It's a joy to hear YOUR joy with these upgrades! I've only been playing Elite for a couple of months, and one of the aspects I'm really enjoying is how each time I purchase and upgrade a new ship, I fall in love with that ship. First their was the default Sidewinder, then the Cobra Mk. III, then the Asp Explorer, then the Orca, and now the Python. The missions I'm finding most fun are the community goals involving cargo delivery - and the Python is kicking a**. I've also had great fun with passenger missions, for which the Orca is wonderful - I have three monitors setup with TrackIR, and I just love taking in the view of the cockpit whenever I have time. And when I want a change from cargo and passenger missions, I love doing exploration with the Explorer, which in many ways is still my favorite ship. My least favorite aspect is anything to do with battles - not because how it is implemented, but because I suck at it - I can't tell you how many times I've lost a ship, and cargo/passenger missions, due to being interdicted and summarily destroyed. But thanks to a KZbin video I saw, I've adopted a method: if I see I can't avoid an interdiction, I submit to it, see the rank of the pilot doing the interdiction, and if anything greater than competent, use boost and thrusters until I can jump to hyperspace again. "He who runs away" and all that. Thanks again for your videos - they've been a great help and source of enjoyment!

Engineers made this (already)beast into a complete marvel. Mod it to ~30Ly jump range and it travels thousands Ly away without fuss. Module flexibility is also bonkers good. Gear it with cargo holds and it shines at quick trading runs and Community Goals... It's still agile and fun to fly overall, and nimble on tight spots. And unlike the fat belly Conda, or even the Clipper, it doesn't get defeated by an Outpost landing pad... it freaking embraces it. This is THE multi purpose ship. Anything we buy ingame after this one is like buying extra vanity trinkets to spend the stacked credits, or to just get something very specific while having to sacrifice a bunch of other great benefits you get so addicted to.

MAXLD I use the python for everything except combat. my current one has more than 40ly jump and is used for cargo and passenger missions. During the community goal that paid out 300 million CR, I moved 12k tons of goods in 8 hours in a 280t shielded python. Best ship in the game by far.

I'm working on an ultimate tank python with multi-cannons and long range beams. I think grinding all the rank and materials is going to take me all the way into next xmas 2017 :P

That build with a decent class 5 or 6 fuel scoop would be awesome. You could just do RES all day long with only a trip to the star to fuel your carnage!

You can't help but get the feeling that all the Cannons in the game are sat in a corner crying. It really does seem like they've poured everything into Plasma Accelerators and Beam Lasers with this patch. I would expect another beta in maybe 2.2.05 with FDev saying "Okay, okay, calm down. There are other weapons than PA's and beam lasers, you know! We're going to make mine launchers fire nukes, ignore shields, be homing, and have a visual of a semi-naked Latvian lapdancer on the HUD when it fires. Oh, and actually give you ammo for your other weapons when you launch them!" In all seriousness, it seems like a fun build. The Python, as a mission runner, is second to none. It's a great little ship once you've poured enough cash into it.

I share your love of the python. It's definitely my favorite ship as well, I think, if I don't count my exploration time out in the black, I might even have more time in it than my asp explorer

My combat Python internals are thermal grade 5 mirrored armor and all heavy duty hull Reinforcement said grade 5. Can stick around a lot longer when shields do drop.

I think the only drawback is that to get that sweet setup you have got to obtain a lot of materials to get the lvl5 rolls, coupled with 5 adjusts this will take a CMDR months to achieve. Would be interesting to see if lvl 1,2,3 etc interim enhancements give you an improved experience so you can progress r is it just lvl5 or nothing mods in all items. Also you could swap,long range to short range mo as most of your hits were 1km or less on moving npc's

I think the Python need a buff if they really upgrade those other military ships with more expansion slots. The Python was a really good ship before the nerf. It does OK in Combat, but far from being great since it is so slow in turn rates.

Also on a serious note......the shield boosters start to have diminishing returns after 80% and get capped after 120% So you could have 4 resistance augmented boosters on that Python with that prismatic shield, as they only do a 20% boost each to your shield MJ.......so that would add up to 80% increase in shield boost MJ, but a single grade 5 heavy duty booster can do 60% so you can only fit 1 heavy duty as after that your going to start suffering diminishing returns if your fitted another grade 5 heavy duty FD wanted to cap the high MJ strength players were getting not the resistance If that makes sense 😉

Actually 4 boosters each giving a 20% increase will add up to giving you a 107% increase in MJ. An addition of 20% is the same as a multiplication by 1.2 , so 4 boosters gives you 1.2 * 1.2 * 1.2 * 1.2 your initial strength. You can test this out in the outfitting. Who said games can't be educational?

Keith Roberts unfortunately a booster only is increase of 20% of the base shield, it does not take into account any other boosters.....so 4 standard boosters is a 80% of what ever shield you are using

I love the Python but I only ever use it for trading and mining. So I never use it. I use my Vulture or FDL for combat and my Courier for short range exploration. For long range, which I have never done, I might make an exploration-conda.

ChaosWulff this video was epic you really gave a true representation of how good the python is and with that set up it just decimates npc's. I fly this ship and did the grind for 6 months to gain this ship but i'm loving the game now thanks to this ship i enjoy your videos keep up the good work CMDR. Yes it's hard to hit small ship and small ship are far easier to Fly Takes a lot more skill to Fly a large ship effectively in combat

I'm half tempted to steal this build. The main thing stopping me isn't the 4 weeks of powerplay, the grind for engineer components or anything like that: I just hate Overcharged Power Plants.

It increases the sound emission of the enemy ship while increasing your heat output.

i really hate the random element in all that. not only the rolling but finding the stuff, too. been scanning wakes for three hours trying to get the datamined stuff. and nothing. who thought it would be fun to scan wakes forever to grind some arbitrary data that's needed for an fsd upgrade? because a game is supposed to be fun. and better yet, once I actually get one of those, there is a really high chance that the stuff I get from it will be crap. and I need to do it all over again. Plus, why can't I buy IRON when I can buy... I don't know... magical shield bubble generators. magical faster than light technology. gold, platinum, silver and all that jazz. At least for the rolling the solution is quite simple: You can choose yourself how much you want of the effects. The rest is automatically adjusted using predetermined formulas. The engineer will only do so much based on reputation with him. If you want a better deal (formulas in favor of performance), you will need better/more materials. No randomness and random amount of grind needed. Heck, just make it 5 times more expensive flat. Would still be better. Because deterministic systems are always better than random ones.
