keeping an otherwise declining (?) game interesting and up to date. Don't stop working on it devs, ELITE is a nice fun alternative between StarCitizien and EVE. Keep to this recipe and you will have a market in the Space exploration/trading/shooter genre. I have played ELITE 35 years ago ( ! ) on my Commodore64 on a 640x460 black and white television with wire frame graphics ...smiles. ELITE and Sundog were the best games back then and the recipe still works it seems.

As Someone who hated the grind just a while back. It ain't that bad anymore. Mission payout is buffed and it isn't that hard to do a mission in your sidewinder that'll award you 100k. (back in the day i remember not getting much more that 3-4 k if i was lucky 20). I also hated the "ship gap" in the beginning. For almost every profession there was a ship that you'd get stuck in. For a long time. I was stuck in the Viper for instance, when i moved on to trading so i could AT LEAST switch up to the cobra. Which i then had to earn 1.000.000 > for so i could get a type 6. ( roguey.co.uk/elite-dangerous/ships/ ) roguey's site is awsome, i used it for X3:AP all the time. Sort by price, and imagine there was nothing between the viper mark 4 and the cobra mk 4, there was also no imperial eagle. That's a 700k gap. That i had to deal with way back when. It sucked. There are now more viable ships you can fly in between. so it ain't that boring any more. There's still of course a bit of gap present. But it isn't as bad as way back in alpha, beta. For instance, i want to go exploring but i only have 3 million in assets total. and the best discovery scanner is 3 million already... so shit. That's why i'm doing rare trading now until i can get an ASP or something similar. I can't tell you anything about horizons since i've bought the 100 get-almost-everything edition back in alpha/beta. For a while i really was angry i didn't refund back during the always online debacle. But i don't mind now :) I'd reccomend not sticking to one profession. do some combat, some trading, some mining etc. Currently the game is "space trucking sim" since i'm doing rare trading in my Type 6(buying a dolphin today i hope :) ). But that's my choice. I could also buy another ship and to do combat missions.

No, it's because the Devs are GREAT and i mean GREAT. at visuals, and sound design. but horrifically awful at making the games base content fun, and Scott Cut's a lot of the monotonous jumping, and grinding out for us (which i really appreciate). Everything boils down to grinding for a better ship, that's what they rely on. instead of engaging content, they add in new things to grind for, like power-play and engineers. I think they made it TOO big. much like No Mans Sky, too much relying on Procedural generation, though obviously, NMS makes this game look good by comparison.

@szyzyg @Scott Manley Hey Scott, if you want to use a controller for Elite Dangerous please let me recommend changing the default controller settings the game defaults to. I do not know why but ever since horizons has come out they default the controls to an advance controller preset that really isn't that great. Instead switch it over to Default Context (try saving going back in and saving a few time, it really doesn't like switching to this sometimes). If you are in default context preset, then your main a,b,x,y buttons will have actions on single press, but also when you hold the buttons will have a context menu come up showing you key combinations. Like holding Y (triangle for PS) and pressing left on dialog opens galaxy map, Y right opens system map, Y up jumps to supercruise and Y down jumps to hyperspace. This is the controller design used by the xbox version (and presumably the playstation version) that allows the user to access most of the controls you have access to on the keyboard. TLDR: Go to settings and switch to Default Context for Gamepad support, it is how the game was designed to be played on consoles.

@benrussell-gough12017 жыл бұрын
My guess it was a mobile industrial area of some sort. It probably was building at least Corvette/Clipper-class or maybe even capship-class starships. It has likely exhausted all the planet's useful resources and the Scavengers are ROVs picking any remaining useful materials before the factory ship leaves. I'm sure that the central structure is the starship itself and everything else are waste products and off-casts from the ship fabrication process. Why couldn't Scott get into the first one? Simple: The factory ship was getting ready to leave and the inner airlock doors were sealed. The second one discovered by the Canonn clan is likely active. The display they found may be a navigational aid or it could be a strategic map showing targets identified by the UAs and UPs.
