Elite Dangerous - Smuggler Today we are going to take a look at my new preferred way of making money in Elite: Dangerous. Like many others following the path of the great Han Solo I to have joined the ranks of the smugglers and so far its working out quite well. Hope you enjoy!

+MagzTV I've turned back to bounty hunting for most my credits, its not very rewarding as it use to be, but when you only have 30 minutes or so. Granted my choice of ship right now kind'a dictates my flying, I'm tooling around in an Imperial Courier....

+Chaser McLoude Nice ride, Yeah you have to kind of roll with the ship you have. That's why I am so happy with the Asp, Smuggling all the way but if I want to do some exploring I can, Ships fully equipped with advanced exploration scanners and planetary scanners. Is able to land on planets and it carries a rover for ground exploration. Gives me a bit of flexibility.

+MagzTV I haven't bought Horizons yet, I just didn't have the spare 45$ USD. Feel kind'a cheepo when you probably paid somewhere closer to 60-70 saying that but. *shrugs* My ultimate goal for a ship is the Imperial Clipper. There is just something about the sleek lines of the Imperial faction ships that I find so attractive. I actually kind'a 'side-graded' I was originally flying a Cobra MK III but the more I looked at the Courier the more it did what I wanted to do better.

+Chaser McLoude They are nice ships. For the moment I haven't really chosen a faction side so I'll just be building bank for a Python or an Anaconda and we'll see what new ships get added over time.

+MagzTV I've been told you can actually build rep with both Imp and Feddie factions. There are guys in the loose coalition I tend to hang around that apparently switch between their different faction ships, well that and apparently have more credits than Apple has shiny interface apps.... One thing that's kind'a surprised me so far playing is that there are no faction ships for the Alliance, just Imps and Feddies.

just a tip magz an easy way to remember which stars are scoopable is KGB FOAM. Meaning each letter of that corresponds with the class of the star

stations can scan you now regardless of chaff and silent running, speed is what you need after you requesting docking. I have managed it even in an Anaconda.. nearly hit the back wall of the station, but dooable.

How about submitting to interdiction by idling your throttle and then using the same procedure with deploying hardpoints? Your FSD cools way faster, like at the normal jump, and not like FSD failure. Also setting in options "Looking at left hand panel - Does nothing" , :Looking at right hand panel - Does nothing" etc. will prevent those panels from pop up and annoy you when you look around. You can still use them in normal way with 1234 keys, but this way at least you can look around your cockpit without annoyance.

Just keep an eye on the comments section here over the next week and watch as the one vs the other trolls start fights here (Happens on every single SC and Elite video uploaded to the net regardless of channel). As a long term player of space flight sims I don't see the point of comparing them, Firstly SC isn't out yet Elite has been out for over a year and is into its first expansion. That's a released game being compared to a game still in development which is pointless. Then there is scope, SC when it is released will only have around 120 or so systems. Elite has over 2 billion. That means SC's systems will be more active but elite allows more freedom, Which is better will depend on who you asked. I like both ideas. In the end I'll just be happy we have a couple of great space games around now after the dead zone that the early 2000's was for the space sim genre and play both of them. But then again I never understood these kind of discussions, Same as I never understood the Xbox vs PlayStation arguments that pop up all over the net, I have no interest in either console and if I did I would just buy both.

You guys should head out to Ceos, its about 400ly out of main space and there are two systems with 3 stations were you can pick up great smuggling mission. 6 million plus. Ceos and Sothis, head to Ceos first because there is one station there and you can get mission to Sothis which is one jump away. I recommend doing mission between the two systems until you get your local reputation to Allied with one or two of the local factions so you can get better missions. Also it is good to have a higher trade rank Merchant/Broker and higher. I have seen mission that pay 10 million plus for Tycoon and Elite rank traders, the highest I have seen so far was 12.5 million for Elite rank.

When you leave populated space a.k.a. Do the smuggling missions come more often and with better rewards? Cuz when I'm in the "bubble" as magz calls it I never get those million credit missions

if you hang around for the area for a bit and visit all the stations you can get several good mission, most I made in one round trip was 25 million. Also At Newholme Station in Sothis there is a rare item you can buy called Sothis Gold. Cost 15000 per item but when you get back to the bubble you can make at 22000 profit on it, you can get 5-11 of these in one go.

Actually I am not sure if its still available but if you check your account settings on the frontier forums for Elite Dangerous they used to have a download option for the original Elite updated to work on modern systems. If you ever feel nostalgic for the original it may be worth checking out.

+Redbeardian It is actually, The potential to be jumped at any time. Fail to interrupt one scan and you can loose millions of credits almost instantly. Some player pirates have ships built to catch Asp smugglers and if you run into one of those getting away can be difficult and the build requires you sacrifice the weight of the guns so you can't fight. Honestly trying to sneak through space has a much more risk/reward buzz about it than WT ever has especially since if you are a reasonable pilot its possible to loose matches and still make a profit, Meaning there is no loss at all in WT. But if your not a fan don't play it.

MagzTV I'd prefer if they made all the types of missions similarly rewarding, in that case. Then, while you are doing the smuggling run, you also hit a bounty on the way, or help rescue a princess off a giant space station. lol

Hey magz did you know that their is a mod to change the UI color from orange to a soft colored blue?

+DoctorEris Its not a mod, You just go into the options menu and pick a different color. You can make the HUD what ever color you like. I just like the stock orange.

+DoctorEris Early on it was a big issue, but then they just added it to basic options (the light blue bits were actually quite an issue for my vision, had to change everything to yellow->red hues. But hey more props to them, they're a game that ACTUALLY has a level of colorblind support)

+Gus Davis (Major G) There are three states of space in Elite, In normal space your ships moves at sub-light speeds (When I was leaving or docking with stations). In frame shift your ship moves at FTL speeds as you noticed for moving around star systems however if you look at the jump destination you'll see that even at those speeds it would take over a year to make the trip between stars. Finally there it witch space or the Frame shift Jump. This turns the year long trips into just seconds.

Thargoids And old human shipes used witchspace. Some old ships still use witchspace drives like capital ships but the never smaller ships use FSD. more like what we are trying to achive here on earth with the Alcubierre drive. Thargoids could ambush human ships as they wish in witchspace and could remain in it for long times. belive that was part of the resson newer ships don't use it anymore even though witchdrives could get you much further.

+krowerQ All ships still use witchspace, That's what the jump corridor is. The player is using there FSD to pass through a corridor of witchspace between stars. When Thargoids interdict you in the old Elite games it is exactly that, An interdiction much like what a pirate or security ship would do in normal space but the interdiction occurs during the jump forcing the player into sub-light speeds while still being inside the witchspace corridor. Escaping the corridor was simply aligning to your destination and re-activating your FSD to compleate the jump. I expect with the current events related to the alien artifacts and the meta-alloys we can expect to see some of that happening in Elite: Dangerous soon.

I actually like using the class 6 and one 5 in the asp for fuel, then using one class 3 for shields, and the rest cargo, gives a roughly 600ly total range, which is enough for anywhere inside the bubble + some room for error, and you don't have to fuel scoop. You only get 56 tons of cargo, but if you wait at the station you're at for 20 minutes you can get around 4 2mil+ 6-10 cargo space missions, so it's still pretty good. coriolis.io/outfit/asp/05D5A5A4D4A5D5C1b---------f6040243020101.Iw18WQ==.Aw18WQ==?bn=Asp%20Smuggler Also, you said later in the video that you should boost immediately once you fsd into a letterbox station, but it's actually best to line up with the letterbox first, you won't get scanned while outside of 7.5km, and you also have the time to turn FA off and go into silent running if it makes you feel safer if you're waiting for people to get out of the way. Also also, generally Robigo is the best place for shadow deliveries, because you can quickly build rep with the station if you get missions for Sothis (Which is only 50 ly away), it gens a whole lot of Shadow Deliveries, and it's an outpost.

If you really want to go cheatsy, you can switch between open and solo play while at the station to quickly respawn missions.

Rafael Andrade Not really, you still get around 26 ly with a full load of fuel and 50 tons of cargo, if you don't take to many missions with high amounts of cargo you're usually still up at 27, I don't know about you, but I don't encounter many situations where I NEED that extra 3-5 Ly, and it isn't that much quicker at 30Ly.

Dominic Donahue Well, I'm carrying 80 tons with almost 26 LY jumps. With 80 tons, I can make between 35 and 45 million per trip, more if I spend more time getting the sweet 1M+/ton missions.

this game is so boring now and tiring, i have mot played it since horizons came out, you land on a few planets or moons, big deal now, and the missions are boring as well... perhaps someday it will get exciting again

Today yeah it's so easy that it's almost pointless having them in the game, but this video wasn't recorded today, it was recorded in January and uploaded in February 2016 over 8 years ago. Interdictions have been nerfed multiple times since then to what we see in game today. A lot has changed in the almost decade since this video came out.
