No they can't since both have 0 range, every time the battle elephant will turn around so it can attack the ETK, the ETK will return a hit. But the battle elephant can choose to run away and not engage in a fight with less, or equal number (like as always against etk 😅😂)

This is historically accurate - in the Battle of Grunwald 1410 the Polish-Lithuanian Elephant Core tried to break the Teutonic Centre, Grandmaster Ulrich send in his Teutonic Footknights who wore capes and German Longswords. As the Elephants arrived they smashed into the Teutonic lines unable to break them. The Tusks were no match for the heavy Armor and the capes frightend the Elephants. The Elephants were most entirely whiped which also then route the lithuanian cavalry which then alter reformed and charged the back of the Teutonic army. The Polish King Jogaila said at the end of the battle "Never again will i import cheap chinese elephants"

They are not really vulnerable to conversion due to Teutons' team bonus. But due to their terrible speed, ranged units with pierce attack can easily kite and obliterate them. The "Overpowered", in my opinion, are Leiciai and Cataphracts. Good speed, high damage(Cataphracts to infantries, Leiciai to all units due to their armor penetration), good health and armor( not for heavy cavalry, but better than medium cavalry).

The only fully upgraded melee unit that is worth sending against elite teutonic knights are the samurais, because they are cheaper and they deal extra damage against special units. The samurai will die, but it cost so much less to produce them that you can produce a larger army than your enemy. And if you are wondering if pikemen are worth sending against ETKs, the answer is so. Its not worth sending 30~40 pikemen to kill a single ETK. Ofc im only talking about melee infantry against melee infantry. I know there are several units that counter ETKs just like monks.
