The Xeno Scanners range is a real problem now. Hopefully soon we'll get another community goal for an enhanced version 😊

@@FreemanicParacusia We dont really need a material sink and use an utility slot to get a useless thing which only propuse to able to target the hearths (which can be targeted manually anyway). Imagine if we needed to grind materiels and use up an utlility slot just to see what type of Human ship we are faceing, and the ability to target its powerplant. We really need that the scanner become a default equipment.

You can go into silent running for a while to heat up your ship and take away the caustic damage.

Exactly. Silent running + a burst of my shard cannons is enough heat to kill caustic DMG

In my experience it's been closer to 200% - 250% heat, but I don't have anything on this build that produces that much heat.

@@LateToTheBeardParty Nope. its more a decontamination chance then guarantee. but if you keep an eye on the indicator for caustic damage, most of the times its gone after reaching 150%, more often before that.

I've been told it's both, based on how much you're exposed to, a scout's death cloud requiring the 120 and the interceptor requiring higher

If you mean the 'Remote Release Flak Launchers', they only work manually, AIs won't use them for some reason, so either your another player in a secondary seat in your ship have to control them, they're best used against the swarm.

Main reason people avoid small ships vs Thargoids is the low hull and shields, but if you're good enough it can be viable. Most people use the medium ships (mostly the Krait Mk 2) as they're the best compromise between the advantages and disadvantages of everything, especially the limit of 4 AX weapons on a single ship. I'm currently looking at experimenting with a Vulture fitted with 2 Gauss Cannons vs Interceptors.

Keep it cold and must fly FA Off. Also, smaller hardpoints means it takes more hits on target. Not for everyone.

If those weapons are turrets ones why dont you set it to "fire at will" instead of using it on fixed mode? They don't work?

I only use fixed if I'm fighting an Interceptor, 'fire at will' is good if you don't care what they shoot at, for taking on the scouts I use 'target only' so they all shoot at my current target if they can, otherwise they don't shoot. Similar to gimballed but with a wider arc of firing.

They should be available at all the rescue ships - you can see where they are on the Galaxy Map.

Open up the galaxy map, you'll see blue/green markers similar to the Red Cross for medical things, in those systems you'll find rescue ships, that's where you get them. I recommend filling you ship, store those, fill again, store again, and so forth until you've got a bunch, then return to your home system and get those shipped over. That'll save you having to bring every ship you want to outfit with them to the rescue ship.

Yeah I haven't managed to do any real damage to the flowers, but the spinning tops take no more than 3 passes to kill.

Me and a friend managed to take out a Cyclops with these new Multicannons, but it meant switching to 'forward fire' to manually aim at the hearts, not as effective as Gauss Cannons but it's possible!

you can change tureted to fixed at any time, but my preference (for krait mk II) is 2x tureted in small ports and 2x fixed in big spots, and you can hit the hearts.

The Enhanced multis are pretty good for the little guys, but il always take guardian rails over them for the cyclops and up.

The new Multicannons 'can' kill Interceptors if your aim is good enough, but not as well as Gauss Cannons. Unfortunately the new Orthrus has a weapon/effect that can destroy Guardian tech way faster than the Proteus Wave in HIP 22460. If the other interceptors start carrying it, then we won't be able to use any Guardian tech against them anymore. Hopefully we're going to see more AX tech developments soon. o7 Cmdr.

How is everyone killing scouts so quickly??? I have three of the new multi-cannons on my Chieftain and it takes almost a minute to kill one bug. You're smoking these things in like 3 seconds!

Chief should be able to fit 2L, 1M. You should be able to get better results. I have 1L and 3M on my Chally and she rips through scouts like mad.

Are yours turreted? Fixed does more damage - providing the bullets are landing... I have found the two large turreted enhanced MCs absolutely minces the scouts in no time. They are often dead in the first pass, they rarely survive the second pass.

I see a lot of videos of people using mid tier ships like Krait, Mamba, FDL etc when doing PVE rather than the biggest and baddest ships (namely Corvette, Anaconda, and Cutter). Why is that? With all ships decked out, don't you have more firepower, hull, and shields with the larger ships?

They've got their pros and cons. The "biggest and baddest ships" can be cookie cutters, but they're also slower and less maneuverable than the medium ships you mentioned.

Mid tier is a matter of perspective. Lots of new players think getting the most expensive ship is how to win the game. Medium ships are better at combat because firepower only counts when you're actually hitting the target. There's a video on my channel of how to fly a Chieftain. I can finish a medium conflict zone faster in a Chieftain than any other ship, simply because my time on target is that much better.

Biggest reason for me is the limit of 4 AX weapons on a ship, the Krait is one of the best compromises between capability, especially maneuverability, and firepower that makes the most of that limit. While it'd be nice to make use of the larger hull and shields, the weapon limit makes them less viable, I'm hoping there'll be a CG coming that raises that limit.

In addition to what has already been listed here I think one of the main reason is you can't get the big ships fast enough to escape hyperdictions/interdictions if you need to. Much easier to get boost speeds over 500 m/s in a medium ship than a large.
