what a lot of people do not realize is how land can raise itself. Leaves, dead weeds, dust and natural materials that are not cleaned up will decompose and turn to soil, and getting flushed down between grass blades while the grass then grows over it and slowly raises elevations over the years. I bet that without the owner realizing it, the grass in front of that garage door rose up by about 1 to 2 inches over the course of 5 to 8 years and that completely changed the water runoff. And it is the same for the rest of the land. The leaves on the grass do not look like much, but mulched up and left on the ground, they will decompose and turn to dirt that raises the land everywhere over time.
@eliteearthworksllc4 жыл бұрын
Yep and I bet that’s what happened here. Years and years of leaves and grass. It does add up over time. Appreciate you watching

Dirt Brute... i lived in Texas for a while... it is spelled Caliche. It is similar to limestone but has silt, clay etc. in it. The limestone that we have in SW/MO is almost pure. Some of it is so pure it is cut into blocks and used for buildings, sidewalks and statues. The crushed form of it is what he calls baserock.
@DirtBrute4 жыл бұрын
@@sassafrasvalley1939 oh cool thanks ! We have dense grade here in Massachusetts . Mostly blue stone or granite crusher run that comes from the quarries . But a lot of us will use crushed concrete or asphalt Depending on the job .

@@DirtBrute I envy you... my daughter lived in Virginia. I rebuilt her driveway with crushed granite. It was marvelous to work with and didn’t degrade under traffic nearly as fast as limestone. Around here the only places you see crushed granite is along the railroad tracks or in bags at Lowe’s!

Brandon... I see what you did all last week during the rain... when you dug that first bucket from the garage apron and turned around, I almost spilled my tea! Like an obedient puppy the Peterbilt pulled up there and parked right where you needed it. Who needs a helper... That has to be heavy training or a remote control you installed. Last weeks work in the shop is gonna pay huge dividends! One question... what treats do you use to train your Pete? I couldn’t tell the exact height of the lip on the outside of the driveway but... to get the water away from the garage door, could you have dug a wide shallow swale across the drive to pitch it away? If so, that would be cheaper and easier to maintain than a pipe or collection box and drain... especially with all those oaks.
@eliteearthworksllc4 жыл бұрын
Lol yes lots of editing last week and training the Peterbilt 🤣 That would work too on the swale it’s just a poor design when they built it. I may be back at Diamond grove Wednesday I’ll let you know

Looks like that garage is below grade in all directions (at least from the video), so unless there is a ditch along the main road you could pipe a drain out into I can't really see a fix for it, besides closing it in. You need a toothless bucket, would make somethings faster for you I think.
