How do we feel about gimballed for more time on target? I'm "newer" to ED pvp. It doesn't seem that much a damage knockoff?

The biggest problem is the jitter means you aren't hitting your target super often after 3km or so. You can definitely make it work with gimballed but its not nearly as effective. This build is more for fighting alongside people instead of 1v1s too, so keep that in mind. You will get stomped if you try to fight other large ships especially. It has a very specific fire support role, where you can get away with nuking 1 or 2 medium ships off the field in wingfights before either dying or escaping

I’m sorry, WHAT? You’re saying a weapon with .5 jitter is less accurate than someone attempting to snipe a ship 3km+ away with fixed weapons? Yes, jitter means the gimballed weapons miss occasionally, but they’re still more accurate than fixed weapons on a moving target which means even though fixed have more DPS, the gimballed will put reliable damage on a target 9 times out of 10.

What do you think about replacing all the LR/Conduit beams with EFF/Thermal Vent beams? Gives much better power handling, allows shields, but of course reduces damage past 600m. Is LR necessary for large ships using beams?

Sadly there isn't a way to really make beams work with shields on large ships, there will always be a better option. The only reason this build works is because you can nuke people out with thermal conduit before they realize what is happening

Silent running significantly increases heat output of your weapons, allowing you to take advantage of the Thermal Conduit mod for beam lasers (which increases damage by 50% when over 100% heat). This is important because you are spamming heatsinks, which both reduce your heat and regen weapon distributor. The heatsinks are what allow you to fire constantly, and the shields are a waste if you are immediately going into silent running

Are hull tanks actually bad? I had always thought it made more sense to hull tank starting out, but have never really gotten into high level pvp. if shield tanks are meta, wouldn't beam lasers be good?

Beam lasers eat too much distributor and the PvP meta requires power in systems and engines fairly often. As for hull tanks, they just have far too many counters and die very fast. Super high DPS builds like these help alleviate the problem a little but still wont be effective in a lot of scenarios.

What exactly allows you to exist at hundreds of percent heat and not melt instantly? In some clips it seems you're going at least some seconds >>100% heat without taking a single percent damage. Is it just massive hulls + resistances?

@@stingray7160 yeah just checked the build linked: it has 8k absolute hull, with 18k to thermal, and 94% module protection. I'm assuming heat damage counts as thermal? (Sounds kinda stupid but I wouldn't be surprised if it was absolute or something)

The anaconda has a ton of internal modules to absorb heat damage. When testing it out, I was able to heat up to like 7000% and my modules were sitting at 50-60%. Combine that with the fact that fights are so short in this thing due to the high damage and low HP pool, and it hardly becomes a problem
