Tons of knowledge in this video especially at the end! I just tried some gumwall Pirelli gravel H and noticed they fell like they roll a lot faster than there black wall counters! Thanks for verifying this idea for me!

That's a lot of vertical carbon.... On the MTB side, Ibis and Stans "vertical compliant." Bladed spokes are my favorite, as they do offer a touch of compliance. Anyway, these are B-E-A-UTIFUL.

I just hope the steel spokes won't get replaced by carbon ones as it's such a crucial part and you are heavily dependent on a good bond where spokes meet the metal endings...

Such great video, did you try these wheels paired to some road tyres like 28/30mm? If yes, how was the transition tyre-rim? And how was the ride feeling on road? Cheers

Yes I have. At the moment, we do every Friday as a slow ride bunch , so I put 32c vittoria rubinos on them and ride the Yoeleo g21 gravel bike as a road bike. The wheels feel fast ,lively and can go over the bigger bumps,etc. I run 65psi in them. Aero?... no idea...difficult to feel on the gravel bike.

@@stevenleffanue awesome! I just received my set last Friday. Wow what a wheelset, 24IW with Pirelli p zero race tlr is fantastic on our ozzy country roads. I am ecstatic by them. On my previous bike I had the rim Elite Drive 50D and they were scary in windy conditions. These G45 make me feel so confident by how planted they are..and fast too

Torque your cassette to 40Nm to reduce the effects of cassette bite into soft freehub body (Shimano recommended torque spec). It's more than you think !

I'm currently using 32mm GP5000 on basic aluminum rims... should I buy this model exclusively for road instead of their road model because I want a wider rim? What do I lose by using this model on the road instead of their Drive 50D?
@stevenleffanue5 күн бұрын
G45 is 45mm deep and wider, slightly less aerodynamic than the road 50d. If you don't want deeper than 45mm then the G45 would be the one to get as you can run wider tyres on them.

Could the G45 function as a Swiss army knife - "allround" 70% road and 30% gravel on 36-37c tires? Or would you choose Drive 40D?
@stevenleffanueАй бұрын
G45 has a wider internal width which would fit a wider range of tyres.
@RohamBroccoliАй бұрын
@@stevenleffanue I am aware of that. That's why I wondered if it could be an "all-rounder"?

What about these G45 for road purpose vs the drive 50D? are these better ceramic bearings (s&s)? 23/31 int/ext width w/ 28 mm conti tyres

There are riders here still using all three wheelsets and no complaints yet. Personally , I think elitewheels road if you are a light rider. Hypers for heavier riders.

I wanted to buy a pair of road bike wheels with carbon spokes similar to the ones in the video. My weight including bike and clothing is around 95kg...am I too heavy for this type of wheel? I'm afraid that if a spoke breaks the others also end up the same way and find myself on the ground without realizing it. What do you think about?
@stevenleffanue Жыл бұрын
Rider weight limit for the G45 wheels is 130kg so you will be fine on them
@3o3ulka76 Жыл бұрын
And about rider weight limit 100kg,am I too close? Is there a risk of rim breakage?

The limit is for warranty purposes. The wheels can handle more than 130kg ...you will be ok

Hi there ...im really interested in the Drive 40d, putting it on gravel bike for road use ...Would it be fair to say the G45 could be a better option for road giving me more comfort and stability? Im 70kg, do all road riding and plan to get into more endurance riding...i have 30mm tyres which i plan to put on my new wheelset.
@stevenleffanue Жыл бұрын
G45 are only 40grams heavier than the D40. Personally I'd go G45 then you can run both the 30c tyres for road or up to 50c for gravel without having a set of wheels for road and another set for gravel.

Only a small amount. It's moreover the tyres which will dictate comfort. A wider tyre gives better cornering traction too.

Problem is Carbon and Alloy react with each other resulting in GALVANIC CORROSION! So if one is OK with replacing them at the higher cost down the road... go for it!
