Loved the Vid that was epic man. Subbed and liked and the fact that you took the time to reply to almost every comment too, that's a rarerity among YT content creators these days. I now have over 3,500+ hrs in ED + Odyssey, however I am not a combat pilot (cause I suck at it) so I did the long journey 3 weeks ago to Colonia (using CMDR Mita Kondria's Colonia Bridge Map) some 705 Hyperspace Jumps. I understand that Colonia will be next to be attacked by the Caustic Cabbages so I will just have to move on somewhere else or leave the game completely when / if that happens.

No I was shooting at nothing to force my ship to Overheat. Overheating your ship can burn off the Caustic Substance (Constant acid damage from Thargoid missiles). Any yes, having a manual reload would be very nice to have. It's why many Multicannon users love the Auto-loader experimental effect on said cannons

Yeah AX Multi-cannons and AX Missile Racks are severely outclassed by Guardian weaponry sadly. However, using your multi-cannons to destroy Scouts while other CMDRs are handling the Interceptors is a really helpful thing to do! Scouts are a pain in the ass while in Interceptor combat. The random Caustic Missiles they launch and stray shots they deal will cancel out repair limpets + Synths. So killing Scouts that are chasing said CMDRs is a good thing

Incredible fight! I'm trying to do my part by evacuating people, but 3 out of 4 times I get hyperdicted and destroyed by those blasted thargoids. Any tips on how I can enhance my ship to be a bit more study against their weapons? I do not intend to fight them. Choose a decently fast and armored ship that can boost to 450+ and can have at least 2-3k Hull. Decently strong shields can help soak some damage while you're running away to High Wake. It's Basilisk interceptors that can boost to 550 or 650(Idk which number), so eventually they'll catch up. My Vette can only go to 352, so I'll turn around and make a head on pass if the Interceptors start to get within firing range. Since they'll take a little while to regain momentum, I can get tf outta there

I'm running in a Krait, and was in an Asp before. The second you get control after a hyperdiction, boost toward the system and drop a heat sink. They'll have trouble targeting you if you keep under 20% temp and fly fast. You'll also want the shutdown neutraliser so they can't EMP you. Some people, particularly AX combat commanders, utilise cold running (having a ship with low heat natively) and silent running. I've got my ship to 24% without specifically building for cold running, but could get more by swapping out for lower grade modules, flying without shields, so on. Still, low operating temperature does make silent running easier and/or mean dropping less heat sinks

Right now the Thargoids are invading as a new Powerplay styled AI, with new mechanics in the Galaxy Map. Its a losing battle at the moment, until we end up getting new toys to help even the odds. If what FDev says is true, then we can hopefully have a real chance at losing the bubble. Finally, a real threat for all of us to be worried about!

Yeah I can imagine a bunch more people are doing the Guardian grind, as those are still the superior weapons in most AX scenarios. There's engineered AX missile racks being sold at Sirius Tech Brokers in their various Mega ships, but AX missile racks will be only good for exerting hearts, as they deal no damage to the heart itself.

How do you find the corvette gets on verus the Thargoids, one ship i never considered to be honest.

The Vette has great Armor, Shields and the best mobility in the Large ship class. The two biggest issues of the Vette in AX Combat is the low top speed and rather poor Hardpoint placements for Fixed Weapons. The Gauss setup in the video (2 Mediums on the Huge Hardpoints and 2 Smalls on the Small Hardpoints) are pretty much the only way to use the Vette for AX effectively. The other hardpoints are spread out too much, and the Vette can fit only Three Class 3 weapons, as the rest of the Hardpoints are either Mediums or Small. So your builds will be very limited and difficult to use and underpowered compared to the Anaconda's generous use of large hardpoints and excellent convergence. But even then, the Vette is a very strong AX ship if one can be ok with the limited setups and plays to its strengths

For anyone trying to get into AX Scout combat (The smaller UFO looking Thargoid ships), you don't need any engineering. Combat against them is mostly straightforward with no real barrier to entry. Though you'll want to buy some AX Multi-Cannons to properly deal with Scouts, as they resist a large portion of human damage. Still, you can get by with gimballed regular Multicannons Combat against Interceptors (The giant flower looking ships) will be a huge challenge for any newcomers to AX combat. Engineering and Guardian weapons are almost a necessity if you plan on soloing the Cyclops Interceptor, which is the easiest combat variant.

What this engineering does is effectively double the range of the beam and remove all damage drop off(You no longer deal less damage the farther away you are). The Thermal Vent experimental effect allows the Beam Laser to cool off your ship's temperatures if you strike an enemy, but it doubles heat generation to your ship if you miss. Why am I beaming the Interceptor in the video so often? It's because I'm using it to help drain the Interceptor's shields after each heart kill while also cooling off my own ship. After every 2nd heart killed and onwards, the Interceptor enters a 'Sleep phase' where it's trying to lock on to a target it's staring at. If your temperature is below 20%, you can stop it from locking on to you. This will essentially avoid a Caustic Missile/EMP attack if it doesn't switch targets while you're still cold. This doesn't work on the 1st heart kill, as every Interceptor will chase a target to use a lightning attack, as you can see in the first Cyclops I fight. That thing was chasing tf outta me while pulsing yellow. Using your Gauss against the shields is very inefficient. You're using precious ammo and overheating your ship, when you could just cool off your ship while draining its shields instead!

You've seen correctly! This has happened since the introduction of Thargoids to the game, where Interceptors don't use Swarms above a planet. Though to be fair, fighting the extra gravity + heat generated by the engines constantly attempting to stabilize itself on planetary flights already make the fight a bit harder too

That other fighter is one of the three Guardian fighters, the XG9 Lance. It deals great damage with its railgun and is very nimble. But hilariously, Guardian fighters are also terrible for AX combat because of their paper thin Hulls. They have a whopping 10 Hull. Due to shield phasing damage from the majority of Thargoid attacks, they die in less than 3 seconds. I don't recommend bringing them to Conflict Zones, as they get shredded way quicker than AX Taipans

I'd say it's 100% worth it, as the experience of Interceptor combat is more satisfying than killing AI Ships that all have almost the same AI and weaknesses in every fight. If one plans on getting into Interceptor combat, Guardian weapons are what will allow one to ever move past the Cyclops Interceptor onto the other variants (Without wanting to rip your own head off because of the low AX human weapon damage lol)

Once you flew downwards at 130+ speed, even the powerful lateral thrusters of the Corvette w/ G5 Dirty Drives had a very hard time trying to slow down before hitting the ground Still, a fun challenge from the usual space flight

With the Human Enhanced AX weapons, you can definitely be of assistance in these fights! Especially because of the new Hunter Class Thargoids that will arrive with a Anti-Guardian field that destroys all Guardian modules and weapons while active. Your human AX weapons will remain unaffected. Be sure to grab the Enhanced variants, as they have a massively easier time hitting targets with the far faster projectile speed. Just understand that human AX weapons heavily struggle against the Medusa and Hydra Interceptors, as their armor and health regens are very high.

It's mainly performance reasons, as my gaming laptop is not as good as most Gaming Desktops. Said Desktops are what would be most deserving of running graphics/power hungry games. Also I'm not as interested in Star Citizen because I love PvE over PvP for the vast majority of my games. Especially in open world games, as I'll never be as good as players who do like PvP. Never a fan of dying to people who love picking on players who don't want to fight in general. Elite Dangerous' Solo Play/Private session modes are a GODSEND for players like me, who want to avoid PvP at all costs. Way more chill and less annoying experience.

@@Silencer555 I totally get that. My gaming laptop is a BEAST and does not run SC. However, there is some really good PvE play that can happen in SC. I love doing asteroid mining for a nice relaxing gaming session when I don't wanna be around people. There is good PvE fun at the moment but you can run into player characters out in the verse, so if you want to avoid other players that much then it might not be the right mmo for you. But whenever you build your next computer you should try out a free fly event to see if there are too many players you run into. The flight mechanics, ships, and visuals are incredible, the most impressive game I've ever played, and when I want to play alone I'm generally able to without real players messing with me. The single player version of the game you might really enjoy when it's done (couple more years at least); called Squadron 42. Thanks for the response and safe flying out there, hope you get those dirty whatchamacallems (don't remember the name).

@@MadjGB the npcs i fought in the latest build in the PTU were really deadly on foot. NPCs can fly and land their own ships now, so you'll see them landing ships and assaulting out the back to support their group. You can even steal the ship they land if you're able to beat them.

I play with a controller on PC just because it's comfortable (extra buttons on controller are remapped to make combos easier while flying). I can comfortably fly thargoid combat and solo most interceptors. The only thing keeping me from a hydra is the patience and unwillingness to sythesize the extra ammo.

@@soundcloudpandapandawa2997 I have not been to the rescue capital ships, however it seems unlikely that they would be stocked with pre-engineered modules. The pre-engineered guardian modules are only available from Azimuth Biotech in Mbooni (permit locked, though it should now be earnable by increasing reputation with the faction). The only other pre-engineered module that would possibly be useful is the heatsinks which would be found at human tech brokers. Regular gauss cannons would be your best option if you have them unlocked which I strongly recommend taking the time to do even if you intend to get engineered guardian modules.

Those bars are affected by the following that we know of: -Thargoids killed in Thargoid War zones -Refugees evacuated from Thargoid War zones -Supplies delivered/sent in/from Thargoid War zones Much like how Powerplay works with Merits to dictate if a system can be challenged/lost to another Powerplay faction, this should be nearly the same with the current Thargoid War. Our actions altogether add merits in these systems. If we can gain enough points to pass the currently non-displayed Thargoid merits in a system, then we can set back the invasion by one step. If we can keep doing this in a system after each weekly tick, then eventually we can remove Thargoids entirely in a system. But given how relatively large this invasion already is with just 3 Maelstrom fronts, it's almost a hopeless battle with how spread out all of our current forces are. So the best strategy that the Anti Xeno Initiative are applying right now, is to focus on systems that have a rather long estimated time before they completely fall to the Thargoids. It'd be unwise to keep fighting in systems that will be lost in a projected, few days time. Better to bring all your forces to remove Thargoids in systems, one by one instead of trying to fight them everywhere.

It's to help overheat my ship above 100%-250% to burn off the Caustic substance on my ship. Whenever you receive a Caustic damage effect, it will not stop damaging your ship until you remove it.

Max SYS allows for the highest shield strength, so I'll always prioritize that for a Shield Tanked AX ship. I'll rarely put much PIPs into ENG as I'll just be much more focused on having 2 PIPs into WEPs for the bare minimum Gauss firing. Having 2 PIPs into shields results in your shields taking much more damage rather than having 4 PIPs into them. Feels like having double shield strength honestly. Since this AX Vette is built as a shield tank, that should remain the highest priority in fights. Also, you cannot reboot to regain 50% shields after a heart kill. Both due to the extra Scouts that can damage you after a Reboot + Gravity being a strong killer if you don't have shields and thrusters to use lol

Yes, defending surface installations is the best gameplay in Elite Dangerous! But ditch the fighter before it gets you killed. You cannot dock with fighter deployed, and sometimes it cannot dock due to combat...so you are stuck with 5% hull and cannot land to repair because your fighter is deployed. 29mil is a big rebuy.😮
