Elizabeth Furnace Campground Review 2021 (updated fees for 2021)

This is a review of Elizabeth Furnace Family (or Overnight) Campground, along with the Group Campground and the Day use area. The Elizabeth Furnace area is located on the northern end of the George Washington National Forest in Fort Valley, VA. This was filmed in mid April 2021. I hope this helps you get an overall feel for the campgrounds and that you can see what the sites look like before you arrive. As of April 2021, the fees for the sites are $20 per night when the bathhouse is open (approximately mid-May through September), and $10 per night all other times. The group site is split between Sites A & B. Site A is $55 per night and Site B is $30 per night.

I just spent 5 nights July 1-5 at the over night campground, very nice clean and we'll kept, it was not crowded at all on 4th of July weekend.

I thought I had replied to your comment a couple weeks ago but now I don’t see it. I’m not aware of any gold, but I’m not certain. I’ve never heard of anyone talking about gold in that creek and I’ve lived in the area for 17 years now.

Our favorite place in VA is Douthat State Park. I just filmed the last of the 4 campgrounds there this past weekend. I hope to get that video posted this week. We have never camped in MD, but our favorite in WV is the Army COE campground at Jennings Randolph Lake.

The bathhouse is probably only open for a couple weeks yet. They usually close it sometime between the end of September and Columbus weekend, depending on the weather.

Excellent video!! We have stayed there, site #1 with our 33ft Class C. I did a ride through at that time to find other sites that were large enough for my RV but couldn't find my photos, so your video gave me great information.
