This could easily be done with simple analog electronics. But, it's also a good project for playing with the Arduino MC board or other similar digital circuitry.

Does the motor control board have to be where the wheels are at? Or in the case of the vehicle frame, can it be placed in a different spot? I can picture Batman's car and how his car got hacked because the board controlling it was beneath the frame where the wheels are. >>just a nugget to bother.
