For this event we decided to position ourselves just outside the perimeter of the caustic cloud surrounding the Titan ….It was quite the spectacle to behold and if you’re curious to see what it looked and sounded like ….this is what we saw. o7 CMDRs

I was planning to witness it from inside the maw, but my game crashed 4 minutes before the explosion. I managed to get back in 20 seconds before the explosion but didn’t get to watch it from inside the maw 😢

This is perhaps the beginning of the end of this war with the Thargoids, but I suspect the occasional incursion and "low level war" we had since they first appeared in game will continue, as for the next major war, will it be us going on the offensive against the Thargoids?

It's not that bad these days... They've dropped the unlocks for caustic sinks and TG neutralizers. I can help you fastpass Palin if you need better thrusters. The barrier to entry is far lower than it's ever been.

@@Timberwolf69 FDev put a lot of love into all those assets. If I had to wager, they'll retreat to "home space" where they can be visited for the indefinite future.

Fascinating. Thanks for being braver than I was about positioning yourselves somewhere completely different for this one! Given fdev's often surprising attention to detail did anyone else wonder for a second there if the sound of the explosion was going to arrive some time after the visuals? I'll let them off but 9.5/10 Frontier, could do (fractionally) better! 😉

I mean, technically there WOULDN'T be any sound at all. Canonically the only reason we hear sounds in our ships is because our AI translates nearby events into sound for situational awareness, so for that purpose I would hope the AI would align the sounds with whatever is making them.

Now im curious what itll look like from super cruise or a nearby planet. I think one of them is near a planet you can stand on. That may have been Taranis though... Would be interesting if you can see it explode in real time from the surface of a nearby moon or if you see the bright light if youre in SC in system.

The sales clerk from the Brewer Corporation has promised me that this is what it will be like when my 20 Billion credit _Drake Super-Mega-Capital Class Fleet Carrier_ jumps into system. _"Warning, Super-Mega-Capital Class Signature Detected!"_ I paid the 40 billion credits up front plus an extra 5 billion for a few carrier extra's. I do hope he gets in touch with me soon. The number he gave me must have a digit wrong - I just keep getting a dead dial tone.. I'm sure he'll be in touch to say it's ready to collect any day now.

I have seen it this way when Taranis blew. I made it to this titan when it was being attacked still, first time, but I was in solo and got stomped by the Thargs. Still, I made it to a Titan at least.

About how many km out were you? I would think that if you are at the perimeter of the caustic cloud, you would get booted; the inclusion zone seems to be around 140km immediately after explosion, yet the cost of cloud I think starts more like 80 km?

How to know which titan is going to be downed and when?

Look at their health and number of systems controlled in the Thargoid War section of the Galaxy Map. Seems after a titan is destroyed, they go for the next titan with the least amount of controlled systems (look for the 35 next to Oya - which will change tomorrow now that a couple of systems have been regained by humanity since the last server update)
