Just a suggestion team Elite. It would be great to showcase the coaching journey of a amateur golfer and their gradual improvement . So my 3 week journey since finding your channel continues. Distance is great, speed is up, face feels really stable. Funny thing happened today at the range. I was suddenly fading all my shots where previously I was drawing the ball, then as I worked your system I ended neutral, and now I'm fading it a lot. I found that as I went into the release, I was sort of delaying my release as I went through impact by getting my hands up and in too quickly. Doing so would produce a fade. So I started trying to "release" my hands more down the line and I immediately started getting my straight shots or slight fades and the left wrist would finish extended with the face roughly parallel to my shoulders as you describe. If through impact I felt like I released outside the target line, I'd get a draw (though I was struggling to draw at all today). Should I be feeling this sort of release pattern change to change the ball flight? For the record, distance was about the same whether I was fading or drawing. I don't really care what shot shape I play as long as the dispersion is acceptable. I was just shocked that I was suddenly fading everything where I couldn't do that if I tried previously. Edit: As a follow on, how could I find what my pivot preference is? I think I found that as I started to drop the pelvis more, that lead to me wanting to pivot more trail side.

is it possible to do a hovland style at impact, then let the club head rotate more after impact? It seems I don't have enough wrist strength to hinge the club post impact, so hard to keep a low rate of rotation post impact, thanks!

Honestly this is just so well timed! As I’ve been messing about with these questions - looking forward to breaking it down more with you guys. One question: if you are a lead hip rotating player, do the spiral movements, rib sway movements still apply in the same way and it’s just what the arms and hands are doing that differs? Can’t thank you guys enough for this content. 🙏

This was so helpful in helping me to better understand things I have seen and felt but was worried about going down an unproductive rabbit hole. My biggest challenge is that I naturally do the more stable trail hip rotation type of movement as a wee barrel-chested Scotsman. However, though it gives a stable and powerful strike, I lack height and present way too little dynamic loft, causing issues with longer clubs. When I achieve the lead hip move with more vertical force etc. I find it hard to control the ball. It is a bit of a catch-22. Either hit short low and straight and roll over the back of greens - or higher/lots of release/speed but loose golf balls. One feel that helped temporarily was from a video with Gankas talking about how Lee Trevino (Mr. stable!!) said he felt a big roll release but rotated his body to stop the face from actually ever getting there, thus the face stays stable. When timed correctly it feels like you get both the speed/height of the roll release with the stability of the stable release. Just something I thought worth sharing.

During takeaway, pivot with lead hip to pull trail hip back and away from target line. During downswing, keep using lead hip pivot for all clubs except driver, to keep low point forward. For driver, use trail hip pivot during downswing to move low point back behind the ball and hit high trajectory low spinning cannonballs. Thoughts?

Just so we’re clear, we’re rotating the pelvis with a lead hip pivot point. And we’re actively lowering the lead arm and keeping the trail arm passive ? Also, would this work with a bowed wrist ? or would it create hooks ?

Thanks for such an informative video. A couple of question. Can you have a hybrid of the 2 types of pivot; a central pelvis pivot or is it binary. Either a lead or trail hip rotation ? And for the front hip rotation, where does the feel of the ‘hit’ come into the swing when trying to allow the rotation of the release to happen. The video was about hitting thumpers by allowing the humerus to come across the body. The question relates to the basics of the swing you released a few weeks ago. Keep up the great work guys. ⛳️

Definitely don’t prefer to see a lead hip pivot for many reasons… primarily health related. And taking a look at each hip as a pivot is just highlighting the two sides of the entire spectum. Can absolutely have a more centralized pivot

Correct me if I am wrong, but I presumed that Tiger and Rory both swung the club with a more right hand dominance... if this is true why do they use a lead hip pivot?

Guys I would love to see a video that gets a little deeper into the lead hip/trail hip pivot. You've covered this briefly in a number of your vids (I've watched them all several times lol) but it's still quite confusing. Specifically, if we want the pivot point to be in the trail hip (ala Hovland), does that mean that there needs to be more PRESSURE into the trail foot through the late downswing (i.e. more than if the pivot point was in the lead hip ala McIlroy)? I get that we want the trail hip to stay back so that the pivot point can also stay back, but I can't get a good feel for this - I think what I'm missing is some clarity on pressures in the feet. In one of your other vids you talk about being "way up there" i.e. into the left foot, but I feel like this is "pinning" the left hip and moving the pivot point forward. Help please!
@golfcrank
@golfcrank 2 ай бұрын
Listening to your description of the two different pivot points it seems that there must be two completely different hip & leg actions. a. Lead hip pivot requires the lead foot to push the hip upwards and also backwards away from the target line at 90° while the hips rotate aggressively around the lead hip. b. Trail hip pivot requires the lead foot to push the lead hip back and away from the target line at 45° while the trail hip moves around much less aggressively. Is that correct?

I'm doing well incorporating a lot of your guys excellent stuff into my swing to become more rotational, but I'm seeing a lot of bad hooks when I don't execute well(is this something you guys commonly see?), and my self diagnosis was that I was basically mixing my new rotational body movements with my old classic release pattern in the hands/arms. After watching this video, is kind of sounds like you are saying that the body movements really dictate the release, would you say that you still need to consciously stop the early face rotation with the hands/arms as an active thought? I was trying to fix my problems with keeping flexion in my trail wrist etc., but now I'm not sure this is the right way of approaching it.
@elitegolfschools
@elitegolfschools 2 ай бұрын
I’m not sure it’s good to consciously “stop” the club from releasing or turning over. Generally this will start to happen as a result of prior sequencing. The less manipulations to the face the better

@@elitegolfschools thanks for the reply, is it not going to be very hard for a player that is used to the classic release to move towards the type of release you guys prefer without some sort of conscious thought about what the hands are doing? As the straight armed flash through the ball is already a baked in motor pattern?

Hey Fellas, big fan of the channel as the biomechanic breakdown intrigued me as I recover from SI joint dysfunction. On this particular topic though, can one alternate their release depending on whether they are hitting down on the ball or up? I am a lead side pivot releaser tinkering w moving my pivot back while attempting to add depth in my backswing. With driver, I can’t close the damn face for the life of me. Is moving in between release patterns setting myself up for failure? I notice some success when I am able get my trail arm vertical at the top (swing thought). Also, do you notice any correlation in stance or foot width in setup from those that have that lead side pivot vs Other more right pivots? It’s anecdotal, but a more narrow upright posture results in much better dispersion off the tee while using the left hip pivot. Always a cut though, can’t close the mf face!!
@elitegolfschools
@elitegolfschools 2 ай бұрын
The release is mostly affected by the player’s grip and pivot. Other small reasons for varying release actions but those are the main two. And no real changes based on stance width (within reason), has to do with how the player moves 🙏🙏

It's difficult for me to a) understand the difference between the pivot point being in the lead hip & the trail hip, and then with respect to the trail hip being the pivot point, b) what the appropriate way is to incorporate that into the transition / downswing sequence. I just watched your video on how to use the pelvis ( kzbin.infoUgkxLcAITuD4J3stMr0asUSu8N2fZxQUgmqp ) to get a better understanding. In it you emphasize, in transition, re-centering back into the lead side. It's hard for me to understand how that works in conjunction with trail hip pivot point rotation. I want to work on the trail hip pivot point to build a more consistent swing (less clubface rotation), but I want to make sure I'm understanding the concepts correctly and how they work in conjunction with one another. Thanks!

Not to be "picky" but what exactly is the "release"? You talk about rolling or not rolling the clubface, are the both "release"? How can rolling and holding (or not roll) BOTH be the "release". Although I don't think you address it directly or for any length, what's an "early" vs. "late" release?? Jack Nicklaus said (paraphrase) "you can't release TOO early as long as you move to your left side and swing from inside the target line.". So does that mean you can't "roll" ( or hold) the clubface too early?? Maybe we need new terminology. WHAT IS RELEASE???? Is it when the clubface gets closer to the target than the hands, closer than the body, closer to the ground???? Release is a BS term, don't you think?
