He did not break 2hour marathon record... The time was made with the help of drafting a car, that had huge wall on the back of it to aid the drafting aerodynamics+other runners in front of kip, again aiding him with the drafting. In other words he never had the same aerodynamic drag that you would have when you run marathon in normal conditions. When you take air&wind resistance away, the advantage is HUGE, maybe even over 10% advantage over normal running conditions. Also he had some hightech carbon shoes that are not even allowed in comp due to spring effect. This ''record scam'' was only made to sell shoes.... its not marathon record

What I really like about these videos is the effort that goes into detail. The athlete's background provides so much context for why a specific race would become a defining moment, but more importantly it tells us that these athletes, the GOATs, didn't always win. They're always portrayed as these unbeatable, larger-than-life characters, but knowing where they came from humanizes them and makes us aware of their effort and determination. It's so important for aspiring athletes to know that even the best of the best have finished second, third, seventh, several times before they got to where they are. Great video guys, keep up the good work!

Nothing is ridiculous for an athlete of Kipchoges ability. As we know, Eluid Kipchoge, chooses his races carefully, and does not race for financial reward, as he has already made his millions. When he focuses on a particular goal, he usually succeeds in his quest. He is still the only runner to have ever gone under 2hrs for the distance, even if he was helped by a team of runners, but that fills a runner with so much confidence in his running ability.
@njsfer

At 38 years old, Carlos Lopes, a Portuguese former marathon world record holder (1985), won the Olympic Gold Medal in the marathon, so, it is possible for Kipchoge to win. If he stays injury free and if his form doesn't fall much, he can do that. But there are great young runners out there that might be its biggest challenge.

And before 2024, if he gets the right weather, when he's feeling just right, he'll get that official world record under 2 hours. It's there, he can definitely do it, but like any marathon record, just needs a couple things to cooperate.

It's interesting to see Kipchoge's lack of success at 10k despite being a gold medalist in the 5k and marathon.
