Thats where you started in the original elite so it makes sense, maybe going back to all the old systems in the original game has some kind of hints, I wish i could remember where the old missions took you but i can look at the original elite exe and find them I remember they all would be written in the file if you tried to edit you could see all the mission texts, maybe one of those systems has some answers

I mean. In hidesight, it makes perfect since. The faction has been in Shin since the begining, and the Codex even hints at it. Straight up referring to them (The DW in Shinrarata) specifically, as well as implying what will happen to them when they get too big.

The Gnosis was never going to make it into the Cone Sector, Frontier has said that was entirely on the community. We hyped it up to insane levels, from the moment they mistakenly approved the jump the plan was always a hyperdiction.

They knew exactly what it meant to the community and the work they put into screwing everyone could have been put into something creative and fun for the player base.

Take each letter of "R A X X L A" as positioned on a typical QWERTY keyboard. It's a 2D directional star map, describing a location within a circled area. Two binary stars "X X", two White Dwarfs "A . . A" either side to right "R"(90deg)and left "L"(270deg). Raxxla is located between them. The trick is finding the correct observation/origin point so that the 2D plane is correct.

Been involved since the plan was announced, but I had a thought last night... "What if expansion for the Dark Wheel faction isn't automatic like other factions in the game, but hard coded to lead us to a specific location?"

Funny coincidence(?) though I was forming a theory on how to find Raxxla and part of it involved the summer triangle which is celebrated in a few countries. One of them being A celebration that takes place in Japan on July 7th. So funny that it happened to expand on that day. There's my tinfoil cap moment for you.

Factions have attempted to expand into Sol before. So far there was always an expansion block active, causing expansions to lead into other systems instead.

This has been heavily discussed on the forums. Fdev stated that factions can expand into Sol, but only certain ones are allowed to for purity reasons. TDW was near there a long time ago before being repressed to the LFT system.

making the faction expand and move to another system, i am not surprised at due to it being a faction. moving the faction towards SOL will be difficult and system may need factions evicting to free up a space etc. wow.... impressive, how it all works

I remember that in the old days, there was an Alliance attempt to expand a faction into Sol, which was actively blocked by FD, not sure if this has any implications for this plan.

Yeah that's been considered. Two ways to interpret that... 1.) That don't want any factions expanding into Sol. 2.) They want to leave room for TDW to expand into Sol. Whatever the result, as a community, we'll know more afterwards!

I think something will happen once they reach Sol. My Reasoning is this 2280 A small object known as the Martian Relic, the first alien artefact ever documented, is discovered buried on Mars. As the Martian Relic was confiscated by the Federation shortly afterwards, it has been shrouded in secrecy for centuries, with its existence only confirmed by leaked Federal records. All that is known about the object is that it is artificial, it was not created by humans, and it measures no more than a few centimetres square. This was a good bit before the actual circulation of stories concerning RAXXLA, Add my theory is that this is a story somewhat similar to treasure planet.

The Wheel and Raxxla and are the sort of mysteries that kept me loving this games lore. But with nothing too mysterious happening for some time, and the Galaxy News feed gone through my entire Edge of the Galaxy expedition, I havent felt immersed in the galaxy as an actual citizen for some time. I even bought a PC to start making my own pixel game (think Starbound and NMS meets Elite ^~^). But this definately has my attention. Looks like I'm going to boot up that One X my GF has to play Elite with it after all XD

In esscence yes. The dark wheel is searching for Raxxla. Increasing their power and influence throughout human space (it's hoped) will uncover more clues ...and by "clues" what we mean is "unlock something gameplay wise that needs the prescence of the Dark Wheel faction".

Especially if they take away the option for using my Oculus rift. I have limited myself on how many games I play and Star Citizen even not being done is so much better already.

Yes. Actions taken in solo influence the BGS (background simulation), in the same way ones in open play do.

I just learned about this yesterday and kept my eyes open and have already seen 2 Gas Giants with more then eight moons. The Codex only states that "the dark wheel base is on the eighth moon of an unnamed Gas Giant..." so that's not about Raxxla, but the DW. and judging from the video they are already found.

Heres a thought, maybe if raxxla has always been there, maybe the clue to what it is isnt in the present, but in the past? There are hints to it being timey-wimey and stuff, so maybe if going through the code for previous games could shed light on it?

The dark wheel is looking for raxxla. Expanding the influence of the dark wheel will cause them to expand into new star systems they're not in currently.

The simple answer is we don't know.. However it is hoped that, as the dark wheel are themselves looking for Raxxla, expanding their influence and power will unlock something that has been left dormant in the game until it is touched by the presence of the dark wheel. If I had my guess I think we're looking for a system or planetary permit to unlock or a set of missions to appear.

@@sideparting6845 yeah permit locked right now (LFT 509 is the prime candidate) with no known way of obtaining the permit. That is the case for a fair few systems and planets as well in fact (there's a locked planet in Sol and another in Lave to name but two). Again, no known way to obtain those permits currently.

I think you guys are chasing your tails from boredom. This game lost me a while ago. I will only come back if the expansion has more than what they showed meaning more than just a heavier fog and calling it a tenuous atmoshphere and showing space legs that isn't added CGI which was obvious.
